Sister Michael Joseph Moran, SSJ, 80, died Aug. 21, 1997, at Flagler Hospital. She was born in County Clare, Ireland, and entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1938.
Sister served as principal, teacher, and librarian in schools throughout Florida, including St. Theresa School, Coral Gables; St. Mary's School, Miami; St. Agnes School, St. Joseph Academy, St. Augustine; St. Joseph Academy, Loretto; St. Joseph Academy, Fernandina; Immaculate Conception School, Christ the King School, St. Paul's School, Jacksonville; St. Joseph School, St. Petersburg; and St. James School, Orlando. Sister also served St. Joseph Parish, Winter Haven.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997, at 10 a.m., with a vigil prayer service held at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Both services will be held at the chapel of St. Joseph Convent. Burial will be at San Lorenzo Cemetery.
Those wishing may make a contribution in her memory to the Sisters of St. Joseph Development Fund, to be used for the needs of the Sisters of St. Joseph Retirement Home and the Ministries of the Sisters.
Survivors include a sister, Francis MacCavitt, Ireland; and several other relatives.

William Horace Bertles, 81, St. Augustine, died Aug. 20, 1997, in Flagler Hospital East. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and had lived here since the 1980s. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, having serviced in the U.S. Army. He was retired civil service Frankfort Armory technician.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Craig Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn; four daughters, Patricia, Joyce, Beverly and Penny; a son, Ricky; three step-children, Monica, Tammy and Clinton; a half-brother, Charles Bertles; and several grandchildren.

Memorial services for Miriam Cain Dusenbery, 73, St. Augustine, who died Aug. 20, 1997, in Jacksonville, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, with the Rev. Father Robert Baker, pastor of the Christ the King Catholic Church, officiating.

Florence E. Hinman, 66, St. Augustine Shores, died Aug. 21, 1997, at her home. She was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and came to St. Augustine five years ago from South Lyon, Mich. She was a retired medical technologist for the state of Michigan, working at the Northville Regional Psychiatric Hospital in Northville, Mich. She was a member of EMMA and the St. Augustine Concert Association.

She is survived by her husband, John E. Hinman; two daughters, Diane M. LeAnnais, Royal Oak, Mich., and Elaine M. Hinman-Sweeney, Houston, Texas; and a brother, Theodore J. Langousse, Burnaby, British Columbia.

Rev. Billy N. Holcomb, 61, St. Augustine, died Aug. 23, 1997, at Flagler Hospital West. He was born in Calica Rock, Ark., and had resided in St. Augustine since 1976. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. He was a veteran of Korea, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Claude Lee Wilson, 79, St. Augustine, died Aug. 24, 1997, at Vencor Hospital, Green Cove Springs. He was born in Jasper, Ga., and had resided in St. Augustine since 1964. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired carpenter from DESCO Marine, and a former member of of the VFW and the American Legion. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by one daughter, Christy Lee, St. Augustine; four sisters, Lola Brown, Calhoun, Ga., Lois Moss, Dalton, Ga., Bernice Duncan, Eva Reynolds, both of Jasper; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Anthony Celano
Anthony Joseph "Tony" Celano, 80 years of age, born February 7, 1917, died of congestive heart failure on Aug. 25, 1997, at 3:15 p.m.He was born in New York, N.Y., where he played baseball for the New York Yankees' farm club, until being drafted into the Army for World War II, in which he served as a staff sergeant and a gunner in the Air Force's B-17. He owned and operated gourmet butcher shops in both New York and Ft. Lauderdale. Fathering 10 children with his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Adele (Farnell) Celano, he personified the ultimate family man and a devoted husband through his loyalty, dedication, and insatiable love to all. His caring presence and sparkling smile will be sorely missed by us all. We will always remember him as a beautiful man having the patience and kindness of a saint with a wonderfully rare love of life and all mankind. As he has always raised up his family in the ways of the Lord - now he has gone home to be with his God and Savior - Jesus Christ.
Mr. Celano is survived by his wife, Dorothy Celano, St. Augustine; his 10 children, Joseph Celano, New Orleans, Roselle Wilson, Ft. Lauderdale, Luanne Fortney, Ft. Sylvanis Parsley
Sylvanis Vanis "Speedy" Parsley, 68, St. Augustine, died Aug. 26, 1997, at Flagler Hospital West. Born in Tompkinsville, Ky., he had lived in St. Augustine since 1947. He was employed by Florida East Coast Railway for 27 years and retired in 1991. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the St. Augustine Moose Lodge #1017, the American Legion Post #37, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4256.
Funeral services will held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the Craig Funeral Home, with David Davis, pastor of the St. Augustine Church of God, officiating.

Kathryn Talbert
Kathryn Bowman Talbert, 85, St. Augustine, died Aug. 27, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East. She was born in Williamsburg, Iowa, and had resided in St. Augustine since 1929. She was a retired business secretary from the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, and was also a retired registered nurse. She was a member of the Flagler Hospital Auxiliary with more than 10,000 hours of service, and was active in the Hug-a-Bear program at the hospital where she helped make stuffed bears for patients in the pediatrics unit. She was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Private services are planned.
She is survived by one son, David Talbert, Fayetteville, Ga., and three grandchildren.

Graveside services for John A. Thiele, 91, Kerrville, Texas, who died Aug. 26, 1997, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at San Lorenzo Cemetery. He was a longtime resident of St. Augustine, having spent his boyhood years here.

Jimmy L. Caswell, Hastings, died Aug. 23, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East, following a long illness. He was born in Nashville, Ga., where he attended Nashville High School. He later moved to Hastings, where he worked as a migrant worker.

John F. Staschiak, 61, Millerstown, Pa., and St. Augustine, died Aug. 26, 1997, at his home. He was born in Centerville, Pa., and he was the son of Mary Kennedy and the late John Staschiak. He was co-owner and manager of Moultrie Oaks Adult Retirement Community in St. Augustine, and a retired employee of UNISYS. He was a Marine Corps veteran, and commander of the St. Augustine Chapter of the Marine Corps League. He was a member of the Social Order of Owls, Newport, Pa., Newport American Legion Post 177, Newport Moose Lodge 1526, and the St. Augustine Elks.
Services were held today at 11 a.m. at Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, Pa., with the Rev. Anthony C. Hill officiating. Burial with full military honors was at Eshcol Cemetery.

Billy Harbin
Billy Harbin, 73, Jacksonville, passed away Aug. 27, 1997, at Memorial Medical Center in Jacksonville. Born in Oklahoma City, Okla., he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. In 1946, he played professional baseball for the St. Augustine Saints. He had resided in Jacksonville since 1953, and was retired from Crowley Marine where he worked as the freight traffic sales manager.
