Mary J. Schlegel Walter, 84, St. Augustine Beach, died April 14, 1997, in St. Vincent's Medical Center, Jacksonville. She was born in Nazareth, Pa., and she was a graduate of the School of Nursing of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She had a long career in nursing from coast to coast, having served in newborn and pediatrics. She moved from Caldwell, N.J., to San Diego, Calif., to Columbus, N.C., to St. Augustine Beach.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N.C., with the Rev. James M. McCain officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus. Friends may call at the funeral home chapel from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Mrs. Walter was the wife of the late Alan C. Walter, and the mother of the late Alice H. Walter. Her husband died in 1993, and her daughter died in 1991.
Survivors include one son, Alan C. Walter Jr., Roseland, N.J.; two daughters, Patricia Marcozzi, Narberth, Pa., Anne Allen, Duluth, Ga.; two sisters, Katherine Hughes, Lancaster, Pa., Martha Marx, McLean, Va.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
James Williams, Arnieta Crews
Graveside memorial services for James H. ``Jimmy'' Williams, 81, and his daughter, Arnieta Lorene Crews, 46, both of Linville Falls, N.C., and formerly of Hastings, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Palatka Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Charles Johnson and the Rev. Armando Silverio officiating.
Mr. Williams, former manager of Farmers Supply Company, Hastings, from 1955-74, died Oct. 20, 1996, in Crossnore, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Williams, Linville Falls; a daughter, Deborah Cunningham, Ormond Beach; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Crews, who died July 19, 1994, in Crossnore, was a receptionist at Appalachian Eye Associates.
She is survived by her mother, Christine Williams, Linville Falls; a son, Dexter Keene Jr., Linville Falls; one daughter, Tina Hills, Palm Coast; a sister, Deborah Cunningham, Ormond Beach; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Tobe Elrod
Tobe Hert Elrod, 68, St. Augustine, died April 17, 1997, at his home. He was born in Phoenix, Ariz., but grew up in Bedford, Ind., where he had lived until joining the Navy in 1947. He was in the Navy from 1947-70, and he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. In 1975, he moved to Green Cove Springs and worked with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office as a corrections officer until his retirement. He had resided in St. Augustine since 1993. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 829 and American Legion Post No. 37.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Craig Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Harbin Jr. officiating. Flowers are gratefully accepted, or those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to a favorite charity.

Barbara L. Moore, 71, Fort Knox, Ky., died April 12, 1997, in Fort Knox. She was born in Pocatello, Idaho, and she was a former St. Augustine resident, having worked for Handi-Way here for 17 years at the former store on State Road 16. She also worked for Wal-Mart of St. Augustine for 10 years.
Private funeral services were held.
Survivors include four daughters, Luanne Reed, Fort Knox, Ky., Sharee Canillo, Melrose, Penny McCormick, Rio Vista, Calif., Donna Mesner, Kansas City; a son, Steven Weishaar, La Grange, Ore.; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Carrie Stallsworth
Funeral services for Carrie B. Stallsworth, 56, Walker Road, who died April 12, 1997, at Flagler Hospital West, will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Stephens United Methodist Church, Hastings, with the Rev. James Tuttle
James Stuart Tuttle, 88, St. Augustine, died April 18, 1997, at his home. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, and he was a resident of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and St. Augustine from 1965, until moving permanently to St. Augustine in 1970. He was a retired self-employed investor.

