She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Lee Carman.
Survivors include her mother, Mary Carman of Lloyd; sons, Frankie Garrison of Fort Riley, Ks., and Patrick Motley of Phenix City; sisters, Jessie Young of Pensacola, and Rebecca Hill of Lloyd; paternal grandparents, Harry and Marie Rosetta of Oak Hill, Va.; maternal grandparents, Tom and Shirley Maddox of Bonifay; maternal great-grandparents, Bud and Beatrice Maddox of Panama City; maternal great-grandmother, Inez Steverson of Bonifay.
Funeral services were held May 30 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bonifay, with Elder Roger Williams officiating.
Burial followed in Steverson Cemetery, with Peel Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
Essie Luverne Roland, 88
Essie Luverne Roland of Graceville died May 31 at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born in Geneva County, Ala., and moved to Graceville in 1953.
She was a seamstress.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chalmous Roland, and two brothers, Jessie Strickland and Howard Strickland.
Survivors include her sons, J.L. Roland of Slocomb, Ala.; son, Wallace Roland and wife, Faye, of Graceville; son, Gerald Roland and wife, Joyce, of Graceville; son, Doyle Roland of Slocomb; daughter, Eloise Altman and husband, Buck, of Malvern, Ala.; daughter, Dorothy Bateman of Chipley; daughter, Helen Skipper of Fayette; brother, Junior Strickland and wife, Thelma, of Slocomb; sister, Rosie Taylor of Panama City; sister, Myrtle Peek of Panama City; 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held June 2 at First Assembly of God Church of Graceville, with Revs. Johnny Strickland and Sammy Spence officiating.
Burial followed at Rehobeth Cemetery, with Williams Funeral Home of Graceville directing.
Willie Edward Meredith, 46
Willie Edward Meredith of Westville died May 31 at his residence.
Survivors include his father, G.W. Meredith, of Westville; step-mother, Annie Jo Meredith, of Westville; two daughters, Virginia Austin and Amanda Meredith, both of Geneva, Ala.; two sisters, Rebecca Thomley of Westville and Genie Watson of DeFuniak Springs; a brother, Terry L. Meredith, of Samson, Ala.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 3 at Sims Funeral Home Chapel in Bonifay with Rev. Lindsey Martin officiating.
Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Sims Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
Ruthe Lewellyn Miller, 88
Ruthe Lewellyn Miller of Bonifay died May 29 at Doctors Memorial Hospital in Bonifay.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Heelan, of Westville; two sons, Paul Miller of Centreville, Mi., and Richard Miller of Albion, Pa.; a brother, Richard Craven of Henderson, Neb.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 2 at Sims Funeral Home Chapel in Bonifay with Father Paul White officiating.
Burial followed in Lake View Cemetery with Sims Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
Lola Mae Bush, 89
Lola Mae Bush of Chipley died July 27 at Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley.
She was a member of Bethel Primitive Baptist church for over 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John King Bush; a son, Wayne Bush; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include sons, Doyle Bush of Baker Hill, Ala., John Bush of Bonifay; daughters, Iris Hodge of Bonifay, Sue Baker of Skipperville, Ala.; sisters, Millie Paricio and Beatrice Revel, both of Panama City; brother, Allen McCullough of Magnolia Springs, Ala.; 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held July 29 at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Jesse Stanaland and Rev. Jesse Reeder officiating.
Burial followed in Bethel Cemetery with Sims Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
Wesley D. Nicholson, 74
Wesley D. Nicholson of Chipley died July 28 in Birmingham, Ala.
He had resided in Chipley since 1959.
He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
He was a member of the Orion Masonic Lodge in Chipley, and of the Hadijah Shrine.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Nicholson of Chipley; two sons, Rickey G. Nicholson of Chipley and Tony A. Nicholson of Steel Field; daughter, Linda D. Nicholson of Chipley; brother, William Nicholson of Mobile, Ala.; sister, Marie Dismukes of Mobile, Ala.; six grandchildren, and one expected great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held July 31 at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Wiggins officiating.
Burial followed in Shiloh Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
Harvey Albert Teal Sr., 76
Harvey Albert Teal Sr. of Liberty County, Ga., died July 27 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital near Atlanta, Ga.
He was a native of Ozark, Ala., and had lived in Liberty County since 1954, having moved from Bonifay.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.
He retired from civil service at Fort Stewart after more than 25 years.
He was a member of Hinesville Masonic Lodge #271 F&AM, where he was a member for more than 50 years.
He was a member of the Hinesville First Baptist Church, and was a local business owner.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Katherine S. Teal of Hinesville; son, Al Teal of Hinesville; sisters, Virginia Moore of Chipley and Evelyn Ciota of Bronxville, NY; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held July 30 at First Baptist Church of Hinesville, with Revs. Chuck Owens and Ted Hopkins officiating.
Burial followed in Oglethorpe Cemetery with Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Georgia directing.
