John J. Bush, 73
John Jackson “Jack” Bush of Dothan, Ala., died Nov. 29 in Dothan. He was a son of the late John M. and Mittie Bush.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Bush.
Bush was a member of Heritage Baptist Church of Dothan. He was a retired professor of Brewton/Parker Baptist College.
Survivors include his wife, Marthann Bush of Dothan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Marty and Candace Bush of Atlanta, Ga., and Hank and Trish Bush of Miami Beach; a daughter, Boni Flynt of Macon, Ga.; stepson, Tommy Bowen of Kansas City, Kans.; stepdaughter, Kim McHale of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Murl and Shouppe Howell of Bonifay and Betty Jo and Glynn Fields of Atlanta; three grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 1 at First Baptist Church in Bonifay with Revs. Danny Sumerlin, Shelly Chandler and Jeff Spicer officiating.
Burial was in Bonifay City Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.

Shirley F. Lane, 62
Shirley Fay Lane of Chipley died Dec. 3 at Washington County Convalescent Center. She was born Aug. 31, 1942, in Columbus, Ga.
Lane was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Grace Lane; a sister, Lorene Armstrong; and two brothers, Eugene and Nathan Guinn.
Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Bob Jones of Ponce de Leon; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services were held Dec. 7 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Orr officiating.
Burial followed in Ebnezer Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing.

Andrew B. Bush, 95
Andrew Berry Bush of Chipley died Dec. 2 in Dothan, Ala. He was born Feb. 1, 1909, in Brooklyn, Ala., to William Neal and Matie Venters Bush.
He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Orange Hill Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jahaza Bush; a son, John Neal Bush; daughter, Joan Bush; son-in-law, Melvin Justice; three brothers, Haggard Bush, William (Bill) Neal Bush Jr., and Louie Bush; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Jean Bush of Chipley, Mary Hinson and husband, Leonard, of Chipley and Frankie Justice of Slocomb, Ala.; a daughter-in-law, Jan Bush of Wewahitchka; a sister, Ethel Nelson of Chipley; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 4 at the Orange Hill Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Alderman officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing.

Dessie Hutchins, 82
Dessie Hutchins of Milton died Dec. 4. She had lived in Milton since moving there from Chipley in 1992.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Thurman and Susan Hutchins, Rick Hutchins and John Wayne Hutchins, one daughter and son-in-law, Violetta and William Olsen, all of Milton; a brother, two sisters, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1 p.m. Dec. 9 in Brown Funeral Home chapel on Hwy. 77 in Chipley with Rev. Carlos Finch officiating.
Burial will follow in the Rock Hill Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing.

Macie Lynn and
Emily Faith Gainey
Graveside services were held Dec. 4 for Macie Lynn and Emily Faith Gainey, twin daughters of Malcolm Scott and Frances Nicole Hendrix Gaines of Cottondale.
The Rev. Dallas Pettis officiated at the service and burial in Rock Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include the grandparents, Whit and Carol Gainey of Chipley, Billy and Mildred Hendrix of Wausau; great-grandcparents, Austin and Frances Cannon of O’Brien; and the great-grandmother, Ida Hendrix of Chipley.
Brown Funeral Home of Chipley was in charge of arrangements.

Maggie Andrews, age 80, of DeFuniak Springs
Maggie Andrews, age 80, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away Saturday, September 22, 2007 at her residence.
Maggie was a resident of DeFuniak Springs for nearly the past two years, after moving from Caryville, Florida. She was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witness Congregation in Bonifay, Florida for 25 years before moving to DeFuniak Springs.
Maggie is preceded in death by her husband James Leslie Andrews and son Wayne Andrews.
Maggie is survived by four sons, Roger Andrews and wife Linda of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Ebbie Dean Andrews and wife Katherine of West Point Beach, Florida, Alvin Andrews and wife Raynette of Windsor, Virginia, and Darrel Andrews and wife Darla of Monticello, Florida; two daughters, Renee Alexander of Arizona and Sheila Andrews of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Bonifay Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses beginning at 3:00 p.m. with Elder Scott Hatton officiating.
Arrangements and services are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home.

Alice G. Bruner
Alice Gary Bruner, 90, died Sept. 8 at Washington County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Chipley. She was born July 30, 1917, in Jackson County.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mary Gary; her husband of 60 years, Franklin Bruner; five siblings, George Gary, Troy Gary, Coy Gary, Gladys Morgan and Edna Luker; and a son-in-law, Doug Sullivan.
She and her husband owned and operated Bruner Egg Farm at Orange Hill for many years. She was retired as a Green Thumb Employer of Washington County Health Department. In addition, she had worked several years at the Washington County Council on Aging.
Bruner was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Blue Lake Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 58 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Sullivan of Chipley; one sister, Vera Hallford of Geneva, Ala., a first cousin, J.D. Cumbaa, two grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Services were held Sept. 11 at Blue Lake Baptist Church with the Rev. (Dr.) Alcus Brock officiating.
Burial was in Piney Grove Baptist Cemetery in Jackson County with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
