Marian Tenney Stevens, 82, Melbourne, died Feb. 21, 1998, at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne. She was born in Federal Point, and she was a former St. Augustine resident.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. S. Dwight McQueen, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pellicer Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Stevens; one daughter, Eilene Israel, Jacksonville; a son, Michael Stevens, Merritt Island; two brothers, Donald Tenney, Ashtabula, Ohio, Robert Tenney, Mineola, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Robert Somolik
Robert C. Somolik, 86, Jacksonville, died Feb. 21, 1998, at the Earl B. Hadlow Center, Jacksonville. He was born in Chicago, Ill., and he had resided in Jacksonville for the past two years.

Walter Byrd
Walter H. Byrd, 72, St. Augustine, died Feb. 22, 1998, at St. Augustine Health Care and Rehabilitation. He was born in Sanford, and he was a retired carpenter and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served during World War II. He was of the Baptist faith.
Private services were held.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Diane Davis, Valley Forge, Ga.; two sons, Clayton Byrd, Occidental, Calif., Jesse Byrd, Miami; and two sisters, Louise A. Bare, St. Augustine, Jeanette Osborne, Winter Park.

Thomas Douglas
Thomas Allen Douglas, 70, St. Augustine and Miami, died Feb. 23, 1998, in Jacksonville. He was born in Houston, Pa., and he had resided in St. Augustine and Miami since 1960. He was president and owner of Douglas Freight Salvage Company, Miami, and he was a member of the Chartiers Lodge No. 297, F&AM, Cannonsburg, Pa., and a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies. He also held memberships in several Shrine clubs, including the St. Augustine Shrine Club and was past potentate of the Mahi Temple in Miami. He was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, the St. Augustine Elks Lodge No. 829, and he was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Memorial Masonic services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday by Ashlar Lodge No. 98, F&AM, at the chapel of Craig Funeral Home.

Italia Fanin, 99, St. Augustine, died Feb. 24, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. She was born in Padua, Italy, and she had resided here since 1987. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Mooney officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park Mausoleum. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. today at Craig Funeral Home chapel. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Hazel Clara Graves, 80, St. Augustine, died Feb. 23, 1998, at her home. She was born in Mabton, Wash., and she had resided here since 1995. She was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company of America, and she was of the Lutheran faith.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dr. Kerry Hinkley, pastor, officiating.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Pat Graves, Las Cruces, N.M.; two sons, Timothy Gale Palmer, St. Augustine, Thomas Dale Palmer, Kirkland, Wash.; two stepsons, John Graves, St. Petersburg, Paul Graves, Montana; two sisters, Jean Hergishimer, Cedonia, Wash., Ruth White, Springfield, Ore.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A number of step-grandchildren and step- great-grandchildren also survive.

William Arthur Grigat, 80, St. Augustine, died Feb. 24, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. He was born in Jersey City, N.J., and he had resided here for the past 18 years. He was retired from Western Electric, where he worked as a chemical engineer. He was a member of the AT&T Pioneers, past treasurer of the St. Augustine Shores Civic Association, past president of the Electroplaters Society, Newark, N.J., and past president of the Grand Jurors of Paterson, N.J. He was of the Lutheran faith.

Annie Sue McDonald, 89, St. Augustine, died Feb. 25, 1998, at the Samantha Wilson Home for Senior Citizens. She was born in Local, Ala., and she had resided here for the past 60 years. She was the former owner, with her late husband, Dr. John L. McDonald, of McDonald's Drug Store on King Street. She attended Palmer College and Alabama State Teachers College, and she was a member of the Altrusa Club, the Maria Jefferson Chapter, DAR; the Las Adelfas Garden Circle, and she was a flower show judge. She was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Presbyterian Church, with Dr. John Hunter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Elmer Proctor
Elmer Quentin Proctor, 78, died Feb. 19, 1998, in Farmington Hills, Mich. He was born in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School in 1937. He entered the field of electronics and received pioneer training in radar, advancing to chief aviation radioman in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After working in radio stations in Rocky Mount and Sanford, N.C., he moved to the Detroit, Mich. area, where he worked until his retirement in 1987.
Funeral services were held Feb. 23 at Covenant Baptist Church, Farmington Hills, where he had served as a teacher of Builders Sunday School class. Burial followed in North Farmington Cemetery.
Mr. Proctor was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Jeanne (Mettier) Proctor, and his parents, Russell and Ethel Proctor of Hastings.
Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Aranowski, Nancy, Cathy DeLanoy; a son, Russ; one brother, Charles Proctor, a sister, Mary Ethel Cotton, Hastings; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Curtis Lee Spearmon, 16, Bunnell, died Feb. 24, 1998, at Wolfson's Children's Hospital, Jacksonville. He was born in Daytona Beach, and he was a student at Flagler Palm Coast High School. He was a member of St. James Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. James Baptist Church, Bunnell, with the Rev. Willie Hymon officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, and from noon Saturday until the hour of services.
Survivors include his mother, Karen D. Spearmon, Bunnell; his father, Curtis Coger, Melbourne; two brothers, Kelvin Spearmon, Matthew Wright Jr., both of Bunnell; a sister, Alice Wright, Bunnell; his paternal grandmother, Kasell Coger, Melbourne; and other relatives including a number in St. Augustine.

Renee Lynn Marks Beskind, 63, St. Augustine, died Feb. 25, 1998, at Flagler Hospital West. She was born in Gainesville, and she moved to St. Augustine from Arlington, Va., six years ago. She was a member of Temple Bet Yam and president of the Temple Bet Yam Sisterhood.
A service will be held for her at 7:30 p.m. March 6 at Temple Bet Yam, 2487 State Road 3 at Florida Avenue.

Ruth Helen Putnam, 92, Jacksonville, N.C., died Feb. 23, 1998, at Britthaven of Jacksonville. She was a former St. Augustine resident and organizer and first president of the St. Johns County Mental Health Association. She received a master's degree in education at Wayne State University, and she had a two-year fellowship at Merrill Palmer Institution of Human Development and Family Life and was a doctoral candidate at Florida State University. She served as dean of women at Shimer College.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Johnson-Gaskins Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Mrs. Putnam was preceded in death by her husband, William Putnam.
Survivors include one son, Roger Putnam, San Antonio, Texas; and three grandchildren.
