Bennie George Witt Sr., 70, Elkton, died June 2, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. He was born in Tazewell, Va., and he had resided in St. Augustine since 1965. He was a retired U.S. Army first sergeant, and he had served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Curtis Norton, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Witt was preceded in death by a grandson, Bucci Witt.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; five daughters, Debbie Martin, Marathon, Susan Donlon, St. Augustine, Connie Reams, Jennifer Witt, Billie Jo Witt, all of Elkton; two sons, Bennie Witt Jr., Jay Witt, both of Elkton; two brothers, Walter Witt, Tampa, Larry Witt, North Tazewell, Va.; and eight grandchildren.

Jesse James Grant III, 83, St. Augustine, died June 3, 1998, at Flagler Hospital West. He was born in Gallatin, Pa., and he had resided in St. Augustine since 1980. He was a retired computer technician serving with the Hobart Company, and he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and he was a member of F&AM Lodge No. 252, Olean, N.Y.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Curtis Norton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; a son, Jesse James Grant IV, St. Augustine; and two sisters, Dorothea Mae Compton, Ruth Young, both of Pennsylvania.
James L. Howard
James Lytle Howard, 66, Jacksonville and Crescent Beach, died June 2, 1998, in Jacksonville. He was a graduate of Landon High School and Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, and he had served as facilities real estate officer for the Duval County School Board for many years. He was a member of the Morocco Temple Arab Honor Patrol, a former member of the Exchange Club, a member of Ye Mystic Revellers, the Florida Yacht Club and the Ponte Vedra Country Club. He was a longtime member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Ortega, and the family will receive friends at their home, following the service.

Lucille Richards
Lucille Richards of 690 Cira Court, St. Augustine Shores, died late Tuesday at Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville. Born July 7, 1909, in Atlantic Mines, Mich., Lucille is survived by her loving son, George, of Miami. Her longtime spouse, George, predeceased her by 21 years.
Lucille was an elementary school teacher in Midland, Mich., for more than a quarter of a century. She obtained her B.S. degree from Central Michigan University. Her avocation was gardening and preparing desserts.
In addition to her son, Lucille is survived by her loving friend and companion, Melvin Morrow of St. Augustine Shores; three grandchildren, Robin McClay, Orlando, (spouse, Tyler); Lt. Charles Richards, U.S. Coast Guard, Washington, D.C., (spouse, Cheryl); Barton Richards, Chicago, Ill.; and daughter-in-law, Jackie, Miami.
Lucille's two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Kimberly McClay, Orlando, were her pride and joy.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, June 5, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, followed by a brunch at Lucille's house at 690 Cira Court. Friends may attend one or both events.

Ricky (Slick Rick) Blue, 40, Hastings, died May 29, 1998, at University Medical Center, Jacksonville. He was born Jan. 6, 1958, in Ocilla, Ga., to Ella Mae Blue and the late Wilbur Blue, and he was a member of the Class of 1976 at Hastings High School. He worked for Epicor Ideal Division for 11 years, and he was a member of Christ Witness Church of the Almighty God, Palatka.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Christ Witness Church of the Almighty God, Palatka, with Elder Anthony Carter, assistant pastor, officiating. Belle Jackson Brown, 84, Hastings, died June 3, 1998, in Putnam Community Hospital, Palatka. She was born in Madison, and she had resided in Hastings since 1939.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict, and he was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Dorothy Dascoli
Dorothy Shirley Dascoli (Femmel), formerly of Mastic Beach, N.Y., died June 3, 1998, in St. Augustine. She was born Dec. 1, 1922, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Her high school yearbook describes her as "a girl who is quiet, gentle and gay and wears a smile the live long day."
Friends may call Monday, June 8, at Croyle Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 9, at the Cathedral Basilica at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla., at 2 p.m.
She worked as a secretary before marrying James Dascoli in 1942. Mrs. Dascoli raised three children who now survive her: James Dascoli Jr., Barbara Dascoli and Stephen Dascoli. Other survivors include four grandchildren: Jason, Marisa, Megan Dascoli and Joshua List; and two brothers: Theodore and Arthur Femmel.
When her children were grown, she worked for 16 years at the Suffolk County Infirmary. After her beloved husband died, she taught reading through a literacy program in St. Augustine.
Besides teaching, she loved to watch boxing, work crossword puzzles and care for other people. She was, in fact, known by her family and friends as a caring, generous person.