James Severy
James A. Severy was born in Detroit, Mich., to Glenn and Marguerite Galster Severy on Christmas Day. At Albion College in Michigan, he studied economics, enjoyed drawing and art, captained the golf team and became a member of Sigma Chi. Upon graduation with a B.A. in business administration in 1939, Jim joined the Detroit Edison Company starting in the sales division. He married Ellen Burch on Aug. 17, 1940. When he died, Jim was 81.
Jim entered USNR in 1943 and earned a diploma from Harvard Business School. He served in the supply corps in the Pacific in the Admiralty Islands and was discharged as lieutenant in 1946. Furthering his education, Jim received diplomas from Wayne State University and the University of Michigan. While working full time at Detroit Edison, he taught evening classes at Wayne State from 1955-60.
At Detroit Edison, Jim progressed through the ranks and a variety of managerial positions. He initiated and implemented a job evaluation system for office and technical jobs, work simplification training and programs; managerial standards of performing in an operating department; an administrative division for operating departments providing on-site services in employee and union relations and management information services; seminars for all levels of management on management methods, conference leadership, problem solving and administrative practices, cost reduction efforts.
Jim was a member of the Engineering Society of Detroit and the Society for Advancement of Management. He retired as the production department director, administrative division, in Jan. 1975. Moving from Birmingham, Mich., to Boulder, Col., Jim became involved in various volunteer activities. He was president of SCORE, worked for the police department and served on the Boulder Community Development Committee.
When health problems curtailed worldwide travel, Jim and Ellen moved to St. Augustine. Their final freighter trip in 1990 was to Australia where Jim had been on courier duty on VJ Day. They continued to summer in Boulder until Jim required nursing care.
Jim belonged to Kiwanis clubs in both cities. He was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, Military Order of the World Wars, the Officers Club, Elks and other church and community committees and organizations. His hobbies included snow skiing, exploring the beaches and oceans of the world, being an avid sports fan and home repair projects - especially carpentry.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ellen Burch Severy; his son, Larry and his wife, Linda Severy, Gainesville; Jim's daughter, Janelle and her husband, Rick Hink, Boulder; Jim's granddaughters, Beth Severy, Berkeley, Calif., Lisa Severy, Gainesville, Amber Hink, Boulder; and his grandson, Eric Hink, Seattle, Wash. Jim's sister is Violet Thomas, Traverse City, Mich.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Memorial Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations, in Jim's memory, be made to The Lupus Foundation of America, 1300 Piccard Drive, Suite 200, Rockville, Md. 20850-4303, to support ongoing research activities.
Entombment will be later in Green Mountain Cemetery.
Lorraine Zeigler
Lorraine Marie Zeigler, 74, loving wife and loved forever by her husband, John Wesley Zeigler, passed away April 16, 1997, at her home in St. Augustine Beach. She was born on the sixth day of August, 1922, in Chicago, Ill., and had resided here for the past 11 years. She was actively involved in the community and gave untiringly to volunteer services. She was a member of the Eland Club of Elks Lodge No. 829 and served as sergeant at arms for three years. She received the prestigious award of Eland of the Year in 1993 and was an active fund-raiser for the Elks Children's Hospital. She was a member of the Women's Bowling Association and belonged to the Morning Coffee League, Senior Citizens League and participated in state competition.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Wesley Zeigler, St. Augustine; three sons, Wayne Wesley, St. Augustine Beach, Douglas Lee, Round Lake, Ill., Scott Dale, St. Augustine, who loved her very much. She was the grandmother of eight grandchildren and the great-grandmother of seven. She will be missed by all.

Shirley Ann Lagree, 52, 740 Pearl St., died April 15, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East. She was a lifelong resident of St. Augustine.
Survivors include sons, Frederick McKniley Jr., St. Augustine, Allen Brown, Jacksonville; a daughter, Naomi Washington, St. Augustine; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and other relatives.

Margaret Kilgore
Margaret E. Kilgore, 84, Palatka, died April 18, 1997, at her residence. A native of Chamblee, Ga., she had resided in Palatka the past 58 years, coming from Lake City. She had been employed by Florida Furniture Industries and the former Strong's Jewelry, both in Palatka. A member of the First Presbyterian Church, Palatka, she had sung in the choir. She was a member of the Woodmen of the World, Camp No. 7, Palatka, and a life member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Bert Hodge Post No. 45, Palatka.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Masters Funeral Home in Palatka, with the Rev. Steven Heinzel-Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the Palatka Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Gale Austin Blemaster, 75, St. Augustine, died April 21, 1997, at his home. He was born in St. Johns, Mich. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Corps. He was a heavy equipment operator, having owned his own company.

Patrick Ridge
Patrick J. Ridge, 72, St. Augustine, died April 22, 1997, at his home. He was born in the Panama Canal Zone, and he had resided here since 1982. He was retired from the U.S. Government, serving, most recently, as senior Panama Canal pilot. He was also a veteran of World War II, serving in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of Cathedral Parish.
