Clyde Phillips Jr., 67, St. Augustine, died Jan. 17, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. He was born in Amonate, Va., and he had resided here for the past 20 years. He was a retired truck driver, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean conflict.
Private funeral services are planned.
Survivors include his wife, Sadie Phillips, St. Augustine; two daughters, Brenda Sue Howington, Martha Bedell, both of St. Augustine; one son, Johnny Phillips, Cedar Bluff, Va.; one brother, Carl Phillips, Bluefield, Va.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Walter Dunn
Walter F. Dunn, 81, a winter resident of Deerfield Beach, died Jan. 16, 1998, in Boca Raton Community Hospital. He was born in Waterbury, Conn., and he had resided in New Jersey most of his life. Prior to his retirement, he owned and served as CEO of Kemp Industries, West Milford, N.J. He was a member of the Knights of Malta.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Louise Sullivan Dunn; a son, David Dunn Sr.; two daughters, Irene Monahan, St. Augustine, and Judy Dunn; five grandchildren, Patricia Dunn, Janet Dobbs, David Dunn Jr., Daniel Monahan, Donald Monahan; two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Charles Crowley
Charles S. Crowley, 64, St. Augustine, died Jan. 18, 1998, at his home. He was born in Big Spring, Texas, and he had resided here for the past six years. He was an X-ray technician, and he had served in the U.S. Air Force. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Craig Funeral Home chapel. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

James Shipman
James A. Shipman, 74, Brooksville, died Jan. 15, 1998, at Vencor Transitional Hospital. A native of Palma Sola, he moved to Brooksville from Tampa in 1986. He was a financial manager, and he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Masons.
Survivors include three sons, Charles A., Lakeland; Jim and Glen, St. Augustine; a brother, Donald, Temple Terrace; one sister, Louise Todd, Lakeland; and four grandchildren.
National Cremation Society, Tampa, is in charge.
Evelyn Tomlinson
Evelyn K. Tomlinson, 78, Hastings, died Jan. 18, 1998, at North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville, following a short illness. She was a native of St. Augustine and a lifelong resident of St. Johns and Putnam counties. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she was active in the women's missionary circle.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael Baggett and the Rev. Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Palatka. Friends may call at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home, Palatka, from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Following the graveside services, the family will receive friends at the home of Cindy and Jeff Roberts, Federal Point Road.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Tomlinson, and a grandson, Timothy Tomlinson.

S. Beuscher-Williams
Susanna Alexandria Beuscher-Williams, 37, died Jan. 15, 1998, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born in Hanover, Germany, and she was an instructor of dance at the Foundation Academy, Jacksonville Beach. She trained in Europe under Ernestine Stoudile and Jacque Ambroise, and she received her B.A. degree from Jacksonville University.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Neptune Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tom Bary and Father Michael Houle officiating. Burial was in San Lorenzo Cemetery, St. Augustine.

Ella Mae Pacetti, 69, St. Augustine, died Jan. 17, 1998, in Flagler Hospital East. She was born in Taylor County, but had resided in St. Augustine most of her life. She was of the Baptist faith.
Graveside services were held Monday in the Cross City Cemetery, with the Rev. Bobby Hires officiating.
Mrs. Pacetti was the wife of the late Gordan A. Pacetti.
Survivors include one son, Clayton F. Hires Jr., St. Augustine; a daughter, Mary Ann Glisson McQuaig, St. Augustine; one brother, Talmage ``Buddy'' Lee, Jacksonville; sisters, Althea Wilson, Callahan, Hazel Giddens, Yulee; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Lala Shell
Lala Shell, 86, St. Augustine, died Jan. 20, 1998, at her home. She was born in Carter County, Tenn., and she retired after 21 years as postmaster in Elk Park, N.C. She also served as the tax collector in Avery County, N.C., and she was a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held at a later date in Newland, N.C., with Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in charge. Burial will be in Perry Cemetery, Roan Mountain, Tenn.
Survivors include a daughter, Bettie A. Shell, St. Augustine; four sisters, Dora Boone, Johnson City, Tenn., Bea Blevins, Lily Mae (Pill) Burrow, both of Elizabeth, Tenn., Thelma McKinney, Roan Mountain; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Frank L. Lanzisera, 78, St. Augustine, died Jan. 21, 1998, at the Grafton House. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and he had resided here since 1989. He was a disabled veteran, having served in World War II in the U.S. Navy, and he was of the Catholic faith.
Private services are planned. Burial will be at a later date in Long Island, N.Y.
Survivors include one son, Mauro Lanzisera, St. Augustine; a sister, Dora Moore, Long Island; one brother, Joseph Lanzisera, Brooklyn; and two grandchildren.

Joseph Martin Mitchell, 72, St. Augustine Beach, died Jan. 13, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East, following a brief illness.

Gwendolyn Powell
Gwendolyn Anita "Neat" Powell, 47, Trenton, N.J., died Jan. 16, 1998, in Capitol Health Systems at Mercer, Trenton. She was born in St. Augustine but she had resided in Trenton most of her life. She was a graduate of Hightstown High School and was formerly employed by the State of New Jersey, Division of Motor Vehicles, and Trenton City Welfare.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Campbell Funeral Home, 1225 Calhoun St., Trenton, with Brother Robert Mann Sr., Capitol Center Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, officiating. Burial will be in Ewing Cemetery, Ewing Township, N.J.
Ms. Powell was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mattie Powell.

Charlie Hawkins Jr., 63, 125 DeHaven St., died Jan. 19, 1998, in Flagler Hospital East. He was born in Madison, and he had resided here for the past 15 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he was a member of St. Paul AME Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul AME Church, with the Rev. F.D. Richardson Jr., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. Friends may call at Chase and Son Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. today, and at the church from noon Saturday.

Ella Christina Wilson, 99, 12 Louise St., died Jan. 21, 1998, at the St. Johns Health Care Center. She was a lifelong resident of St. Johns County, and she owned and operated Wilson's Grocery Store and Wilson's Sewing Center.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Kerry Hinkley, pastor of Memorial Lutheran Church, officiating. Friends may call at Croyle Funeral Home today from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by one son, Col. Dennis Wilson, and a daughter, Lucy Leth.

Lucy Timmons Browning, St. Augustine, died Jan. 21, 1998, at the Ponce de Leon Care Center. She was born in Dalton, Ga., and she had resided here since 1924. She was a retired secretary, having worked for the Florida East Coast Railway, and she was a member of the Catholic Daughters and of Cathedral Parish.

Tommy Gilliam, 59, died Jan. 16, 1998 at 6230 Armstrong Road, Elkton, following a brief illness. He was born in North Carolina, and he later moved to Florida. He worked as a farm laborer.
