Emily Jane Johnson, 96, died May 9, 1997, at the Senior Citizens Home. She moved here in 1971 from Kane, Pa. She was an inspector for Apsco Manufacturing in Rockford, Ill. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Michael, of St. Augustine, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Margaret Ann Mason, 54, St. Augustine, who died Feb. 27, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Interfaith Chapel, Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, with Father Rene Robert officiating.
Mrs. Mason was born in Scranton, Pa., and she was a member of Cathedral Parish. She had resided in St. Augustine for 16 years, and was the daughter of the late Vincent Jimmy Occhipinti.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene Mason, St. Augustine; a son, Eugene Mason, and a daughter, Robyn Mason, both of St. Augustine; her mother, Margaret Ann Russin Occhipinti, Pennsylvania; three sisters, Roe Kolejeski, Dunmore, Pa., Joanne Sanders, Jessup, Pa., and Lucia Oswald, Dalton, Pa.; one brother, Vincent Occhipinti, Burke, Va., and other relatives.
Joseph Desmarais
Joseph Fidelevin Desmarais, 82, St. Augustine, died May 8, 1997, at his home. He was born in Notre Dame, Quebec, Canada, and had lived in St. Augustine since 1986. He was retired from General Electric and was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Desmarais of St. Augustine; two daughters, Theresa Martell of Burlington, Vt., Claire Hall of Milton, Vt; one son, Roland Desmarais of Beacon, N.Y.; two sisters, Helen Bunce of Vanier, Ontario, Canada, Loretta Kronick of St. Augustine; two brothers, Emile Desmarais of Winooski, Vt., Joe Desmarais of Miami; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Kathryn Thomas, 87, St. Augustine, died Friday, May 9, 1997, at Flagler Hospital. She was born in Delaware, Ohio, and came to St. Augustine 25 years ago from Washington, D.C., where she was Employee Relations Specialist for the National Park Service.
She was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, Flagler Hospital Auxiliary, a charter member of the Shores AARP and was a volunteer at the Castillo de San Marcos National Park Service Office in St. Augustine.
Service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Croyle Funeral Home.

Charles Raymond Rowley
Charles Raymond "Ray" Rowley, 71, died May 9, 1997, at his daughter's residence in St. Augustine. He'd been living in St. Augustine since 1966, following his retirement from the U.S. Navy. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Conflict. He was formerly employed by Florida Pest Control in Palatka for 10 years and he made and sold clocks and tables.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Masters Funeral Home, Palatka, with Rev. Joe Sweeney officiating. The U.S. Navy will bestow military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 p.m. until the hour of services.

Juanita Badger
Juanita Ward Badger, 78, Wesley Manor, died May 11, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East. Born in Federal Point, she had resided in Wesley Manor since 1993, moving there from Federal Point where she'd lived from 1944-93. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Federal Point, and also served on the altar guild. She had retired after 29 years as a school teacher with the Putnam County School System and was a member of the Putnam County Teachers Association. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 48, Hastings, and Chapter No. 33, Palatka, and she served three times as worthy matron of the Hastings chapter.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. James G. Smith and the Rev. Joe Noll officiating. Burial will be in Federal Point Cemetery. Friends may call at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home, Palatka, from 5 to 7 p.m. today.

Charles Richard "Dick" Donahoe, 85, died May 11, 1997, at his home, following a long illness. He was born in Bedford, Pa., and he had resided here for the past 51 years. He was one of the partners of the original St. Augustine Sightseeing Trains Inc., and he was the owner of Donahoe's Flowers. He was a member of Cathedral Parish and an active supporter of Catholic Charities.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Craig Funeral Home chapel. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Edward Franklin Pierce Sr., 85, St. Augustine, died May 12, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East. He was a lifelong resident of St. Augustine, and he was retired from Florida East Coast Railway. He was a member of Cathedral Parish.

Clement Langlois
Clement Alexander Langlois, 76, 816 Alhambra Ave., died May 12, 1997. He was born in South Portland, Maine, and he graduated from South Portland High School in 1938. In high school, he was an outstanding left-handed baseball pitcher for three years, and he also pitched in the local twilight league and in the service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II in the military police, and he was a member of the Army Occupational Forces in Japan. He served in the U.S. Post Office in the greater Washington, D.C., area for 30 years, retiring to St. Augustine in 1977. He was a member of the St. Augustine branch of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, and he worked several years as a security officer in St. Augustine. At his request, there will be no service in St. Augustine. A memorial service is planned at Holy Cross Church, South Portland, July 22, his birthday. Survivors include sisters, Ann Levesque, Rochester, N.Y., Jeanette Langlois, a sister in the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Quebec, Canada; a brother, Edward, South Portland; and 10 nieces and nephews. Richard "Dad" Lewis Jr., 43, 761 Volusia St., died May 7, 1997, at Flagler Hospital West, following a long illness. He was a former member of Bethel Baptist Missionary Church, and he was a member of the Class of 1971 at St. Augustine High School. He was last employed by the Columbia Restaurant. Survivors include his mother, Lurene Louis, St. Augustine; father, Richard Lewis Sr., Hollandale; a brother, Roselle Lewis, St. Augustine; five sisters, Gearldine L. Maylene Elizabeth Masters, 89, New Smyrna Beach, died May 13, 1997, at Ocean View Nursing Home, New Smyrna Beach. She was born in St. Augustine and moved to the New Smyrna Beach area 31 years ago. She was a cosmetician for a St. Augustine drug store, prior to her retirement, and she was known as "The Piano Lady" when she appeared on radio station WFOY in St. Augustine and played for various functions.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach. Burial will be in Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater.
