Lillian Ellsworth, 96, 172 M.L. King Ave., died July 21, 1998, at the Samantha Wilson Care Center. She was born in Augusta, Ga., and she had resided here for over 60 years. She was a member of St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church, with Father Neal Carr officiating. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Friends may call at Chase and Son Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. today. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at Chase chapel.

Opal Mae Houff, St. Augustine, died July 26, 1998, at her home. She was born in Centerville, Ohio, and she had resided here for the past five years.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Austin Kirkpatrick.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Kirkpatrick Johnston, St. Augustine, Katheryn Kirkpatrick Ritenour, Lufkin, Texas; and two sons, Chris Kirkpatrick, Panama City, Mike Kirkpatrick, Toronto, Canada.

Roy Selby Meaker, 82, St. Augustine, died July 26, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. He was born in Fitzgerald, Ga., and he had resided in St. Augustine since 1956. He was a retired dairy farmer, and he was a member of Wards Creek Baptist Church.

June Michaels
June Elizabeth Michaels, 72, St. Augustine, died July 25, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. She was born in Cranston, R.I., and she had resided in St. Augustine for the past 15 years. She was a retired bookkeeper.
Survivors include her husband, Harry; a son, Barry Michaels, Palatka; and a grandson.

Mary Udovich
Mary Gaspartich Udovich, 93, St. Augustine, died July 24, 1998, at the Ponce de Leon Care Center. She was born in Orich, Austria, and she was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine, with the Rev. Patrick Cook, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Coram, N.Y. Jacqueline Arnold
Jacqueline Simpson Arnold, 73, St. Augustine, died July 26, 1998, at Memorial Medical Center, Jacksonville, following an extended illness. She was born in DeLand, grew up in Jacksonville, and she had resided in Picolata since 1954, following her marriage to the late Paul G. Arnold. She was a member of Ancient City Baptist Church, where she had served in several Sunday school departments, and she was a former airline stewardess, having served with National Airlines. She was active in restoring older homes in the historic Lincolnville area of St. Augustine, and she was a past associate member of the Flagler Hospital Auxiliary, having earned 1,500 hours in patient services. She was an honorary member of the Colee Cove Volunteer Fire Station No. 3 and a former member of the Gaillardia Garden Club.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with Rev. Paul Carmichael, former Ancient City Baptist pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Jacksonville, at 1 p.m. Thursday. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Frieda Beckmann, 102, St. Augustine, died July 15, 1998, at her home. She moved to St. Augustine in 1990 from New York City. She was retired from the textile and meat packing industries.

Virginia Cummings
Virginia Lora Cummings, 87, Wesley Woods, died July 16, 1998, at Wesley Woods. She was born in Kansas City, Mo., and she had resided here since 1917. She was a retired school teacher, and she was the first principal at R.B. Hunt Elementary School, and she was a longtime member of the Pilot Club of St. Augustine, most recently holding the status of emeritus member. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the St. Augustine Bridge Club, and she was a member of Trinity Episcopal Parish.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Craig Funeral Home chapel.

Mary Anne Emery, 76, St. Augustine, died July 27, 1998, in Flagler Hospital East. She was born in Pensacola, and she had resided in St. Augustine since 1953. She was a member of the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine.
She was also a long-time member of the St. Augustine Chapter of the Catholic Daughters of America and a past president. She was a volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Society, at St. Francis House Soup Kitchen, at the Cathedral Parish annual bazaar, at the Cathedral-Basilica Bell Tower Gift Shop, and she was a member of the Cathedral Altar Guild. She was a eucharistic minister at the Cathedral, she was a member of the Secular Franciscan Society, and she held membership in Eland Club of Elks Lodge No. 829, Women of the Moose Chapter 0-1101, American Legion Auxiliary, Post No. 37, a member of the Flagler Hospital Auxiliary, Gray Ladies Auxiliary, U.S. Army Hospital, at then-Camp Stewart, Ga., and she was a long-time voting precinct clerk at Precinct No. 6, at the city fire department, Anastasia Island.
She also volunteered at the St. Johns County Mental Health Office and she was a Cub Scout den mother.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine, with the Rev. Tim Lindenfelser officiating. A reception in Cathedral Parish Hall, St. George Street, follows the Mass.

John Garwood II
John Hal Garwood II, 29, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, Calif., died July 21, 1998. He had lived in Kinston, Huntersville, N.C., and Charlotte, N.C., and he was a member of Huntersville United Church. He was employed by Skechers USA in Manhattan Beach, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Howard-Carter and Stroud Funeral Home, Kinston, N.C., with the Rev. Willis Pearson officiating. Burial will be in Kinston's Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Garwood was the grandson of the late Clarence Bland.

Richard Carl Hurston, 54, died July 27, 1998, at his home. He was an airline ticket agent and served as a volunteer at Flagler Hospital.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Laverne Hurston; a son, Douglas, Orange Park; one daughter, Sarah Mervith, St. Augustine; two brothers, a sister, Norma Schnoder, St. Louis, Mo.
