Funeral services for Lenora Sykes, 90, who died Nov. 30, 1998, in Atlanta, Ga., will be held at 10 a.m. today at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. S. Dwight McQueen, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Palatka Memorial Gardens.

Mary Poli Smith, 81, St. Augustine, died Dec. 4, 1998, at the St. Augustine Health Center. She was born in Fernandina Beach, and she had resided in St. Augustine most of her life. She retired from the St. Augustine Alligator Farm, where she worked in the gift shop. She was a member of Cathedral Parish.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine with the Rev. Father Patrick Cooke, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Prayers will be said at 5 p.m. Sunday at Craig Funeral Home chapel. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Sybil Briggs
Sybil Adeline Briggs, 91, St. Augustine, died Dec. 6, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. She was born in Howard County, Md., and she had resided here for the past two years.
Survivors include two sisters, Rosemarie Lynard, St. Augustine, and Helen Scribner, Wheaton, Md.
Funeral services will be held at a later date with the Molesworth Funeral Home, Damascus, Md., in charge.

Betty Dyess
Betty Lou Dyess, 64, Palatka, died Dec. 4, 1998, at her home, following an extended illness. She was born in Roanoke, Va., and she had resided in Putnam County since 1954, moving there from Hastings. She owned and operated Catering by Betty Dyess for 16 years, and previously, she'd worked for five years in various capacities with the Putnam County School System. She was a 1953 graduate of Hastings High School, and she was a member of Lemon Heights Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home, with C.L. Overturf Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Palatka Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m., today,

J.T. Lewis
J.T. ``Shorty'' Lewis, 74, Palatka, died Dec. 6, 1998, at his home, following a long illness. He was born in High Springs, and he had resided in Palatka for the past 46 years, moving there from Riverdale. He grew up in both St. Augustine and Riverdale.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was wounded in the Battle of Cassina in Italy and was awarded the Bronze Star. He had been employed by the former Hudson Pulp and Paper Corporation, now Georgia Pacific in Palatka from 1949-62. He later owned and operated Shorty's Phillips 66 Station and Shorty's Union 76 Station in Palatka. He was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Palatka, where he was active with the United Methodist Men, and he helped start Boy Scout Troop 234 in Palatka. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Palatka, with the Rev. Gary Isner officiating. Burial will be in Palatka Memorial Gardens, with military honors. Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home chapel, Palatka, from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Deborah Sue Dygan Masters, 50, Elkton, died Dec. 2, 1998, at her home, following a long illness. She was born in Greensburg, Pa., and she graduated from Hempfield Area Senior High School. She attended nursing school in Pittsburgh, and she retired as a Registered Nurse from West Penn Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at San Sebastian Catholic Church, SR 16.

Eula Frances Patterson, 75, St. Augustine, died Dec. 6, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. She was born in Bristol, Tenn., and she was a retired LPN. She was of the Episcopal faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Dale Marie Abshure, Waldorf, Md., Sharon Taylor, Ponte Vedra Beach, Judy Gregorc, Port Orange; one son, Robert Patterson, St. Augustine; two sisters, Nora Phippins, Chesapeake, Va., Virginia Twines, Gracy, Va.; one brother, Dewey Lee Cecil, St. Augustine; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Christina Thomas
Christina Stedman Thomas, 39, Jacksonville, died Dec. 6, 1998, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Bangor, Maine, and she was reared in St. Augustine. She had resided in Jacksonville for the past 13 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, and she was employed at Memorial Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Hobson Auditorium, First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, with the Rev. Calvin Carr officiating.

Theodore Joseph Cyr, 89, St. Augustine, died Dec. 6, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. He was born Quebec, Canada, and he had resided here since 1952. He owned and operated Cyr's Garage on Anastasia Boulevard, and he was a charter member of AARP No. 4425, St. Augustine Beach. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree; a past faithful navigator of the Knights of Columbus; and he'd served as a usher at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine for 29 years. At the time of his death, he was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anastasia Catholic Church. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Prayers will be said at 5 p.m. today at the church. Friends may call at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
Survivors include one daughter, Claire J. Matilda J. Halyard, 73, 948 W. Fourth St., died Nov. 25, 1998. She was born in St. Augustine, and she was active in the Share Program, Chapter 4, Order of Eastern Star, and Heroines of Jericho. She was a member of the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine.
