Wanda Ard Lopez of Abbeville, Ala., died July 12 at Henry County Nursing Home there. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isiah Orie and Susie Rebecca Ard, and her husband, Julian Lopez.
Survivors include three sisters, Annett Jackson and Allie Williams, both of Bonifay, and Mozelle Lee of Monticello, numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorialization was by direct cremation with Peel Funeral Home of Bonifay in charge of arrangements.
Mack Jones, 66
Mack Jones of the Leonia community died July 13 at his home there. He was born March 10, 1940, in Bonifay to Winston Churchill Jones and Edna Ruth Sheffield Jones.
He was preceded in death by his father, W.C. “Ben” Jones.
Survivors include a daughter, Angie Brunson, and husband, Donnie, of Geneva, Ala.; his mother, Ruth Jones of Bonifay; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack Jones and wife, Flynn, of Leonia, Jerry Jones and wife, Cecilia of South Walton; a sister, Pat Polson and husband, Lomax, of Leonia; four grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were July 16 at Leonia Baptist Church with the Revs. Joel Davis, Stacey Stafford and David Davis officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery with Jerry Evans Funeral Home of DeFuniak Springs directing.
Robin Gay, 38
Robin Denese Gay of Panama City died July 13 in Chipley. She was born June 13, 1968, in Graceville to Glen and Lorene (Williams) Smith. She was a guidance counselor and had lived in Panama City since she moved there from Chipley in 1989.
She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Sand Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Alan Gay of Panama City; two sons, Cullen and Logan Gay of Panama City; and parents, Glen and Lorene Smith of Chipley.
Graveside services were held July 16 in Glenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Don Milton officiating and Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
Roy E. Sawyer, 77
Roy Eldridge “Bugs” Sawyer of Caryville died July 17 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Ala.
Survivors include two brothers, Marion K. Sawyer of Chiefland and William E. Sawyer of Westchester, Ohio; sister, Doris W. Pope of Alachua, several nieces and nephews.
Services were held July 20 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ralph Merchant officiating. Cremation followed.
Burial in Caryville Cemetery with Sims Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
Onie Duffell, 78
Onie B. Duffell of Chipley died there July 13. She was born Sept. 25, 1927, in Elba, Ala., to Perry and Lela (Napper) Flowers.
She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Duffell.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Kathy Duffell of Chipley; a daughter, Helen Richardson of Graceville; brother, Ervin (Frog) Flowers of Chipley, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held July 17 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tommy Moore officiating.
Burial followed that afternoon in Brooklyn Cemetery in Opp, Ala., with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
Dorothy M. Rea, 78
Dorothy Miller Rea of Panama City died July 16 at her home. She was affectionately known as “Mama Rea.”
She was retired from the Department of Transportation as a maintenance management systems engineer technician. She was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy L. Rea, and her parents, Henry L. and Willie Lee Miller.
Survivors include a son, James Rea and his wife, Patricia, of Birmingham, Ala.; a daughter, Donna Rea VanDusen of Macon, Ga.; “adopted” son, James Michael Hewitt of Rochester, N.Y., and one grandson.
Services were July 19 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jim Hankins officiating.
Burial was in Wausau Memorial Gardens in Wausau with Wilson Funeral Home of Panama City directing.
Memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice in memory of Dorothy Miller Rea.
Donna Sasnett, 50
Donna Mae Sasnett of Westville died Aug. 9 at her home there. She was born Feb. 14, 1956, in Wilmington, Delaware.
Survivors include her husband, John Jerold “Jerry” Sasnett of Westville; mother, Ethel Mae McClearey Helton; father, Lee Helton; three daughters, Tonya Rhodes, Amanda McLaughlin and Lorien McLaughlin; a son, Shannon Rhodes; two sisters, Tammy Seaman and Debbie Helton-Lopez; two brothers, Randy Helton and Michael Helton, and four granddaughters.
Memorialization was by cremation with Peel Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
