Mildred Donofrio
Mildred A. Donofrio, St. Augustine, died Nov. 5, 1998. She was formerly of East Rockaway, L.I., N.Y., and she was the wife of the late Dr. Anthony F. Donofrio.
A memorial mass was held today in New York under the direction of the Perry Funeral Home, Lynbrook. Memorial services will be held in St. Augustine later this week at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine, with arrangements to be announced.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Donofrio; two daughters, Jeanne Alborano, Agnes Marino; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Robert Hawkins
Robert Hawkins, a resident of St. Augustine for most of the 1990s, died Nov. 7, 1998, in Atlanta, Ga. He was retired from IBM, and he was a former adjunct speech professor at Flagler College as he developed a second career writing award-winning plays. He was born in Alabama, and he embellished southern themes in his works, including ``End of the Linc,'' produced in St. Augustine. His play ``Quite! Three Ladies Laughing'' won fourth place at the Open Book's national theater readers competition.
That play was produced at the Atlantic Beach Experimental Theatre in Jacksonville Beach and later was given an off-Broadway run in New York City.
No services are planned. Those wishing may send condolences or stories about Hawkins to his sister, Harriet Work, 4774 Marlborough Way, Carmichael, Calif., 95608.
Survivors in addition to his sister include his cousin, Martha Peterson.

Annie Holtz
Annie Holtz, 79, Hastings, died Nov. 8, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East, following a long illness. Arrangements will be announced by Coleman's Mortuary.

Don Jordan
Don Jordan, former chairman of the St. Johns County Commission, died Nov. 8, 1998, at Beauclerc Manor Nursing Home. Further details and arrangements will be announced.
Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, Mandarin, is in charge.

Priscilla Adderly
Priscilla Brown Adderly, 64, Pompano Beach, died Nov. 5, 1998. She was born in Moultrie, and she attended schools in St. Augustine and Florida Normal College. She graduated from Battle State, Rome, Ga., as an LPN. She moved to Pompano Beach in 1964. She had served as an LPN at Flagler Hospital and at North District Hospital, Pompano Beach, for over 25 years, and she worked at Northeast Focal Point Senior Center for the city of Deerfield Beach for 13 years until her retirement in April 1994.
She was a former member of St. Paul AME Church of St. Augustine, and joined Bethel AME Church when she moved to Pompano Beach. She served on the stewardess board number 1.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at Bethel AME Church, Pompano Beach, with the Rev. F.R. Satchel, pastor, officiating.
Survivors include her husband, Cyrus Adderly, Pompano Beach; her mother, Geraldine Brown Long, St. Augustine; sisters, Harriet B. Reynolds, Riviera Beach, Julia B. Thomas, Fort Lauderdale, Alice L. Owens, Deltra Long, Gloria Long, all of St. Augustine; two brothers, James Brown, George R. Long, Miami; a stepdaughter, Thersa Ellis, Fort Lauderdale; stepson, Barry Bell, Pompano Beach; and other relatives.
L.C. Poitier Funeral Home, Pompano Beach, is in charge.

Obe Goode
Memorial services for Obe Byng Goode, 80, St. Augustine, who died Nov. 6, 1998, at his home, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine National Cemetery.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Those wishing may make a contribution in his memory to Hospice Northeast, 1400 Old Dixie Highway, Suite A, St. Augustine, 32086.

Mary Lawrence
Mary Mildred Lawrence, 66, St. Augustine, died Nov. 8, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. She was born in Coretta, W.Va., and she had resided in St. Augustine for 43 years. She was a housekeeper at the Best Western Hotel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with Pastor Joe Foster and Hubert Asbury, Bethel Tabernacle Church, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Survivors include her husband. C.H. Lawrence, one daughter, Donna Tart, a son, Ronnie Lawrence, all of St. Augustine; five sisters, June Geier, Mt. Dora, Jo Ann Baggerly, Jacksonville, Helen Chewning, Cucumber, W.Va., Patty Somosky, Marietta, Ga., Eva Matney, Berwind, W.Va.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Thomas Pierce
Thomas A. Pierce, 70, Anderson, Ind., died Nov. 2, 1998, at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, Ind. He was born in Oil City, Pa., and he moved to Anderson nearly 48 years ago from Pennsylvania. He was a member of Park Place Church of God, and he retired from Anderson Community Schools in 1983, where he taught school in the business department at Madison Heights High School. He owned the Tom Pierce Insurance Agency, and he was a financial planner. He also served as a lay minister for the Park Place Church of God, and he had been a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Pathway Class at the church. He was a life member of the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants.
Funeral services were held Nov. 6 at Park Place Church of God, with Pastor Edward Nelson officiating. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery. Those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to Anderson University or Habitat for Humanity, and send them to POB 3674, St. Augustine, 32085.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Pierce; his mother, Gladys Pierce, Franklin, Pa.; two daughters, Beth Ann Knouff, Joan E. McManigell, both of Anderson; one son, Thomas D. Pierce, St. Augustine; two brothers, Richard E. Pierce, Franklin, Wayne E. Pierce, Oil City; three sisters, Dr. Mary Hope Woodring, Howard, Pa., Marlene Faith Oberman, Portsmouth, Va., Charity Gay Pierce, Eldred, Pa.; two grandsons and a great-grandson.

