Paul E. Lavoie, Commodores Club Boulevard, died July 31, 1998, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Jacksonville. He was born and educated in Lawrence, Mass., and he was a former member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus of Methuen, Mass. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II with Company M, 3rd Battalion, 232nd Infantry Regiment of the 42nd Rainbow Infantry Division, and he fought in the Battle of the Bulge, German Nordwind Offensive and was one of the liberators of the infamous Dachau Concentration Camp.
He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star Medal for action Jan. 5, 1945, the Good Conduct Medal, the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater Campaign medals with 3 Bronze Battle Stars, the American Theater Campaign Medal, the WW Victory Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), several medals from the Republic of France and the Grand Cross of Homage Medal from the Military Order of the Ardennes.
Funeral Mass and burial were Aug. 4 in Lawrence, Mass.
Survivors include his wife, Lucienne A. (Pomerleau) Lavoie, St. Augustine; a daughter, Helen Marie Piessens, Knoxville, Tenn.; one son, Richard, St. Augustine; a brother, Robert E. Lavoie, Lawrence; and three grandchildren.

Lewis Henry Clipp, 64, Elkton, died Aug. 24, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. He was born in Martinsburg, W.Va., and had resided here for the past nine years. He was the former mayor of May Cohens Department Store at the Volusia Mall and was the manager of Gayfers at the Avenues Mall, Jacksonville.
He was the past president of the St. Augustine Exchange Club. He was a member of the Navy League and the Riverview Club. He was president of the Cypress Lakes Homeowners Association, and he was a past president of the Ormond Beach Civitans. He was also past president of the board of directors for the Volusia County Association for Retarded Citizens. He was a member of the Cypress Lakes Men's Golf League.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Craig Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Craig chapel. Elizabeth Stenger
Elizabeth Stenger, 85, Colts Neck, N.J., died Aug. 23, 1998, at Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Brewster, Mass. Born in Ajkarendek, Hungary, she moved to New York in 1929. She lived in Laurence Harbor, N.J., Brooklyn, N.Y., and Aberdeen, N.J., before moving to Colts Neck in 1969.
She was co-owner of the family business, Stenger Orchards, Highway 34, Aberdeen, from 1941 to 1969. She was a communicant of St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro, N.J.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Waitt Funeral Home, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, N.J. A Mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport, N.J. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, who died in 1976, and by her son, Joseph P., who died in 1997.
Survivors include her daughter, Viola T. Snow of Harwich, Mass. and St. Augustine; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one niece and several nephews.
Moses Demps Jr.
Moses Demps Jr., 80, 525 W. King St., died at his home. Born in Madison, he had resided here for the past 70 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he was a member of the Masons and American Legion Post No. 194. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Baptist Church. Burial was today in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Survivors include nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and other relatives.

Allen William Syrup, 54, Pasadena, Texas, died Aug. 2, 1998, in Pasadena. He was born in North Dakota, and he was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served eight years with the U.S. Navy.
A celebration of life burial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 824 S. Main St., Pasadena. Burial will be in Houston National Cemetery, with Pasadena American Legion Post No. 521 performing graveside military honors.

Margaret Taylor, 73, St. Augustine, died Aug. 20, 1998, at Baptist Medical Center. She was born in Limerick, Ireland, and had resided in St. Augustine for the past seven years. She had worked as a telephone operator. She was a member of the Riverview Club and the Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

Lewis Lindsey
Lewis W. Lindsey passed away August 19th at Flagler Hospital East, as a result of a broken leg. Born in Franklin, Pa., in 1902, he was the youngest of 13 children. He grew up there in America's first oil fields, helping his family of oil drillers and teamsters. Lewis worked on the railroad and then moved to McDonald, Ohio, to roll molten steel for over 40 years at US Steel near Youngstown, Ohio. He was well known there as a talented wedding and portrait photographer and was a member of the Camera Club. He enjoyed many years of retirement in Hialeah and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., with wonderful old friends until moving to St. Augustine in 1991, after his wife of 67 years, Margaret, passed away. Known and loved here for his broad smile and good nature, he was blessed with wonderful neighbors at Ponce de Leon Villas and enjoyed their friendships daily. His wish to donate any needed organs was carried out and his ashes will rest with those of his wife and only son, Robert, at the family plot. No services or flowers, pass along his smile! Lewis is survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Alfred Joseph De Crescenzo, 76, St. Augustine, died Aug. 22, 1998, at his home. He was born in New York, N.Y., and resided in St. Augustine since 1997, having moved here from Rockland County. He was a retired steamfitter, and he was veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.

Sanjena L. Carter, 16, Hastings, died from injuries sustained in a car accident in St. Augustine on Aug. 15, 1998. She was born in St. Augustine. She attended St. Augustine High School, where she had completed 10th grade. She was a member of Winterguard, the Spanish Club and the Drama Club.
She was a member of the Holy Church of Zion, Armstrong, where she served in the Youth Choir. She was the secretary of the Y.P.W.W. and she was the Primary Sunday School teacher. She was also a Ms. Holy Church of Zion contestant for three years.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Lord's Temple Church, Hastings, with Elder Jimmie Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Pattersonville Cemetery, East Palatka. Friends may call at Coleman's Mortuary chapel, Hastings, from 6-9:30 p.m. today.
