Frances Dean
Frances M. Dean, 80, St. Augustine, died Feb. 20, 2000, at her home. She was born in Ehrhardt, S.C., and she had resided here most of her life. She retired as switchboard operator at the St. Johns County Courthouse, and she was a member of the Unitarian Church.
A gathering of friends is planned from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Craig Funeral Home chapel. Private burial services will take place at a later date.
Flowers are gratefully accepted, or those wishing may make a donation, in her memory, to Community Hospice Northeast, 1955 U.S. 1 South, Suite D3, St. Augustine, 32086.
She was predeceased by her husband, James W. Dean, who died in 1979; one daughter, Barbara Wallace, and one sister, Helen Ingram.
Survivors include two daughters, Katherine Virginia Dunn, Melbourne, Sylvia Xynides, St. Augustine; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jack McCullough
Jack McCullough, Dumfries, Va., died Feb. 18, 2000. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodbridge and of the Prince William County Chamber of Commerce.
A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Woodbridge. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to the building fund of First Baptist Church of Hastings, POB 77, Hastings, 32145.
Survivors include his wife, Judy McCullough, Dumfries; his mother, Louise McCullough, Hastings; and one son, Shaun McCullough, Fairfax, Va.
Old Town Funeral Home is in charge.

Emma Prescott
Emma Prescott, 93, Preston, Md., formerly of Miami, died Feb. 20, 2000, at the William Hill Manor. She was born in Lake City, the daughter of the late Robert and Barbara Deese Wise, and she was the wife of the late Walter Prescott. He died in 1962. At one time, she had worked as a receptionist at the Biscayne Manor Retirement Home, Miami.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Frampton-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, Federalsburg, Md., wit hthe Rev. Neil Andersen officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine.
Survivors include one daughter, Myrle Schanken, Choptank, Md.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Prescott was the last of six children.

Judith Richmond
Judith Laura Lyden Richmond, 60, St. Augustine, died Feb. 18, 2000, at Flagler Hospital. She had resided here since 1976, moving to St. Augustine from Connecticut. She was extremely active in Special Olympics and Catholic Charities, and she was a member of Cathedral Parish.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Lyden II.
Survivors include a son, William F. Lyden III, a daughter, Kathy Gauthier, her mother, Helen M. Thompson, all of St. Augustine; two brothers, Paul V. Hunt Jr., Bedford, N.H., John J. Norton Jr., Beverly, Mass.; a sister, Kathleen Moore, St. Augustine; three grandchildren and other relatives.
Croyle Funeral Home is in charge.

Col. John Rooks
Col. John Jerome Rooks, 81, Lawrenceville, Ga., died Feb. 19, 2000. He was born in Savannah, Ga., and he was retired chief of staff for the Florida Department of Military Affairs. He was a veteran of World War II, having fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Bronze Star. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
A memorial Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, with Father James Fennessy serving as celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation, in his memory, to the American Heart Association, 70 Perimeter Center East, Suite 7010, Atlanta, Ga. 30346.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Barker Rooks, Lawrenceville; three sons, John Jerome Rooks Jr., James G. Rooks, both of Lawrenceville, Stephen Barker Rooks, Acworth, Ga.; two sisters, Agnes and Sarah Mahoney, both of Portsmouth, Va.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Bill Read Funeral Home, Duluth, Ga., Chapel, is in charge.

Estelle Stonebraker
Estelle Stonebraker, 89, St. Augustine, died Feb. 21, 2000, at Flagler Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Ludwig I. Geyer and Madeline C. McDonnell, and she moved to St. Augustine in 1972, after residing in West Lebanon, Maine, and Newburyport, Mass.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Adolph Geyer.
Friends may call at Croyle Funeral Home from 4 go 5 p.m., today. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Maine.
Survivors include three sons, David Stonebraker, Hebron, Maine, Dr. Peter Stonebraker, Deerfield, Ill., Dr. Michael Stonebraker, Bedford, N.H.; and numerous other relatives.

Irene Swiderski
Irene M. Swiderski, 67, Elkton, died Feb. 20, 2000, in Flagler Hospital. She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and she had resided in Wilmington, N.C., prior to moving to Elkton in 1997. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, and she also held membership in the Art Association and was active in the Duplicate Bridge Club.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Yardley, Pa.
Mrs. Swiderski was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, who died in 1998.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Kelly Hamilton, Elkton, Joann McLaughlin, Long Beach, Calif., Judy Bailen, Wellsville, N.Y., Jeanne Schevets, Zionsville, Pa.; a sister, Mary Zita Nicoletta, Olean, N.Y.; one brother, Ford Ruggieri, Olean; and seven grandchildren.
Croyle Funeral Home is in charge.

Joseph Bujno
Funeral services for Joseph Chester Bujno, 27, St. Augustine, who died Jan. 6, 2000, at Shands Hospital, Jacksonville, from injuries he received in an accident on State Road 16, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with Pastor Tom Outley, Church on the Rock Ministries, officiating.
Lucinda Jones
Lucinda Jones, 88, Hastings, died Jan. 5, 2000, at Flagler Hospital, following an extended illness. She was born in Perry, Ga., and she had resided in Hastings for over 70 years. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where she served on the usher and missionary boards, and as a Sunday School teacher and in the senior choir.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Golden Jr., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, Hastings. Friends may call at D.A. Boyd and Sons Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m., today, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. They may call at the church from noon Tuesday until the hour of services.
Survivors include one son, Sylvester Channey, Ladson, S.C.; sisters, Laura Kate Smith, Fort Valley, Ga., Eloise (Mrs. Demetrius) Woods, Warner-Robbins, Ga.; and other relatives.

