Lois Neel Smith of Marianna died Feb. 4 in Marianna.
A native of Grangeburg, Ala., and a lifelong resident of Jackson County, she retired from Marianna Convalescent Center in the food services department.
She was a member of First Assembly of God in Marianna.
Smith was preceded in death by her sons, Ben Junior Neel, Eugene Neel, Clifford Anderson and a daughter, Ethel Walters.
She is survived by two sons, Frank Neel and wife, Elizabeth, and Curtis Neel, all of Marianna; three daughters, Sible Dale and husband, J.B., Shirley Sims and husband, Bill, all of Marianna, and Dorothy Neel of Okeechobee; one sister, Flossie Harrison of Chipley; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 7 at First Assembly of God church in Marianna with Rev. Stephen Potter officiating. Burial followed at Cypress Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
Eddie Lee Smith, 76
Eddie Lee Smith of Bonifay died Feb. 7 at his residence there.
He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Smith of Bonifay; four sons, Randy Smith of Holden, La., Rich Moody of Tampa, Charles Smith of Slidell, La., and Eddie Smith Jr. of Chipley; five daughters, Cathy Moody of Lakeland, Deborah Stone of Wesley Chapel, Theresa Marshall of Eufaula, Ala., Lynn Smith of Batesville, Miss., and Diana Vickers of Bonifay; a brother, Robert Smith of Bonifay; two sisters, Genell Nelson of Naples and Clara Jones of Auburndale; 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Feb. 11 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Collins officiating.
Burial will be Feb. 12 in Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery with Sims Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
Sarah F. Williams, 67
Sarah Frances Williams of Lake Placid died Jan. 26 at her home.
She was born in Holmes County and moved to Lake Placid in 1959.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Lake Placid.
Survivors include her husband, Art Williams of Lake Placid; three sons, Artie Williams, also of Lake Placid, Rocky Williams of Sevierville, Tenn., and Jeff Williams of Bradenton; one daughter, Debbi Storicks of Lake Placid; two brothers, Buford Smith and Robert Smith, both of Bonifay; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Jan. 28 at Faith Baptist Church in Lake Placid. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Jim Beavers officiating.
Arrangements were by Chandler Funeral Home of Lake Placid.
Joseph Harmon, 53
Bro. Joseph Joe Harmon of the St. Joseph community in Chipley died May 19 at his home. He was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County.
He was pastor of The Christian Fellowship and a building construction contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Harmon; four children and their spouses, Rasheen, Cory and Latoya Harmon, all of Chipley, and Katrine Patton Moore of Panama City; mother, Annie Lee Harmon; brothers and sisters, Clifton and Everlyn Harmon, James and Montez Harmon, John A. Harmon and Brenda Harmon, all of Chipley, Thomas and Carolyn Harmon of Marianna, Isaac and Karon Harmon of Gainesville, Lindy and Arnold Sherman of St. Petersburg, Cheryl and Roy Jr. Ferrell of Tampa; a Godson, David Roulhac of Chipley; five grandchildren and many other relatives.
Funeral services were held May 22 at St. Joseph Cemetery with Revs. Earl Cook and L.L. Brooks officiating.
Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley was in charge of arrangements.
James Sheffield, 76
James Sheffield of the St. Joseph community in Chipley died May 17 at his home. He was a native of Washington County and a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses faith.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Sheffield, a daughter, Julie Sheffield, and a son, Willie James Sheffield and wife, Linda, all of Chipley; three sisters, Armetta Hogans, Elnora Nelson and husband, Boggie, all of Fort Walton Beach, and Mary Mosely and husband, Eddie, of Chipley; two brothers, Leroy Sheffield and wife, Annie, of Ft. Walton Beach, and John Glen Sheffield and wife, Minnie, of Chipley; two grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held May 22 at St. Joseph Cemetery with Bro. Linward Dickens officiating.
A memorial service followed in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
Rosie L. Edwards, 90
Funeral services for Rosie Lee Edwards of Ebro were held May 18 at the True Holiness Church in Ebro, of which she was a member. Elder Donnel Brown, pastor, officiated.
Edwards was a native and lifelong resident of Ebro. She was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Levi, and the Independent Pallbearers Organization.
Survivors include her husband, Jessie Edwards; a daughter, Katherine Potter, son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Pearlie Edwards, all of Ebro; a sister, Corine Peterson of Vernon, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Burial was in St. Luke Memorial Garden Cemetery in Vernon with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
John Jefferson, 82
John D. Jefferson of Dawson, Ga., died May 25 at his residence.
A native of Moundsville, W. Va., Jefferson had lived in Dawson since 1982, moving there from Dade City, Fla. He was retired from Federal State Inspection Services. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Ellaville Americn Legion Post #191.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Freda Jefferson of Dawson; three sons, John W. Jefferson of St. Marks, James Keith Jefferson of Bonifay, and Thomas Lee Jefferson of Russellville, Tenn.; two daughters, Sharon Elaine Braxton of Ellaville and Lucinda Laviano of Leesburg, Ga.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorialization was by cremation with Mathews Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. There was no service.
