Martin P. Ryan, 72, St. Augustine, died March 8, 1998, at Flagler Hospital West. He was born in Jackson Heights, L.I., N.Y., and he moved to St. Augustine in 1981 from Bellerose, L.I., N.Y. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II, and he was an accountant for KLM Airlines. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, and he also held membership in the American Legion, VFW, and was a volunteer at Lightner Museum.
Memorial services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with the Rev. William C. Mooney officiating. Burial will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at Croyle Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Constance Simpson
Constance J. Simpson, 91, St. Augustine, died March 9, 1998, at her home. She was born in Hollandale, Wis., and she had resided here since October. She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star, Cherry Valley, Ill., and she was of the Lutheran faith.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Hartnett, Josephine Simpson, Ann Simpson, all of St. Augustine; one sister, Elinor Spring, Madison, Wis.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Margaret Heggs Singleton, 48, 172 Twine St., died March 9, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East, following a long illness. Arrangements will be announced by Chase and Son Funeral Home.
Michael Smith
Michael Clark Smith, 44, San Mateo, died March 8, 1998, at his home, following a long illness. He was born in Marianna, and he was a lifelong resident of Palatka and San Mateo. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, Palatka, and he had worked for the past 15 years as a welder with Middleton Harvesters Inc., Elkton.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. James United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Larry Shields officiating. Cremation will follow.

Albert William Taylor, 73, St. Augustine, died March 8, 1998, at his home. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and he was retired, after 30 years, as an electrician with Florida Power and Light Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II. He was a member of the St. Augustine Shrine Club and Ashlar Lodge No. 98, F&AM.
Memorial and Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Craig Funeral Home chapel.

Loretha Miller Givins, 56, St. Petersburg, died March 6, 1998, at Jacaranda Manor. She was born in Madison, and she moved to St. Petersburg from St. Augustine in 1960. She was a manager for Prudential Insurance Company, she was a Mary Kay consultant, and she was a member of the First Baptist Institutional Church.
Survivors include two sons, Anthony and Ernest Givins, a daughter, Lynette G. Brown, all of St. Petersburg; three brothers, Moses, Cornelius Sr. and Eddie Miller Jr., all of Orlando; nine sisters, Nielza M. Pittman, Fort Lauderdale, Annie Ruth Flannory, St. Augustine, Althea Smith, Atlanta, Alean Ford, Coral Springs, Izola Barbour, North Carolina, Bertha Lee Keys, Essie Mae Johnson, both of Madison, Marie Ware, Tallahassee, Kathrine Trumpler, Miami; and two grandchildren.

James Patrick Nelson, 51, St. Augustine, died March 9, 1998, at University Medical Center, Jacksonville. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and he had resided here since 1970. He was a self-employed architectural designer, and he was a member of American Legion Post No. 37. He was of the Catholic faith.
Funeral services and burial will be held in Corfu, N.Y., with the C.B. Beach and Sons Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Nelson, one son, James Shawn Nelson, both of St. Augustine; two sisters, Mary Elna Sprague, Kathy Snowberger, both of Amherst, N.Y.; and two brothers, Ricky and Vernon Nelson, both of Corfu.

Clayton M. Roberts, 78, St. Augustine, died March 10, 1998, at his home. He was born in Bliss, N.Y., and he had resided here since 1983. He was a retired union carpenter, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served during World War II.

Javell Johnson, 8, Hastings, died March 6, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East, following a brief illness. He attended TLC, St. Augustine, and Webster Elementary School, and he was a member of St. Johns Baptist Church, East Hastings.

Dr. Daniel Kelly
Dr. Daniel J. Kelly, vice president of student services for Jacksonville University, died March 10, 1998. He joined the JU staff in 1995 as dean of students, and was promoted to his current post last fall.
Private funeral services are planned. A memorial service for the university community is planned next week.
