Robert A. Mercer Jr., 40, 1555 A1A S., died March 31, 1998, at his home. He was born in Baltimore, Md., and he came to St. Augustine in 1992. He was employed by VAW.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Memorial Park, with the Rev. Curtis Norton, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.

Survivors include his parents, Robert and Ruth Mercer, St. Augustine; two brothers, Steven K. and Joseph "Guy" Mercer, both of Houston, Texas; and his maternal grandmother, Virginia Adcock, Jacksonville.

Florence May Richbourg, 80, St. Augustine, died April 1, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. She was born in Honeybrook, Pa., and she had resided here since 1920.

Dorothy Baya
Dorothy K. Baya, 103, St. Augustine, died April 5, 1998, at Regents Park, Jacksonville. She was born in Yonkers, N.Y., and she had resided here since 1924. She was a retired Registered Nurse. She owned and operated the Florida Palm Company. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Parish, and she was a member of St. Augustine Chapter 12, OES.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Craig Funeral Home, with the Rev. Deena Galantowicz, associate pastor of Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating. Eastern Star services will follow.
Mrs. Baya was the wife of the late Benjamin Baya, and the mother of the late Evelyn Baya Hood.
Survivors include one grandson, George Hood III, Jacksonville; and one great-grandchild.
Diana Bryson
Diana Halyard Bryson, 36 S. Woodlawn, died April 3, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. Arrangements will be announced by Coleman's Mortuary.

William Sage II
William Henry Sage II, 88, died April 4, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. He was born in Hilton, N.Y., and he moved to St. Augustine in 1977 from Rochester, N.Y. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II, and he was a truck driver. He was a member of VFW Post 2391.
Survivors include one son, William H. Sage III, St. Augustine; a stepdaughter, Patricia W. Thorn, Palm Beach Gardens; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held in New York. Croyle Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
John P. Bennett
John Paul Bennett, 46, St. Augustine, died April 8, 1998, at his home. He was a lifelong resident of St. Augustine, and he was a semi-truck driver.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Craig Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Gary Cheek officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include one daughter, Darlene Joy Mangler, Iowa; three sons, Paul John Bennett, Chicago, Ill., Randy and Brian Bennett, both of Elgin, Ill.; his mother, Gladys Selman, a sister, Robin Roos, both of St. Augustine; and four grandchildren.
Else Beyer
Else S. Beyer, 78, St. Augustine, died April 8, 1998, at Orange Park Medical Center. She was born in Germany, and she had resided here since 1995. She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ and of the Order of Eastern Star, both in New York.
Survivors include her husband, Walter W. Beyer, St. Augustine; two sons, Walter R. Beyer, St. Augustine, William K. Beyer, Moundsville, Ala.; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Willie Mae Marshall
Willie Mae Marshall, 80, 712 W. King St., died April 5, 1998, at her home. She was born in Aiken, S.C., and she had resided here for the past two years, moving to St. Augustine from Brooklyn, N.Y., where she'd resided for 60 years. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church, Brooklyn, and she attended Dawson Chapel CME Church in St. Augustine. She served on the usher board and various boards within the church. She was also a member of Elks Lodge in Brooklyn.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dawson Chapel CME Church, with the Rev. C.C. Bell, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Harold H. Rice
Harold Housten Rice, 73, Muncie, Ind., and St. Augustine, died Dec. 22, 1997, at Bloomington Hospital. He was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Morganette, W.Va., the son of George and Bertha (Hale) Rice, and he was an Army veteran, having served in World War II in the Pacific Theater. He attended Ball State University.
A former Major League baseball player, he had played with the St. Louis Cardinals, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Chicago Cubs. He was a member of the Hall of Fame in Muncie.
Survivors include his wife, Junia L. (Shreve) Rice; a daughter, Cindy Lou Rice-Colotti, St. Augustine; three sons, Edwin G. Rice, Ronald L. Rice, both of St. Augustine, Timothy W. Rice, Bloomington, Ind.; a brother, Eddy Rice, Richmond, Va.; three sisters, Juanita Lusk, Sophia, W.Va., Betty Jayne Patton, Dayton, Ohio, Jessie Snyder, Hillsville, Va.; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Thelma Adams
Thelma Floss Adams, 83, longtime St. Augustine resident, passed away Monday, April 6, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. She was born April 3, 1915, in Waynesboro, Pa., to Herman and Maud (Kahl) McDowell. She graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1933. Most of her working life was spent as an LPN, a profession she loved. She was a lifelong student of God's Holy Word and a member of Berachah Bible Church.
Survivors include a sister, Janet Price, Waynesboro; one daughter, Jeri, Selah, Wash.; a son, Gary, El Paso, Texas, a son, Lynn, Edison, N.J., a son, Kurt, Winter Haven; a niece, Judi Eyer, Waynesboro; a nephew, Ron Snider, Waynesboro, a nephew, Robert Snider, Los Osos, Calif. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob, June 9, 1990.

Julia Green Chipp, formerly of St. Augustine, died in Detroit, Mich. She had resided there for more than 16 years. While in St. Augustine, she attended St. Mary's Baptist Church.

Diana Halyard
Diana Bryson Halyard, 36, 516 S. Woodlawn, died April 3, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. She was born in Wilmington, Del., the daughter of the late Willie Bryson Sr. and of Lillian Bryson, and she was a 1979 graduate of Hastings High School. She also attended the St. Augustine Technical Center, studying culinary arts in 1982. She was employed as a trainer of ARC in St. Augustine, and she was a member of New Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Spuds.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Armstrong, with the Rev. Morris J. Halyard, United Missionary Baptist Church, Jacksonville, officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Cemetery. Friends may call at Coleman's Mortuary, Hastings, from 5:30-9 p.m. today.
Survivors include her husband, Morris Halyard, St. Augustine; daughters, Athelia Daniels, St. Augustine, Renarda Halyard, Georgia; a son, Morris Axen, St. Augustine; her mother, Lillian Bryson, Elkton; three sisters, Lillian M. Josephine Lloyd
Josephine Murison Lloyd, 105, St. Augustine, died April 8, 1998, at Mariner Health Care Center. She was born Nov. 30, 1892, in Chicago, Ill., and she had resided in St. Augustine since 1992. She was a retired real estate broker, and she was of the Christian Science faith.
Mrs. Lloyd was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Lloyd, and one son, George Blair Lloyd.
Survivors include a daughter, Josephine L. Jones, Orange Beach, Ala.; and one son, John M. Lloyd, Atlantic Beach.

Lynward Murray, 65, Glen Cove, N.Y., formerly of St. Augustine, has died in Glen Cove. He was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, and he had resided in Glen Cove for more than 25 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Murray, St. Augustine; and other relatives.
Albert Wagenknecht
Albert Wagenknecht, St. Augustine and Cornwall Bridge, Conn., died March 25, 1998, at the Hadlow Center for Caring, Jacksonville. He was born Nov. 20, 1912, in New York City, and he was a former Boy Scout leader, a Mason and retired as the fund administrator for the Ironworkers Union, Local 455.
He was the husband of the late Margaret Wagenknecht, and the father of the late Ronald Wagenknecht.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Wagenknecht, St. Augustine, Albert Wagenknecht, Torrington, Conn.; and three grandchildren.

He was a 32nd degree Masons, and a member of Morocco Temple and the St. Augustine Shrine Club, and he was a member of Wards Creek Baptist Church.
