Christopher Scott Howell of Coffee Springs, Ala., died Jan. 24 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born July 27, 1970, in Coffee County, Ala.
Howell was preceded in death by his grandparents, George L. and Myrtie King and John “J.B.” and Jennie Mae Howell.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Franklin and Patricia Howell of Coffee Springs; mother and step-father, Hilda and William Dawson of Pace; one sister, Linda Phillpot of Dothan, Ala.; one step-brother, Steve Owens of Enterprise, Ala.; an aunt, who lives in Westville; two nephews, and one niece.
Funeral services were held Jan. 27, in the Chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva, Ala.
Burial followed at Highfalls Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.
James A. Matthews, 59
James Asa Matthews of Chipley died Jan. 21 in Bonifay.
He was born in Chipley on Oct. 10, 1943, to Calvin Holley and Mary Elizabeth (Jones) Matthews. He returned to Chipley to live in 1990.
He was a Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Chipley.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Matthews of Chipley; three sons, Rickey Hatfield of Hartford, Ala., Dennis Hatfield of Graceville, and Allen Cleveland of Fort Benning, Ga.; two daughters, Melissa Erickson of Ponce de Leon, and Regina Cruthers of Chipley; four brothers, Vernon Lewis of Bedford, Va., Henry Matthews of Chipley, Homer Matthews of Richmond, Va., and Ronnie Matthews of Enterprise, Ala.; four sisters, Betty Corbin of Alford, Louise Cook of Chipley, Virginia Reichmyer of Chipley, and Vernell Matthews of Chipley; and three grandchildren.
Memorialization was by cremation with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley in charge of arrangements.
Sallie Everett, 87
Sally Everett of Chipley passed away on Jan. 25.
She was a lifelong resident of Chipley and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her step-mother, Jeanette Parish of Southport; three sons, Charles Everett and wife Sharon of Port St. Joe, James Everett and wife Sherrill of Sneads, and Billy Ray Everett and wife Myra of Youngstown; three daughters, Dollie Haven of Ashford, Ala., Ethlyn Brock and husband Cleo of Bainbridge, Ga., and Margie Kelley of Appalachicola; five brothers, George C. Parish Sr. of Panama City, Doyle E. Parish of Southport, Ronald Parish of Dothan, Ala., Ben Parish of Newport, Va., and Danny Parish of Wausau; three sisters, Jean Griffin of Lynn Haven, Myrtice Clark of Chipley, and Minnie Stewart of Southport; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 27 in the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. William E. Holman officiating.
Burial followed in Double Pond Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
Romellie Rooks, 94
Romellie Rooks of Chipley died Jan. 24 at Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley
She was a native of Jackson County and a homemaker. She attended Sapp Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dade and Ollie Sapp.
She is survived by one son, Hubert Cumbie, and wife Ann of Chipley; two sisters, Ira Belle Corbin of Chipley and Arie Gaylord of Lake City; three grandsons, 11 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and a stepdaughter, Lois, of Lancaster, Penn.
Funeral services were held Jan. 26 at Sapp Holiness Church with the Rev. Cloys Joiner officiating.
Burial followed at the church cemetery with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
Carolyn E. Pipkin, 75
Carolyn Elizabeth Pipkin of Avon Park died Jan. 25 in Tampa.
She was born in Bowling Green, and was a resident of Fort Meade before moving to Avon Park in 1942,
She was a fruit packer for the citrus industry.
She was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Elrod of Frostproof, and Eva Mae Tyree of Whiteville, North Carolina; one sister, Marie Porter of Avon Park; six grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 28 at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home with Rev. R.L. Polk officiating.
Burial followed at Bougainvillea Cemetery in Avon Park.

Kevin D. Wilson, 25
Kevin Daniel Wilson of Westville died Jan. 20, as a result of an auto accident.
Survivors include his parents, Paul and Julia Ann Wilson of Westville; one brother, Mark Wilson and wife Cindy of Bonifay; maternal grandmother Ozie Hand of Westville; and one niece.
Funeral services were held Jan. 23 at Camp Ground Church. Burial followed at Camp Ground Church Cemetery with Revs. Wesley Adams and John Chance officiating.

Bessie Mae Chance, 90
Bessie Mae Chance of Bonifay died Jan. 24 at Mariner Health of Bonifay.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Chance.
Survivors include a son, Rev. John Chance and wife Joyce of Bonifay; one brother, Marion Dinkins of Bonifay; two sisters, Charlene Price of Chipley and Nell Tew of Phenix City, Ala.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 26, at Peel Funeral Home Chapel in Bonifay.
Burial followed at St. John Church Cemetery with Revs. Ike Steverson and John Chance officiating.
