Louis Thomas, 95, of Chipley died Sept. 17 in Washington Rehab and Nursing Center in Chipley. A native of Brewton, Ala., he had lived in Washington County most of his life.
Thomas was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Chipley, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Eddie Lee Thomas of Chipley; three sons, Leo Thomas, Joe Louis Thomas and Willie James Thomas; a stepson, Wooten McCoy, all of Chipley; four grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral was conducted Sept. 22 at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Chipley with the Rev. Price Wilson officiating.
Burial was in Northside Cemetery in Chipley with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
Alvin Carswell
Alvin Carswell, 82, of Chipley died Sept. 12 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Ala. He was a native of Crestview but had lived in Washington County most of his life.
A retired truck driver for Van Horn Company, he was a bird watcher and a musician, playing the guitar and harmonica. He was of the Christian faith and was a member of the House of Prayer Worship Center in Chipley.
Survivors include two daughters, Bettie McKinnie of Chipley and Jean Register of Fort Pierce; a brother, Howard Carswell Sr. of Chipley, 14 grandchildren 25 great-grandchildren, 32 great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives.
Funeral was held Sept. 15 at the House of Prayer Worship Center in Chipley with the pastor, Anthony B. McKinnie, officiating.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chipley with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
Mary Mongoven
Mary Weeks Mongoven, 82, died Sept. 21 at her home. She was born Sept. 8, 1925, in Cornish, Maine, to the late Ernest and Augusta Weeks.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Don Weeks.
Mary was a homemaker and was active in the Chipley community and was an active member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. She was a member of the Woman's Club.
She worked with her husband during his years of practicing law. Her favorite past time was playing bridge with good friends and taking a trip of Las Vegas or Biloxi with her husband. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, William J. Mongoven; one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Thomas Eldridge; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Tim and Marsha Mongoven, Mickey and Ginger Mongoven, Barry and Cecilia Mongoven and Donnie Mongoven; two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces and nephews; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held Sept. 25 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Chipley with Father Sean Knox officiating.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Sunny Hills with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing.

Frances Pilcher
Frances Daffin Pilcher, 98, of Marianna died Sept. 21 at Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a native of Jackson County.
Pilcher was a former employee of Jackson Packing Company and a devoted home health care worker.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Marvin Talley, Omer Chatwood and Frank Pilcher; her parents, W.R. Daffin Sr. and Netia "Big Mama" Hightower; five brothers, J.B., Buster, Charlie, Joe and Hooks Daffin, and five sisters, Marie McBride, Edna Luster, Annette Standland, Grace Bethea and Margaret Bass.
Survivors include three sons, Herbert Talley and wife, Annie, of Tallahassee, Charles Talley of Bascom, and Gerald Chatwood and wife, Grace, of Marianna; a daughter, Mary Frances Hale of Auburn, Calif.; 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held Sept. 24 at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Roland Rabon officiating.
Burial was in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel, directing.
Clara N. Provost
Clara Nell Provost, 71, of the Rocky Creek community in Marianna, died Sept. 22 in Dothan, Ala. She was a native and life-long resident of Jackson County, and was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant. She was a member of Cypress Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Dollie Mears Owens.
Surviving are a daughter, Marian Gray; and a granddaughter, both of Marianna; three brothers, David Owens of Bristol, James Ben Owens of Blountstown, Johnny Wayne Owens of Grand Ridge; a sister, Margie Johnson of Chattahoochee; two special friends, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was held Sept. 25 at Cypress Community Church with the Rev. Jerry Mears officiating.
Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel, directing.
Carlton Greenwood
Carlton Eugene "Gene" Greenwood, 71, of Campbellton died Sept. 20. He was born in Coffee County, Ala., Jan 17, 1936, to the late Louie and Cola Stanton Greenwood.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Colonial Baking Company following 23 years. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Campbellton. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Fay Greenwood of Campbellton; three children, Michael Greenwood and wife, Ann, of Cottonwood, Ala.; Karen Harrison and husband, Darrell, of Marianna, Scottie Greenwood and wife, Shelly, of Graceville; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral was held Sept. 23 at First Baptist Church of Campbellton with the Revs. Gene Gainous and Luther Pumphrey officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by Sneads American Legion Post 241, and James & Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville directing.
James C. Phipps
James Christopher Linwood Phipps, infant son of James and Holly Phipps of Bonifay, died Sept. 18 at USA Children's and Women's Center in Mobile, Ala.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Mike and Cynthia Pettis of Bonifay, Walter and Kathy Phipps; his great-grandparents, Charles A. and Mary Fay Pettis of Bonifay; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside funeral service was held Sept. 20 in Carmel Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Moore officiating and Sims Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
