Flora Quilty
Flora Moir Quilty, who celebrated her 100th birthday Sept. 8, died Dec. 7, 1998, at the Samantha Wilson Care Center at BayView. She was born in Malden, Mass., and she had resided in St. Augustine since 1972, moving here with her husband, the late Lt. Col. Ralph Goodrich Quilty. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and she was an emeritus member of the St. Augustine Order of Eastern Star. During World War II, she served in the Massachusetts Women's Defense Corps; she was a district leader of Girl Scouts in Massachusetts; and she was a mother adviser in the Masonic Order of Rainbow for Girls in Massachusetts.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holten Street Cemetery, Danvers, Mass.
Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a contribution, in her memory, to the Association for Retarded Citizens, 500 E. Boarder St., Arlington, Texas 76010.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha Ruth Tufts, Summerville, S.C., Grace Natalie Smith, St. Augustine; one son, Ralph Moir Quilty, Needham, Mass.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Eugene Scarberry
Eugene C. Scarberry, 66, St. Augustine Beach, died Dec. 8, 1998, at his home. He was born in South Carolina, and he had resided here for the past eight years. He was a retired heavy equipment mechanic and operator.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Memorial Park, with the Rev. S. Dwight McQueen, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Scarberry, St. Augustine Beach; and one brother, Carlos Scarberry, Millersport, Ohio.

Christina Thomas
Memorial services for Christina Stedman Thomas, 39, Jacksonville, who died Dec. 6, 1998, following a lengthy illness, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Hobson Auditorium, First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, with the Rev. Calvin Carr officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Children's Musical Ministry at First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Thomas was a former St. Augustine resident.

Phyllis Maddox
Funeral services for Phyllis J. Maddox, 66, who died Dec. 7, 1998, at her home in Jacksonville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Riverside Baptist Church, Park Street, Jacksonville. Burial follows in Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville. Friends may call at Kyle-McLellan Funeral Home, 17 W. Union St., Jacksonville, from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Survivors include her husband, William H. Maddox Jr., Jacksonville; her mother, Pauline Benne, a brother, Ronald Malson, both of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Carol Ann Field, St. Augustine, Cathy Flynn, Jacksonville; two granddaughters, Traci Turner, Tricia Benson; and three great-grandsons, all of Greensboro, N.C.

Willie Anderson Sr.
Willie Anderson Sr., 80, St. Augustine, died Dec. 8, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. He was born in Allendale, S.C., and he had resided in Florida for more than 38 years. He was a member of the Church of God in Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the E.A. Kelley Sr. Memorial Church of God in Christ, with E.A. Kelley Jr., pastor, and Elder Early Brown, eulogist, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Chase and Son Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 9 p.m., Friday, and at the church from 2 p.m. Saturday until the hour of services.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Anderson, St. Augustine; 10 sons, Willie Jr., Frank, Everette, Lavar, all of St. Augustine, Donald, Hartford, Conn., Bill, Detroit, Mich., Clarence, West Palm Beach, Harold, Atlanta, Ga., Joseph, Jacksonville, Angelo, Orlando; four daughters, Shirley Moore, Rozenia Harris, both of St. Augustine, Mary Edwards, Patricia Floyd, both of Orlando; two brothers, Nathaniel Anderson, St. Augustine, Karie McKalvin, Freeport, Texas; three sisters, Annie Belle McCloud, Philadelphia, Pa., Beatrice Blocker, Doretha Jones, both of Miami; 70 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.

Harold Carver
Harold R. Carver, 71, St. Augustine, died Dec. 9, 1998, at his home. Arrangements will be announced by Craig Funeral Home.

Matilda Halyard
Memorial services for Matilda J. Halyard, 73, 948 W. Fourth St., who died Nov. 25, 1998, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church, 86 M.L. King Ave.

Elmo Higdon
Funeral services for Elmo Higdon, 85, St. Augustine, who died Dec. 7, 1998, at Flagler Hospital, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Victory Tabernacle, with the Rev. Homer Brown, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pellicer Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Clara Samec
Clara B. Samec, 65, Green Cove Springs, died Dec. 8, 1998. She was a native of Rosehill, N.C., and a longtime resident of the Green Cove area. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Middleburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Helm Funeral Home chapel, Green Cove Springs, with the Rev. Ed Wineburg officiating. Burial follows in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Helm chapel from 7-9 p.m., today.
Survivors include her husband, Herman P. Samec; two sons, Philip and David Samec; and six grandchildren.

Willie Anderson Sr.
Funeral services for Willie Anderson Sr., 80, St. Augustine, who died Dec. 8, 1998, at Flagler Hospital, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the E.A. Survivors include three daughters, Diana Aragon, Spain, Mary Kay Carver, St. Augustine, JoAnn Flaig, Riverside, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

David Judd
David J. Judd, 65, St. Augustine, died Dec. 10, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. Arrangements will be announced by Craig Funeral Home.

