Lester C. Riley of Bonifay died Jan. 4 at his home there.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth (Presley) Riley of Bonifay; two sons, Alan Hayes of North Carolina and Lawrence Hayes of Cumberland County, N.C.; three daughters, Kimberly Riley of Washington, Theresa Ann Riley of Chicago, Ill., and Melinda Wallace of Southern Pines, N.C.; two brothers, Vester Riley of McComb, Miss,, and Chester Riley of Dunn, N.C.; four sisters, Rosie Martins of Zephyrhills, Lola Taylor of Mears, Va., Ette Faircloth of Raeford, N.C., Esther Lewis of Bradenton; and mother, Annie Mae (Gainey) Riley.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Jan. 19 in the chapel at Sims Funeral Home in Bonifay.
Alice Joyner, 90
Alice Joyner of Panama City died Dec. 30 at Community Health and Rehab there. She was formerly of Bonifay.
Survivors include a daughter, Sally (Joyner) Millirons of Chipley; two sisters, Vernell Pitts of Marianna and Alma Carnley of Caryville, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 3 in the funeral home chapel with the Revs. Floyd Wright and Herman Sellers officiating. Burial was in Sellers Cemetery with Sims Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
Clarence Spurlock, 66
Clarence Roy “Jerry” Spurlock of Chipley died Jan. 2 at his residence there.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Lois (Byers) Spurlock of Chipley; a son, Kevin Spurlock of Billings, Montana; daughters, Stephanie Holland of Butte, Montana; three brothers, Martin Spurlock of Texas, Clayton Spurlock of Phillipsburg, Montana, and Charles Spurlock of Stevensville, Montana. and three grandchildren.
Funeral was held Jan. 6 at First Assembly of God Church in Chipley with the Rev. Dallas Pettis officiating.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Stevensville, Montana, with Sims Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
Geraldine Moore, 81
Geraldine S. Moore of Vernon died Dec. 26 in Chipley. She was born in Vernon Nov. 18, 1925, to Wilburn Wallace and Minnie (Clemmons) Russ.
Moore had lived in Vernon for the past 22 years, moving there from Eagle Lake. She was a member of the Eagle Lake Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Tobe Russ.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Moore of Vernon; a son, Larry Moore of Vernon; two daughters, Mary Gipson of Haines City and Nancy Robinson of Winter Haven, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held Dec. 28 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Allan English officiating.
Burial followed in Hard Labor Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
Elton Ellis, 59
Elton James Ellis of Wausau died Jan. 3 in Dothan, Ala. He was born April 12, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., to the late Elton Jennings and Emma (Dunkle) Ellis. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Wausau Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Eric Alan Ellis of St. Petersburg and “E.J.” Elton Jennings Ellis of Tampa; one daughter, Michelle Marie Ellis of Lutz; two brothers, Lyle Ellis and Leroy Ellis, both of Michigan; a sister, Cora Thompson of Tennessee.
Services were held Jan. 6 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dalton Ott officiating.
Cremation followed the service with Brown Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Evelyn Green, 64
Evelyn (Penny) Gladys Green of Chipley died Dec. 26 at her home. She was born in Puerto Rico Oct. 3, 1942, to Jacinto Gonzalez and Rose Cintron Vasquez. She was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her mother, Rose Vasquez; two sons, Theron Lenard Green of Montgomery, Ala., and Ron Green of Picayune, Miss.; three daughters, Janet Clements of Vernon, Vickie Sheffield and Michaelle Watkins, both of Chipley; five brothers and nine sisters, 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Dec. 29 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Hagan officiating. Cremation followed the service under the direction of Brown Funeral Home of Chipley.
Leon Anderson, 78
Leon Sanders Anderson of Bonifay died Jan. 2 at Doctors Memorial Hospital there. He was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Bonifay.
Anderson was preceded in death by his parents, Augustus Douglas and Annie Bell Anderson, and his wife, Idell Anderson.
Survivors include a son, Royce Anderson; two daughters, Linda Day and husband, Joe, and Sandy Anderson, all of Bonifay; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held Jan. 4 at St. John Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. John Chance officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Peel Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
