Doradee Purcell, 92, St. Augustine, died May 14, 1998, at her home. She was born in Clovis, N.M., and she had resided in St. Augustine since 1917. She was a lifelong member of Ancient City Baptist Church, a charter member of the Daughters of the Confederacy and PEO Sorority, and she was a former member of Las Adelfas Garden Club.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Craig Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Northcutt, pastor of Ancient City Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Mrs. Purcell was preceded in death by her husband, John Purcell Sr., and her son, John Purcell Jr.
Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Donovan, St. Augustine; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Purcell; five grandchildren, David, Julia and Martin Zubero, Lauren and Anne Purcell; and two great-grandchildren.
Paul Ray Jr.
Paul J. Ray Jr., 66, died May 7, 1998, in Altamonte Springs. He was born in St. Augustine, and he graduated from St. Joseph Academy. He served in the Florida National Guard, and he was retired from the real estate business.
He was the son of Lorene Colee Thomas, St. Augustine, and the late Paul Ray.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Ray, Altamonte Springs; five children, Paul Ray II, New Port Richey, Michael Ray, Greenville, Ga., Courtney Ray, Washington state, Amber Adario, Hobe Sound, Velvet Ray, Spring Hill; two stepsons, Jeff Rands, Orlando, Dean Rands, Tampa; and three brothers, Maurice Ray, Altamonte Springs, Don Ray, New York City, Les Thomas, St. Augustine.
Memorial services were held in Orlando.

James Baker
James Harold Baker, 57, born in Haydenburg, Tenn., went to be with Jesus on May 12, 1998. He had resided in St. Augustine since 1961. He was owner of Baker Pest Control and All Precious and Pleasant Riches. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, having served as a deacon and adult Sunday school teacher.
He served for four years on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1958-61.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Calvary Baptist Church, 110 Masters Drive, with the Rev. Mark Conrad and Dr. Armando Silverio officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Annie Pearl Calloway-Willis, 63, Spuds, died May 10, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East, following a brief illness. She was born in Dothan, Ala., and she had resided in the Hastings/Spuds area for over 45 years. She was a member of the Christ Witness Church of the Almighty God Inc., where she served on the Mothers' Board.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Christ Witness Church of the Almighty God Inc., 913 Reid St., Palatka, with Elder Samuel L. Green, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pattersonville Cemetery, East Palatka.

Cyrus Lorenzo Gover, 83, St. Augustine, died May 13, 1998, at his home. He was born in Stanford, Ky., and was a former resident of Riverside, Calif., having moved to St. Augustine in 1997. He was the retired principal of the California School for the Deaf at Riverside.

Jose Pereira, 93, St. Augustine, died May 13, 1998, at the St. Johns Health Care. He was born in Portugal, and he came to St. Augustine eight years ago from New Bedford, Mass. He was a retired clothing business owner, and he was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Norma P. Gillis, St. Augustine; and one granddaughter, Elise S. O'Kane, New Hampshire.

Charles Rohmann Sr.
Charles Marvin Rohmann Sr., 66, St. Augustine, died May 15, 1998, at his home. He was born in St. Louis, Mo., and had lived in St. Augustine since 1995. He was a truck driver, having worked through KLLM of Jackson, Miss., for more than 18 years. He was of the Baptist faith.

Walter R. Runnion, 63, St. Augustine, died May 8, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. He was born in San Fernando, Calif., and lived in New Jersey for 14 years before moving to Florida in 1994.

Catherine Brown, 55, Lovett Street, died May 13, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. A native of Blakely, Ga., she had lived in St. Augustine since early childhood. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and sang in its choir.

M.C. Morgan, 64, St. Augustine, died May 6, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. He was born in Jacksonville, and he had resided here since 1990. He was a retired captain with Eastern Airlines, serving with the airlines for 33 years; and he also served as an aviator in the U.S. Marine Corps with the rank of captain. He was past tournament chairman and member of the Men's Golf Association of Marsh Creek Country Club, and he served on the board of directors of the St. Johns County Audubon Society. His work on wild bird photography, with his wife, Amanda, has been featured in several national publications.

Edith W. Browning, 80, Palatka, died May 16, 1998, at Putnam Community Medical Center, following a long illness. She was a lifelong resident of Palatka, and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palatka and formerly worked with Wilson Cypress Company and with Walton and Walton Law Office in Palatka.

He was a St. Augustine native and attended local schools, and he was a former member of the FAMU Marching 100 of Florida A&M University, Tallahassee. He was a member of St. Paul AME Church, serving on the choir and on the steward board.