Margaret Clark
Funeral services for Margaret (June) Clark, 75, St. Augustine, who died Dec. 10, 1998, at Flagler Hospital, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Memorial Presbyterian Church, with Dr. John Hunter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a contribution, in her memory, to the American Heart Association, 5851 St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, 32207.

David Judd
David J. Judd, 65, St. Augustine, died Dec. 10, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. Masonic memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. today at the chapel of Craig Funeral Home. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Elizabeth Yost
Elizabeth Yost, 87, St. Augustine, died Dec. 12, 1998, at the Samantha Wilson Care Center at BayView. She was born in Romania, and she had resided here since 1996. She attended St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
Funeral services and burial will be held in Bayside, N.Y., with the Francis X. Hatton Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Morris, St. Augustine; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Frances Gay
Frances Ann Gay, 69, St. Augustine, died early today at her home. Arrangements will be announced by Craig Funeral Home.

Sister Rosarii
Sister Maria Rosarii Gentile, SSJ, 85, died Dec. 13, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. For the past 15 years, she was a resident of Lourdes Hall, home for the infirmed and retired Sisters of St. Joseph. While at Lourdes Hall, she served the Sisters until her health did not allow her to continue. Sister was born in Detroit, Mich., and the family later moved to Miami. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1934.
Sister served as teacher in many schools throughout Florida, including St. Agnes and St. Benedict in St. Augustine; St. Peter Claver School, Fernandina; Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, Ybor City; Sacred Heart, Lake Worth; Gesu School, Miami; St. Joseph Academy, Jacksonville; and St. Joseph College, Jensen Beach. She also did catechetical and social work in Palm Beach and Homestead.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday and vigil prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Both services will be held in the chapel of St. Joseph Convent. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a contribution, in her memory, to the Sisters of St. Joseph Development Fund, to be used for the needs of the retirement home and the ministries of the Sisters.
Survivors include two sisters, Florence Mascars, Boca Raton, Rita Bowler, Coto De Caza, Calif.; and two brothers, Joseph, Gainesville, and Charles, Miami.

Thomas Harris
Thomas James Harris, 88, St. Augustine, died Dec. 13, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. He was born in New York City, and he had resided here for the past three years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Private services are planned.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Mule, Central Islip, N.Y.; a son, Thomas Patrick Harris, Sebastian; one sister, Catherine Harris, New York City; and seven grandchildren.
Craig Funeral Home is in charge.

Sadie Lee
Sadie F. Lee, 93, died Dec. 12, 1998, at the St. Augustine Retirement Center. She was born in Miami, and she was preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick E. Lee Sr., and a daughter, Sadie Frances Lee.
Private services will be held at a later date. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a donation, in her memory, to Hospice Northeast, 1400 Old Dixie Hwy., Suite A, St. Augustine, 32086.
Survivors include one son, Freddie Lee Jr., St. Augustine; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Uhley Stanley
Uhley ``Slim'' Stanley, 73, St. Augustine, died Dec. 14, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. He was born in Milan, Ga., and he had resided here for the past 32 years. He was a former and operator of a retail shop on St. George Street. He was also formerly employed at McDonald's Drug Store.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. S. Dwight McQueen, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn Thomas, St. Augustine; a stepdaughter, Diana Thornton, Atlanta, Ga.; one stepson, John Thornton, Atlanta; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Eddie Vickers
Eddie Lee Vickers, 80, 92 DeHaven St., died Dec. 10, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of St. Augustine, and he was employed by the St. Augustine and St. Johns County Recreation Department for more than 35 years. He attended Florida Normal Industrial and Memorial College, and he was a referee in the state for more than 40 years. He organized the Vickers Red Raiders youth football team during the 1960s, and he operated the youth center at the Little Links Complex.
Vickers was instrumental in training the youth in basketball and football for the then-Coach A. Malcolm Jones of Richard J. Murray High School Bulldogs. He was a member of Hurst Chapel AME Church, and he was a member of the American Legion Post No. 194, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, receiving the American Theater Service Medal, EAME Service Medal with two bronze service starts, victory medal and World War II victory medal.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul AME Church, with Pastor John D. Williams, Hurst Chapel, officiating. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Friends may call at Chase chapel from 5 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, and at the church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the hour of services.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Vickers, a sister, Alberta Logan, both of St. Augustine; nephews, Joseph (Carol) Logan, Eric Lewis, Tyrone Ofide, Horace Lewis, all of St. Augustine; nieces, Rachel Baptist, Brooklyn, N.Y., Barbara Smith, Jacksonville; and other relatives.

Frances Gay
Frances Ann Gay, 69, St. Augustine, died Dec. 15, 1998, at her home. She was born in Williamston, Mich., and she had resided here since 1978. She was retired from the St. Augustine Alligator Farm, where she was a bookkeeper and worked in retail sales. She was a member of Trinity Chapel Ministries.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Donovan Tinsley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Flowers are gratefully accepted, or those wishing may make a contribution, in her memory, to Hospice Northeast, 1400 Old Dixie Hwy., Suite A, St. Augustine, 32086.
