Bertha Cupples
Bertha Merle Cupples, 90, St. Augustine, died Oct. 23, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. She was born in Delaware, and she had resided here since 1948. She was retired from Dobbs Book Bindery.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Donovan Tinsley, pastor of Trinity Chapel Ministries, officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 9 a.m. Thursday until the hour of services.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph Cupples, Palatka, Walter Cupples, St. Augustine; and one grandson.

Henry Fox
Henry (Hank) Jay Fox IV, 68, St. Augustine, died Oct. 25, 1998, at his home. He was born in Ontario, Canada, and he grew up in Miami and graduated from Rutgers University. After 25 years as an aviator, he retired from the U.S. Navy in 1973. He continued his career as a teacher and director of NJROTC, at Neptune High School in New Jersey. He and his wife, Daphne, retired to Villages of Vilano, St. Augustine, in 1995.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine, with the Rev. Patrick Cooke officiating. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home chapel from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be Friday at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to Hospice Northeast, 1400 Old Dixie Hwy., Suite A, St. Augustine, 32086; or to the American Cancer Society, POB 5355, St. Augustine, 32085.
Survivors include his wife, Daphne Southard Fox, St. Augustine; six children, Carey F. Miller, Tinton Falls, N.J., H. Scott Fox, Atlanta, Ga., Melissa Dorn, Gainesville, Abbie J. Fox, Archer, Randy J. Fox, Red Bank, N.J., Judith F. Brown, Gainesville; and 13 grandchildren.

Claudine Masters
Claudine Ellzey Masters, 86, Jacksonville, died Oct. 25, 1998, at Columbia North Florida Regional Hospital. She was born in Sylvania, Ga., and she moved to Jacksonville from St. Augustine three years ago. She was a former Realtor. She was a member of Maria Jefferson Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, the St. Augustine Scimitars and the auxiliary of the St. Augustine Shrine Club. In Miami, she was a member of Eastern Star. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, St. Augustine, and a past member of McBride Church, Sylvania.
Mrs. Masters was the wife of the late Cecil Preston Masters.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Bearss, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sons, Claude Gene Masters, Old Town, Terrence Preston Masters, Jacksonville; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Savannah, Ga.
Williams-Thomas Funeral Home, Gainesville, is in charge.

M. Stuart McGee
M. Stuart McGee, 86, St. Augustine, died Oct. 25, 1998. He was born in Richmond, Va., and he had resided in St. Augustine since 1969. He was one of seven children born to Herbert Willifred and Estelle McGee of Rocky Mount, N.C., and he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In his early years, he lived and worked in Washington, D.C., as a distribution manager for The Washington Post and as the executive director for the Washington Board of Trade. During World War II, he served with the American Red Cross in England, Germany and France, and met Margaret Needham, whom he later married.
He completed a career with the federal government as an auditor, assigned in Europe and the United States, and he retired to Florida. In St. Augustine, he and his wife managed the Surf Village Motel and Coquina Condominiums, owned a clothing consignment shop, ``Just Between Us'' and spent time with their son and his family in St. Augustine and traveled frequently to Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine Memorial Park.
Survivors include his sons, Robert, Kenly and Charles, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Edwin Schild
Edwin Marshall Schild, 88, St. Augustine, died Oct. 25, 1998, in Flagler Hospital, following an extended illness. He was born in Winchester, Tenn., and he had resided in Palatka for 47 years before moving to St. Augustine earlier this year. He moved to Palatka in 1951 from Grand Rapids, Mich. He had retired as a supervisor of Florida Furniture Industries in Palatka. He was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church, and he was active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Arie 3822; Moose Lodge No. 1641, the Knights of Columbus and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. today at Palatka Memorial Gardens, with Father Joseph Finlay officiating.
Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Schild, St. Augustine; a stepdaughter, Maureen Emerson, St. Augustine; two stepsons, Kenneth Emerson, Orlando, Edmund Emerson, Kennesaw, Ga.; and two sisters, Elizabeth Jenkins, Chattanooga, Tenn., Brooksie Hall, Lebanon, Tenn.
Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home, Palatka, was in charge.

Danell Williams
Danell R. Williams, 20, died Oct. 23, 1998, in East Palatka, from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Arrangements will be announced by Coleman's Mortuary, Hastings.

