Thomas Carl “Bubba” McCroan, 47 of Alford died Wednesday, May 30, at his home.
A native of Valdosta, Ga., McCroan had resided in Jackson County for the past 30 years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Carl McCroan and his parents, Thomas Watson and Lelia Kay Fortune McCroan.
Survivors include his son, Jeremy McCroan and fiance’ Alicia Cooper; a daughter, Christy McCroan; a daughter-in-law, Jamie McCroan all of Alford; his fiance’ Elizabeth Cooper also of Alford; two sisters, Margie Syfrett of Bonifay and Helen Hart of Alford; and four grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service was held on June 11, at Round Lake Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
Willis B. Thompson
Willis B. “Dock” Thompson, 88, of Geneva, Ala., died June 9. He was born Oct. 2, 1918, in Holmes County to the late John Will and Effie Mims Thompson.
He retired as a mechanic with Van Heusen after several years of service. He was a member of Eden Baptist Church and of the Geneva Senior Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Bernice Johnson Thompson; three sisters, Evie Treadwell, Lovie Bryan and Ivy Brannon; two brothers, Wilber and Frank Thompson; an infant son, Charles Thompson, and an infant grandson, Michael Thompson.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Willis B. Jr. and Ann Thompson of Jacksonville, Cecil and Verlon Thompson of Hartford, Ala.; one brother and sister-in-law, Doferice and Rebecca Thompson of Westville; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Olliev Trant of Geneva, Sally and Shorty Neel and husband of Jacksonville, Levalle and Carlton Miller of Grove, Texas, and Dorothy McWhiter of Mobile, Ala.; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other family.
Services were held June 12 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert Beasley officiating.
Burial was in Hurricane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Holmes County with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.

Aubie Willard Pitts
Aubie Willard “A.W.” Pitts, 89, of Bonifay died June 10 at his son’s home in Ocoee. He was a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by a son, Harold Pitts.
Survivors include his wife, Irene (Dean) Pitts of Bonifay; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Jim Wilcox of Orlando; two sons and daughters-in-law, Earl and Betty Pitts of Bonifay, Houston and Louise Pitts of Ocoee; a daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Pitts; close friends, Charles and Myrle Steverson of Bonifay; nine grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held June 15 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. John Taylor and Dennis Pitts officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery with Sims Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
Will Junior Sasnett
Will Junior Sasnett, 70, of Bonifay died June 8 at Bonifay Nursing and Rehab Center in Bonifay. He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Anderson.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine (Sellers) Sasnett of Bonifay; a daughter, Elois Sasnett Bradshaw of Bonifay; two sons, Larry Sasnett and Kenny Sasnett, both of Westville; six brothers, Max Sasnett of Ponce de Leon, J.G. Sasnett, John Sasnett, Paul Sasnett, Bobby Sasnett and Elmer Sasnett, all of Westville; two sisters, Vera Thomas and Mary Gillis, both of Westville, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held June 11 at Westville Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Johnie Bradshaw and Paul Davis officiating.
Burial was in Westville Cemetery with Sims Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
Shannon Lea Mitchell
Shannon Lea Mitchell, 50, of Bonifay died June 4 at her home.
She is survived by her mother, Emily (Appleton) Mitchell of Silver Point, Tenn.; father, Kenneth Mitchell of Fort Launderdale; sister, Marsha Busby of Los Angeles, Calif., and several half-sisters.
Memorialization was by cremation with Sims Funral Home of Bonifay in charge of arrangements.
Richard M. Chew
Richard M. Chew, 82, died June 7 at Sun City Center Hospice House in Ruskin. He was born Oct. 6, 1912, in Shelby, Ohio, to Harry and Grace (Landis) Chew.
He was retired from Civil Service as a Navy veteran and was of the Protestant faith.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Chew.
Survivors include his wife, Ginny Chew of Chipley; three sons, Tom Gerhart of Tampa, Michael Gerhart of Philadelphia, Pa., and Richard Bradley of Sacramento, Calif.; one daughter, Carol Kelly, of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were held in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Darrow officiating.
Burial was in Wachob Forrest Lawn Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
Lounette W. Halstead
Lounette Williams Halstead, 88, of Graceville died June 9 at Extended Health Center in Dothan, Ala. She was born in Dothan June 17, 1918, to Hilliard T. Martin and Lela Davis Martin.
She moved to Graceville in 1939 and lived there until entering the health center. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Graceville.
Halstead was preceded in death by her first husband, Olan Jiggs Williams, and her second husband, Thomas Halstead.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Williams of Palm Beach Gardens; a stepson, Bill Halstead; a brother, H.T. Martin; one sister, Nell Collins, two grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was held June 11 at First Baptist Church of Graceville with Dr. Jerry Windsor and Dr. Wiley Richards officiating.
Burial was in Marvin Chapel Cemetery in Graceville with Williams Funeral Home of Graceville directing.