Charlotte Smith
Charlotte Smith, 84, St. Augustine, died Nov. 9, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and she had resided here for the past 13 years. She was a retired saleslady, and she was a member of Cathedral Parish.
Private services are planned.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Smith, St. Augustine; one daughter, Maureen Stark, St. Augustine; two sons, Stephen Smith, St. Augustine, Derek Smith, Corby, England; two sisters and one brother, all of England; and four grandchildren.
Craig Funeral Home is in charge.

Donald Wilson
Donald W. Wilson, 62, Houston, Texas, died Nov. 6, 1998, in Houston. He was born in Woodbury, N.J., and he was a former St. Augustine resident, having operated a construction business here before moving to Houston several years ago. He continued his business there.
Funeral services will be held in Elk Neck, Md., the home of his grandparents, where he often visited.
He was the father of the late Donnie Wilson.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis, one daughter, Jeanne Rabena, both of Houston; a sister, Gail Burr, St. Augustine; one brother, Douglas Wilson, Tuckerton, N.J.; and four grandchildren.

Donald Jordan
Donald Jordan, RPA, 70, Switzerland, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, after a seven-months battle with a rare virus.
``He fought a good fight and his battle is won....''
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Mandarin United Methodist Church, 11270 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Hephzibah Cemetery, Dixie Union, Ga. The Rev. John W. Harrington and the Rev. Patrice Spencer will officiate.
His wife, Mary Lois Pagett, whom he wed Jan. 28, 1949, survives him.
Don was the baby of 13 children born to Alec Randel and Corean Boyette Jordan in Ware Co., Georgia.
Other survivors are two brothers, J. Foster Jordan (Dorothy) and A.R. Jordan (Hilda); two sisters, F. Lucille Davis (Thurman) and N. Laverne Patterson, all who reside in Dixie Union, Ga.
He has numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews in Jacksonville. Among them are M. Monroe Jordan (Evelyn), Lonnie E. Jordan (Christa), J.W. (Jim) Jordan (Tina), Kenneth M. Jordan, Ronnie R. Jordan (Sandi), Linda Faye Greene (David), DeAwna Wallace (Phil), William L. Purvis (Jacki), Evanell Turner, Okilee Killen.
Godsons: Matthew Jordan Barker, Thomas Cody Edenfield, Jason Sean Bogin, Timothy Brian Robertson, A.J. (Jerry) Edenfield, Philip B. Allen, R. Bradley Allen (Pam).
God daughters: Deborah Dawn Edenfield, Rene Sue DeGoursey Lown (Eric), Katherine Peabody DeGoursey (Mark).
Residing in White, Ga., are Dale B. Kissick (Kate), Jason W. Kissick and A. (Drew) R. Kissick.
Many other family members reside in the Dixie Union area.
Also surviving Don are the two ``other women'' in his life: Floe E. DeGoursey (Mrs. Leo R.) and Sandra L. Mixon (Mrs. J. Dallas.)
Pallbearers in Jacksonville will be his Godsons: Donald J. Mixon, J.D. (Jim) Mixon Jr., Mark A. DeGoursey, Gary L. DeGoursey and their fathers, J. Dallas Mixon Sr. and Leo R. DeGoursey.
Pallbearers in Dixie Union will be his nephews Larry W. Davis, Ronnie R. Davis, Wilbert J. Turner, Wayne Boland, Jerry Peace and J.W. (Jim) Jordan.
Don moved to Jacksonville in 1947 and worked for Adams Venetian Blind Company. He was drafted, but chose to join the Navy and served from 11/51-11/55. Last rate earned was AE1. He served in ATU501 at NAS, Corpus Christi, Texas.
When he and Mary returned to Jax, he went to work for Fairchild Aircraft in St. Augustine and then joined Prudential in Feb. '58 in the machine repair department.
He wore many hats in his 34-year Pru career. Don was the first fire marshal for SCHO and scripted the first fire safety rules for the building. He also created the first Van Pool Program. He was in charge of security. When he retired in Feb. '92, he was the leasing consultant for both the Pru home office buildings.
Immediately after retirement, Don threw his hat in the political ring and was elected county commissioner, district one, St. Johns County, in Nov. '92. He had an outstanding four-year term and was instrumental in bringing the World Golf Village to St. Johns County. He started the work to secure a permanent home for the Switzerland Fire Department. He also began the plans to turn the old scallop plant in Orangedale into a recreation center for that area.
He was chairman of the Board of County Commissioners Nov. '95-'96.
He served on many projects between Duval and St. Johns counties, as he worked to bring the counties closer together. He served on Mayor John A. Delaney's Cecil Field Development Comm. in 1997. He served on the Jacksonville Southbank Redevelopment Association, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Citizens Advisory Commission for the replacement of the I.W. Acosta Bridge, the Fuller Warren Bridge and connecting roadways, and the widening of the Buckman Bridge.
He was a past member of the Jacksonville Trans. Authority (JTA). His latest position was properties manager for the Mandarin United Methodist Church.
Don was active in his church, the chamber of commerce, Republican Party of St. Johns County, past president of the Friends of the Library and past president of the Switzerland Community Association and president emeritus of the Switzerland/Grove Bluff Neighborhood Association.
He was on the board of Hospice Northeast. Don was a founding member of the Society of Real Property Administrations when he earned his designation of RPA in 1977 from BOMA - Building Owners and Managers Association. He graduated from Jacksonville University in '73 with a B.S. degree, major in management. He also held a degree in electronics engineering.
Don served as a volunteer fireman with the Hogan Springs-Glen Station for many years. He received the Mimi and Lee Adams Environmental Award and also was awarded the first Prudential Orville E. Beale award for community leadership in 1977. He was a charter member of the Top of the Rock Toastmasters Club of Pru. He also had been a 20-year member of the Duval County Sheriff's Speakers Bureau.
Don's family will receive friends today and Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd. No viewing at the church. Interment services in Georgia will be handled by the Music Funeral Home, Waycross, Ga.
Lunch will be provided in Georgia for those who attend the interment service.
Flowers will be well received. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Capitol Fund of the Mandarin United Methodist Church.
Food is gratefully declined.
Thank you so much for all the cards, calls, offers of help, visits, prayers, good deeds and food that have been received since Don's health problems began on Jan. 5, 1998.

