Fred Giles Baldwin Jr., 71, of Bonifay died July 7 at Jackson Hospital in Marianna. He was born Jan. 10, 1936, in Fort Worth, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Giles Baldwin Sr.; mother, Ruth Craig Campbell, and a son, Craig S. Baldwin.
Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Smith and husband, Darryl, and a guardian, Catherine S. Baldwin, all of Bonifay.
Graveside services were held at Westville Community Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating, and Peel Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
Lois Viola Kirkland
Lois Viola Kirkland, 88, of Bonifay died July 9 at Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva, Ala. She was born Aug. 20, 1918, in Noma.
Kirkland was preceded in death by her parents, Alter Lee and Rachel Annettie Hollis Tew; two brothers, Valient Tew and Marion Tew; three sisters, Alice Benton, Leola Tindell and Mozell Adkison, and a granddaughter, Connie Kirkland.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, James Randall and Carolyn Kirkland of Bonifay, James Noah “Jimmy” Kirkland Jr. of Hartford, Ala., Robert Eugene and Wanda Kirkland of Umatilla; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jesse Annette and Ken White of Shelby, N.C., Lois Anita and James Faircloth of Bonifay; 24 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held July 11 at First Baptist Church of Esto with the Rev. John Foxworth officiating.
Burial was in Esto Community Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
John B. Fisher
John B. Fisher, 76, of Vernon died July 9 at his home. He was born Nov. 18, 1930, in Plymouth, Pa.
Fisher was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He had lived in Vernon for the past 14 years, moving there from Lake County. He was founder of Pipefitters UAW Local 803.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Fisher of Vernon; one son, John Ludlum of Blairville, Ill.; five daughters, Tammy Cuoas of Jacksonville, Jacqueline Bishop, Constance Hall, and Pamela Gonzales, all of Orlando, and Vickie Mendosa of Apopka; one brother, Harold S. Fisher of Wausau, Missouri; four sisters, Betty Murray, Phyllis Pserdhomme, Gladys Kennedy and Carol McCloud; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held July 11 at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Wiggins officiating.
Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery in Orlando with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley in charge of arrangements.
Dewey Franklin Coalburn
Dewey Franklin Coalburn, 73, of Dothan, Ala., died July 8 at his residence. He was born June 9, 1934, in Nauvoo, Ala., to Newburn and Rachel Cates Coalburn.
Coalburn served in the U.S. Navy and the Korean Conflict from 1959-1963. He married Carolee Marcea Goodier May 3, 1978, in Greentown, Ind. After working at PPG in Kokomo, Ind. until 1978, he worked at Chrysler Transmission as a millwright until retirement in 1998. The Coalburns moved to Chipley in 1999 and to Dothan in 2004. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Coalburn in 1998.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Carolee Marcea Coalburn of Dothan; stepdaughters, Penny Taylor of Florida and Pamela Lusher of Carmel, Ind.; a stepson, Ricky J. Powell of Kokomo, Ind.; a son, Gerald Coalburn of Orlando; a brother, Elzie Coalburn of Kokomo, several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews from Kokomo and Quinton, Ala.
Graveside memorial services were held July 12 at Sunset Memorial Park Pavilion with the Rev. Ward Clarke officiating and Robert Byrd of Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home and Crematory directing.
Christy Gail Capps
Christy Gail Wilkerson Capps, 32, of Westville died Tuesday, July 10, Christy fought a courageous battle with cancer.
Christy was born July 31, 1974 in Geneva County, Ala. Prior to her sickness she was employed with Flowers Hospital as a Nuclear Medicine supervisor.
She loved hunting and fishing, but her passion was riding and working with her horses. She was a member of East Pittman Baptist Church.
Her grandfather, Malcolm Owens, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Charlie Capps of Westville; parents: Ronnie and Brenda Owens Wilkerson of Bonifay; grandparents, Bernell Owens of Bonifay, Lillie Wilkerson of Westville and Arthur Wilkerson of Texas; great-grandparents, Curt and Vonzie Vaughan of Bonifay; a special uncle/brother: Kevin Owens and wife Jewellyn of Bonifay; aunts and uncles, Frank Owens and wife Vicki of Santa Rosa Beach; Lamar Wilkerson and Doug Wilkerson of Westville; Joyce Stephens and husband Wayne of Geneva, Ala; special friend/sister, Toni Hoffman of Bonifay; father and mother-in-law: Bill and Melba Capps of Dothan; one brother-in-law: Tim Capps of Ocala; one sister-in-law: Beverly Johnson and husband John of Wildwood; very special friend: Marion Sczykutowicz of Houston, Texas and several loving aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held July 14, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Revs. Wesley Adams and Herman Sellers officiating. Burial followed in the Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.

Wesley Owen
Wesley E. Owen, 77 of Chipley died Sept. 14. He was born July 14, 1930, in Washington County, son of James Homer and Kinnie (Fussell) Owen.
Owen was self employed as a peanut farmer. Of the Free Will Baptist faith, he was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church. He had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and, it was said, he looked forward to going home.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Owen.
Survivors include his wife, Katie Owen of Chipley; two sons, Wendell Owen and wife, Lynn, the Rev. Tim Owen and wife, Karen, all of Chipley; two brothers, Robert Owen and wife, Pearl, of Winter Haven, Clyde Owen and wife, Patsy of Crawfordville.
Funeral was held Sept. 17 at Piney Grove Free Well Baptist Church with the Rev. David Williford officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
Memorial donations may be made to the building fund at Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
Max L. Dixon
Max Lamar Dixon, 73, of Geneva, Ala., died Sept. 16 at his home following a battle with Corticobasal Ganglion Degeneration (CBGD). He was born Dec. 21, 1933, in Geneva County to the late Zeb and Lillie Mae Thames Dixon.
He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. During his military career, he was an Infantry Indirect Fire Crewman and received several distinguished medals including Army Occupation Medal (Germany), Good Conduct Medal (5th award), Expert Infantry Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Berlin), Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver and one Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, three Overseas Service Bars, Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and the National Defense Service Medal with OLC. He was a member of Adoniram Baptist Church.
Dixon was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Jack, Ray Don and Jimmy Dixon.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, JoAnn Brooks Dixon; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Junior Mixon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Hobie and Shelia Dixon, Tommy and Sherri Dixon, all of Geneva, Ala.; one brother, Hubert Dixon of Columbus, Ga.; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Blondell and Harvey Golson, Athealone and Vernon Lewis; a sister, Peggy Newby of Texas; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces,nephews and other family.
Graveside services were held Sept. 19 at Black Community Cemetery in Black, Ala., with Chaplain Tom Heedle officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.