L.B. Walton
A memorial vigil and visitation for L.B. ``Texas Slim'' Walton, 82, Palatka, who died Jan. 3, 2000, at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, following an extended illness, will continue from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at St. Mary's Missionary Baptist Church, 69 Washington St. Private burial is planned.
Karl N. Flagg Serenity Memorial Chapel, Palatka, is in charge.

Samuel L. Washington Sr.
Samuel L. Washington Sr., 73, 28 N. Whitney St., died Jan. 5, 2000, at Flagler Hospital. He was born in Millen, Ga., and he attended local schools. He spent most of his life in St. Augustine before moving to Daytona Beach. During his illness, he moved to Rex, Ga., to be with his daughter. He returned to St. Augustine three months ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. He graduated from Florida Normal Industrial College Vocational School of Electricians. He was a former member of American Legion Post No. 194, and he retired from the city of Daytona Beach.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Hezekiah Jr., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Chase and Son Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 9 p.m., today, and at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of services.
The funeral cortege will assemble at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at 28 N. Whitney St., Apt. 8.
Survivors include daughters, Gloria Jean (Mrs. Edward) Hill, Rex, Ga., Phyllis W. (Mrs. John Sr.) Bush, Savannah, Ga.; sons Sammie L. Washington Jr., Edward E. Washington, both of St. Augustine, Donald Washington, Riverdale, Ga.; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Jack Beach
Laurie Edward (Jack) Beach, 71, St. Augustine, died Jan. 9, 2000, at Flagler Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of St. Johns County, and he was a retired farmer. He was involved in Tocoi Farms for many years, and he served on the board of directors for the Hastings Potato Growers Association. He was of the Baptist faith, attending Moultrie Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Cemetery, Elkton, with Dr. Armando Silverio, retired Baptist pastor, officiating. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 8 p.m., today.
Flowers are gratefully accepted, or those wishing may make a donation, in his memory, to Moultrie Baptist Church, 3699 U.S. 1 South, St. Augustine, 32086.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Beach, one daughter, Peggy Quigley, a son and daughter-in-law, Laurie E. (Bubba) Jr. and Judy Beach, all of St. Augustine; a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Meek Lee, Palatka; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas H. and Dolores Beach, St. Augustine; and one grandchild, Jacob Quigley.

Gladys Davis
Gladys Davis, 86, Hastings, died Jan. 18, 2000, at Flagler Hospital, following a long illness.
Arrangements will be announced by Coleman's Mortuary, Hastings.

Bill Fox
R.E. (Bill) Fox Jr., 77, St. Augustine, died Jan. 18, 2000, at Flagler Hospital. He was born in Caperton, W.Va., and he had resided here since 1952. For 30 years, he owned and operated Fox Auto Service on San Marco Avenue. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II, and he was a member of Ashlar Lodge No. 98, F&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with Dr. David Huffstetler officiating.
Masonic rites will be bestowed by members of Ashlar Lodge NO. 98, F&AM, and all members are asked to meet at Craig chapel to attend services for their late brother.
Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 1955 U.S. 1 South, Suite D 3, St. Augustine, 32086.

James Johnson
James Clifford Johnson, 77, St. Augustine, died Jan. 17, 2000, at Shands Hospital, Jacksonville. He had resided in St. Augustine most of his life. He was an eight-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served during World War II, and he then served 32 years with the Florida National Guard. He was a member of the National Guard Association of the United States, the Florida National Guard Officers Association, Officers Club of St. Augustine, Retired Officers Association, Second Marine Division Association, American Legion and the VFW. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel of Craig Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bobby Crum, associate pastor of Anastasia Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday.
Flowers are gratefully accepted, or those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to the St. Augustine Humane Society, 1665 Old Moultrie Road, St. Augustine, 32086.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte ``Polly'' Johnson, St. Augustine; and two sisters, Judy Stanford, Jacksonville, Shirley Ann Johnstone, St. Augustine.

Linda Lantz
Memorial services for Linda Gail Lantz, 43, St. Augustine, who died Jan. 17, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital, Jacksonville, will be held at 6 p.m. today at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Father James Orumpakkatt, CMI, associate pastor at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine, officiating.

Gladys Davis
Funeral services for Mother Gladys (Grandma Dear) Davis, 86, Hastings, who died Jan. 18, 2000, following an extended illness, will be held at noon today at the Lord’s Temple Church, with Elder Lawson Foster officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, St. Augustine. Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. today until the hour of services.

James Derossett
James Eugene Derossett, 52, Jacksonville, died Jan. 19, 2000, in Jacksonville. He was born in Auxier, Ky., and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was of the Baptist faith.
Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Baptist Church, St. Augustine.
Survivors include two daughters, Kristi Derossett, St. Augustine, Beverly Adkins, Auxier; four brothers, a sister and four grandchildren.