Catherine Little
Catherine Mae Gifford Little, 85, Parrottsville, Tenn., died Oct. 28, 1998, at Baptist Hospital, Newport, Tenn. She was born in Willimantic, Conn., and she was a former St. Augustine resident, serving as a hair stylist here. She was a member of Ancient City Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 31 at Hillcrest Mausoleum Chapel, and burial followed in Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Wells Funeral Home, Waynesville, Tenn., was in charge.
Mrs. Little was the wife of the late Kenneth R. Little. He died in 1951.
Survivors include four daughters, Sally Chesterfield, Linda Freed, both of Ocala, Mary Watkins, Parrottsville, Christina Little, St. Augustine; two sons, Howard Little, San Antonio, Texas, Peter Little, Hollywood; three sisters, Marion Smith, Dorothy Senior, Waity Keller, one brother, Charles Gifford, 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Judie Smith
Judie Marie Smith, 52, and her daughter, Christi Smith Sessoms, 28, both of Brantley, Ala., died Nov. 2, 1998, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Both were former residents of St. Augustine.
Funeral services are planned at 10 a.m. Thursday at Springhill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wayne Webber officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Hugh Frank Smith, Brantley; two children, Christopher Michael Smith, Avondale, Ariz., Billy Jack Vaughn Smith, Luverne; two sisters, Geri Vaughn Foster, St. Augustine, Charlotte Vaughn Isley, Brantley; five grandchildren and other relatives.

Christi Sessoms
Mrs. Sessoms is survived by her husband, William Leslie Sessoms Jr., three children, Christopher Ryan Sessoms, Brittni Danielle Sessoms, Ansley Brooke Sessoms, her father, Hugh Frank Smith, her grandmother, Edna Vae Smith, all of Brantley; and two brothers, Christopher Michael Smith and Billy Jack Vaughn Smith. Other relatives also survive.
The Turner Funeral Home, Luverne, Ala., is in charge.

Gertrude Stanton
Gertrude Agnes Stanton, 80, St. Augustine, died Nov. 2, 1998, at Regents Park Nursing Home, Jacksonville. She was born in Calverton, L. I., N.Y., and she was a longtime resident of St. Augustine. She was a member of Cathedral Parish, where she volunteered in the Bell Tower Gift Shop. She was a member of the Ladies of Fatima.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday at Craig Funeral Home chapel. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Stanton, St. Augustine; two sons, William Stanton, Jacksonville, Kevin Stanton, St. Augustine; four sisters, Agatha Meyer, Norfolk, Conn., Jerry McGettigan, Camden, N.J., Lillian Clark, Connecticut, Claire Torre, East Islip, L.I., N.Y.; and three brothers, Frank Twomey, Miami, David Twomey, Calverton, Chris Twomey, Jamesport, N.Y.

Joan Brinkhoff
Funeral services for Joan (Honey) Brinkhoff, 92, St. Augustine, who died Oct. 31, 1998, at Flagler Hospital, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dr. Kerry Hinkley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 6 p.m. today.

Rhett Sapp
Memorial services for Rhett David Sapp, infant son of Terry and Dawn Sapp, will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church, with Todd Carr, associate pastor, officiating. The infant died Oct. 28, 1998, in Flagler Hospital.
