Margaret Clarke Ekstam, 86, North Branford, Conn., died Aug. 5, 1997, at Connecticut Hospice, Inc., Branford, following a short illness. She was the wife of the late Widmer L. Ekstam Sr., and she had resided in North Branford for the past five years. Prior to that time, the New York City native had resided in St. Augustine and Wantagh, L.I., N.Y. She was a retired bookkeeper, having worked for F.P. Wiedersum Architects, Valley Stream, L.I., N.Y. She was a member of North Branford Seniors.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at North Branford Congregational Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y. Those wishing may make a contribution, in her memory, to the North Branford Senior Center, POB 287, North Branford, Conn. 06471.
Survivors include one son, Widmer L. Ekstam, Bohemia, L.I., N.Y.; a daughter, Christine Ekstam Wanerka, Branford; and six grandchildren.

Frank Johnson
Frank Johnson, 49, Elkton, died Aug. 2, 1997, at Windsor Manor Nursing Home, Starke, following a long illness. He was born in Alabama, and he attended schools there. He later came to Florida and worked as a migrant laborer.
Graveside services will to be held at 1 p.m. today at Armstrong Cemetery, with Evangelist Christopher Coleman officiating.

James Russell
James Sanford Russell, 76, of St. Augustine died Aug. 8, 1997, at his home. He was born in High Point, N.C., and had resided in St. Augustine since 1961. He was a veteran of World War II serving as a master sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Memorial Park with Pastor Ken Allen of Grace Bible Chapel officiating. Friends may call on Sunday, 5-7 p.m., at Craig Funeral Home. Russell, all of St. Augustine; two sisters, Frances Elkins and Anna Rose McKinney, both of High Point; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mark S. Williams, 39, died Aug. 6, 1997, in Hastings. He was born and reared in St. Augustine, and he was a self-employed carpenter.

Survivors include a son, Mark Stephen Williams Jr., Colorado Springs, Col.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Harold Williams, Chipley; a brother, Kenan P. Joseph Austin Goodall, St. Augustine, previously of Statesville, N.C., died Aug. 8, 1997.
Survivors include his first wife, Elizabeth Sanders, Olin, N.C.; five of his seven children: Elizabeth Jo Goodall, Gainesville, Eileen Marchant, Stanley Goodall, St. Augustine, Terry Goodall, Statesville, N.C., Larry Goodall, Lakeland; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Martha Knight, Patricia Crow, both of North Carolina.

Funeral services for Edward Joseph "Eddie" Mack, 79, 135 South St., who died Aug. 9, 1997, at his home, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Benedict the Moor church, with the Rev. Ruth Stephens
Ruth Kirkland Stephens, 100, died Aug. 2, 1997. She was born in Swainsboro, Ga., and she was the wife of the late Fred Lamar Stephens. She had lived in the Riverdale area of St. Johns County, making her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Woodrow Clemons. She was a lifelong Methodist, regularly attending Riverdale United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 5 at the chapel of the Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, Jacksonville, with Dr. Joseph R. Sweeny officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Sybil Daly, Santa Barbara, Calif., Charlotte Longfellow, Champaign, Ill., Kathleen Clemons, Riverdale; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Rosie Pearl Fuller, 39, Jacksonville, died Aug. 10, 1997, at the First Coast Health and Rehabilitative Center, Jacksonville. She was born in Tifton, Ga., and she had resided in Jacksonville for the past five months, moving there from St. Augustine. She had resided here since early childhood. She was a member of the St. Augustine Christian Center, and she had worked for the Department of Military Affairs for a year.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, with Elder E. Chris Washington officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Cemetery. Gretchen Conero, 64, St. Augustine, died Aug. 13, 1997, at her home. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had resided in St. Augustine for the past 8 years. She was an artist, a member of the Ethical Culture Society, and a member of the Ancient Mystical Order of the Rose and the Cross.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Craig Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donavan Tinsley officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Patricia Ureel
Patricia Lois Ureel, 73, West Linn, Ore., died Aug. 10, 1997, in West Linn. She was the wife of the late Joseph Ureel, and she was the Secretary of the Year in 1969 in Detroit, Mich.
She moved with her family to Fort Lauderdale in 1971, and while there she became corporate secretary at Sanford Industry. She was named to Who's Who in American Women and Who's Who in the Women of the World from 1975-78. She was the corporate secretary for Asphalt International, retiring in 1984. She moved to St. Augustine in 1987, where she volunteered at Flagler Hospital. She served as the first woman usher at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine.
Funeral services were held in Oregon.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at San Lorenzo Cemetery, with the Rev. Jeremiah Lambe, associate pastor of Cathedral Parish, officiating.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Ureel, Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Fry, West Linn; and five grandchildren.

Dr. J. Ross Bechtel
Dr. J. Ross Bechtel, 78, born Decatur, Ill., died Aug. 13, 1997, in Cape Coral. He and his late wife, Betty Lou Allison Bechtel, moved their family to Orlando in 1950. He was an osteopathic family physician and surgeon for 35 years in Orlando and one of the founders of Florida Hospital East, formerly known as Orlando General Hospital.
He was a 33rd degree Mason. He enjoyed boating, flying and being with his grandchildren. After retirement, he divided his time between his home in Franklin, N.C., and Florida. Most recently, he was a resident of Vilano Beach with his wife, Doris. He was an active member of the Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his son, Steven R. Bechtel and daughter-in-law, Carol, Winter Park; daughter, Stephanie B. Andrews, and son-in-law, Richard, Cape Coral; four grandchildren, Andrew R. Bechtel, Baton Rouge, La., Monica Andrews Bradstreet, Snellville, Ga., Matthew H. Bechtel, Alexandria, Va., Christopher A. Andrews, Moody AFB, Ga.; and his wife, Doris Bechtel, St. Augustine.
Funeral services will be held in Orlando at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, 301 N.E. Ivanhoe Blvd., Saturday, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m. A private interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