Helen Williams
Helen Williams, 62, Palatka, died Oct. 20, 1998, at Columbia Putnam Medical Center, Palatka. She was born in Green Cove Springs, and she had lived in Palatka for the past 17 years. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Zion AME Church, Green Cove Springs, with the Rev. Charles M. Jones Sr., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church of God in Christ, 624 N. 9th St., Palatka, from 5 to 7 p.m., today.
Survivors include her husband, Houston Williams Sr.; nine stepchildren, two brothers, two sisters and other relatives.

Brose Bunting
Brose A. Bunting, 86, St. Augustine Shores, died Oct. 27, 1998, following a brief illness. He worked for many years as a regional manager and auditor for GTE Telephone Companies in Nebraska, Illinois and Texas, and he retired as vice president of personnel at Bunting, Inc., Bridgeport, Conn., a company specializing in hospital communication systems in the U.S. and Kuwait. He retired to Florida in 1983, moving from Stratford, Conn. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
A memorial mass will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, U.S. 1 South, with the Rev. William Mooney officiating. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church Building Fund, POB 3064, St. Augustine, 32085.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Bunting; a daughter, Margaret McCarvill, Milford, Conn.; one son, William A. Bunting, Winchester, Mass.; five grandchildren and other relatives.
Croyle Funeral Home is in charge.

Margot Nielsen
Margot V. Nielsen, a longtime St. Augustine resident, died Oct. 25, 1998, in Boston, Mass. She formerly resided in the Oaks Apartments, and she was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She was also active with the St. Johns County Council on Aging.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Church of the Nazarene, 6 May St.
Survivors include one daughter, Veronica Nielsen, Boston, Mass.; and other family members including sisters, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Thelma Taylor
Thelma Taylor, 90, 75 Lovett St., died Oct. 23, 1998, in Flagler Hospital. She was born in Milledgeville, Ga., and she had resided here since early childhood. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. A.J. Williams, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Chase and Son Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, and at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the hour of services.
Survivors include a godson, Michael L. Elmore, St. Augustine, and guardians, Mary Preston and family, St. Augustine.

Joan Brinkhoff
Joan (Honey) Brinkhoff, 92, St. Augustine, died Oct. 31, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. She was born Bullau, Germany, and she had resided in St. Augustine since 1939. She had been a resident of the Samantha Wilson Care Center at BayView, and she was a member of the German-American Club and Memorial Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dr. Kerry Hinkley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Flowers are gratefully accepted, or those wishing may make a contribution, in her memory, to the Samantha Wilson Care Center Auxiliary, 161 Marine St., St. Augustine, 32084.
Survivors include one daughter, Emily B. Hummel, one son, Fred A. Brinkhoff, both of St. Augustine; four granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.

Evelyn K. Schreck
Evelyn K. Schreck, 79, St. Augustine, died Oct. 29, 1998. A native of Emmetsburg, Iowa, she moved to St. Augustine from Atlanta in 1961. She was a member of the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine, and she had retired from working as a waitress for 32 years at the Santa Maria Restaurant.
Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Croyle Funeral Home with the Rev. Patrick Cooke officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those wishing may make a contribution, in her memory, to Hospice Northeast, 1400 Old Dixie Highway, St. Augustine, 32086.
Mrs. Schreck was preceded in death by three sons, Vic, Michael and Charles, and her husband of 42 years, Otto.
She is survived by a son, Paul Schreck, Orlando; two daughters, Edith Schreck, Ellen Walden, St. Augustine; a sister, Loretta Kleigel of Goleta, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Dora W. Stabel, 83, of St. Augustine, who died Oct. 30, 1998, at Mariner Health Care Center, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery.

Funeral services for Betty K. Clardy, 364 Monkia Place, St. Augustine, who died at her home on Oct. 24, 1998, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Craig Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Schremmer of Valdosta, Ga., officiating. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. today.

Graveside services for Madeline Margaret Howard, 88, of St. Augustine, who died Oct. 22, 1998, at St. Johns Health Care Center, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at San Lorenzo Cemetery, with the Rev. Peter Colasurdo, pastor of San Sebastian Catholic Church, officiating.
