Funeral services for Helen Anna Ayala, St. Augustine, who died Dec. 5, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, with the Rev. Tim Lindenfelser officiating. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home today from 5 to 8 p.m., and prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today.
Mrs. Ayala was born in Chicago, Ill., and she had resided here for the past 13 years. She was a member of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, and she worked as a fabricator at VAW.
She was preceded in death by a son, Albert Ayala.
She is survived by her husband, Jorge Ayala; four daughters, Sakeena Avila, Houston, Texas, Armina Toler, Marina Ayala, both of St. Augustine, Elena Ayala, Miami; five sons, Richard Ayala, St. Augustine, Jorge G. Ayala Jr., Jacksonville, Pedro Iwen, Warrenton, Mo., Tonio Iwen, St. Augustine, Carlo Iwen, Lockport, Ill.; three step-daughters, Elizabeth Pinto, Claudia Ayala, Olga Ayala, all of Chicago; four step-sons, Carlos Ayala, Fort Lauderdale, Jorge E. Ayala, Miami, Jugo Ayala, Hammond, Ind., Alonso Ayala, Colombia; a sister, Margaret Willis, Chicago; 32 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Chris Bravo
Chris Anthony Bravo Jr., 73, St. Augustine, died Dec. 6, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East. He was a lifelong resident of St. Augustine, and he was security guard at Barnett Bank. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 37, and he was a life member of Bass Masters. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Craig Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Clarence Dawley
Clarence Junior Dawley, 73, St. Augustine, died Dec. 5, 1997, at his home. He was born in Baldwinsville, N.Y. He was a former resident of Hannibal, N.Y., and he was a retired plumber. He was of the Methodist faith, and he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a 50-year member of the VFW, Post 2691.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Jacksonville Cemetery, Lysander, N.Y.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Garbus, Atoka, Tenn.; three sons, Harold Dawley, Oswego, N.Y., David Dawley, Jacksonville, Robert Dawley, Syracuse, N.Y.; three sisters, Neva Peters, Auburn, N.Y., Elizabeth Peters, Lakeland, Vera Sauve, Syracuse; one brother, Franklin Dawley, Elbridge, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ulysee Simmons
Ulysee "Porky" Simmons Jr., 46, Miami, died Dec. 6, 1997, at Parkway Regional Medical Center, Miami. He was born in St. Augustine, and he had resided in Miami for more than 20 years. He was a former member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, and he was a 1970 graduate of Richard J. Murray High School, lettering in football and serving as quarterback of the team. He spent four years in the U.S. Air Force, and he spent 21 years with the Dade County Sheriff's Department as a correctional officer.
He was a member of the Apostolic Revival Center, Miami.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Apostolic Revival Center, Miami.

William Cook
William "Bill" M. Cook, 77, Brandon, died Dec. 5, 1997, at Hawthorne Care Center. He was born in Live Oak, and he moved from St. Augustine in 1993 to Brandon. He was a plumber, and he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. While residing in St. Augustine, he was employed by Ginty Plumbing.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, with Pastor Mike Doud officiating.
Survivors include two brothers, Robert Cook, New Smyrna Beach, Marvin Cook, Brandon; and a sister, Eva McGehe, West Palm Beach.

Dr. Reginald Edson
Dr. Reginald C. Edson, 92, died Dec. 7, 1997, at the home of his daughter, West Simsbury, Conn. He was born in New Milford, Pa., and after earning his M.D. from Jefferson Medical College in 1931, he married Thelma "Fez" Fesmier. She died earlier this year in St. Augustine.
Dr. Edson was a recognized authority on tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases, and after a long and distinguished career in Connecticut, he left state service as deputy commissioner of health in 1971. He and his wife retired to St. Augustine and were among the very first residents of St. Augustine Shores. While here, they were actively involved in square dancing and bridge.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Dell, Martinsburg, W.Va., Elizabeth Crawford, Atlanta, Ga., Jean Perreault, West Simsbury; three sisters, Isabelle Gould, Freeport, L.I., Katherine Moore, Joan Huffman, Waynesburg, Pa.; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Thelma Hall
Thelma Lou Hall, 89, St. Augustine, died Dec. 8, 1997, at the St. Augustine Rehab and health Care Center. She was born in Americus, Ga., and she had resided here since 1954. She was a member of Ancient City Baptist Church, and she was active in the ACBC Keenagers group. She was also a member of the Joy Class at Mill Creek Baptist.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ancient City Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Northcutt, pastor of Ancient City Baptist, and Pastor Don Ramsey, Mill Creek Baptist, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Americus. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Leftus Harrison, (Sang-Go), 80, died Dec. 8, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Ormond Beach, following a brief illness.

Joseph Rogero
Joseph W. Rogero, 89, died Dec. 7, 1997, at Mariner Health Care Facility. He was a lifelong resident of St. Augustine, and he was retired from the Florida East Coast Railway.
Survivors include three daughters, Miriam Rauscher, St. Augustine, June R. Whaley, Joyce McNamara, both of New Smyrna Beach; and one son, Roland Rogero, St. Augustine.

Jack Sutton Sr.
Noah Jack Sutton, 69, St. Augustine, died Dec. 8, 1997, at Flagler Hospital West. He was born in Hahira, Ga., and he had resided here since 1950. He was a retired heavy equipment operator, and he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He attended Trinity Chapel Ministries.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Craig Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Donovan Tinsley, pastor of Trinity Chapel Ministries, officiating.

Leftus Harrison
Leftus Harrison (Sing-go), 80, Ormond Beach, died Dec. 8, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Ormond. He was educated in the Leon County schools, and he served in the U.S. Armed Forces. He worked as a custodian in the St. Johns County School System for many years, and as a custodian in Volusia County Schools upon his retirement from St. Johns County.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jeremiah Steward, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Federal Point. Byron Kolling
Byron Melvin Kolling, 66, St. Augustine, beloved husband, father, grandfather and good friend to all, passed away in his sleep Dec. 9, 1997. He was born in Elmhurst, Ill., and he had resided in St. Augustine for the past five years. He owned and operated By Now Products, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean conflict.
He was a lifetime member of the National Solid Waste Association, and he also developed many products used in the solid waste industry today. He was a member of the St. Augustine Shores United Methodist Church.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the St. Augustine Shores United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Matthew G. Swartsel, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Augustine Memorial Park.

Charles M. Higgins Jr., 76, St. Augustine, died Dec. 10, 1997, at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Jacksonville. He was born in Baltimore, Md., and he had resided here for the past 6« years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in both World War II and Korea. He was in manufacturing management.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Higgins, St. Augustine; two daughters, Sue Rutt, Lynn Rhome, both of North Olmsted, Ohio; one son, Charles (Chuck) Higgins III, St. Augustine; two brothers, William Higgins, Richmond, Va., Jack Higgins, Edgewood, Md.; and six grandchildren.
