Mr. Billy Lamar Bragan, Sr. of Goshen Road, died Saturday, May 24, 2008. He was 75 years old. The family will receive friends before the funeral service on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Homes, South Chapel, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, 706.798.8886. Rev. Wayne Bruner will officiate. The committal service will be held Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. at Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan, Alabama. Rev. Ward Clarke will officiate at the graveside service. There will be full Military Honors and a Masonic service. Mr. Bragan was a member of the Goshen Country Club, the Augusta Shriner's Club, 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite, he was an SRS auditor of quality assurance. He retired from the U.S. Navy where he was an Chief Petty Officer. Billy is survived by his loving wife, Patricia "Pat" Bragan of Augusta; his sons, Billy Bragan, Jr. of Baxley, GA; and Robert F. Bragan of Baxley, GA; His daughter Betty J. Lewis of Bonifay, FL; his two sisters, Betty Kelley of Hartford, CT, and Elaine Murphy of Redmond, WA; his step-grandchildren, Danielle Howard of Covington, KY, Michael Howard of Covington, KY, Marrisa Dubberly of Baxley, GA; his grandchildren, Billy Bragan, III of Baxley, GA, Patricia Lewis of Bonifay, FL, Shawn Bragan of Oklahoma City, OK, Robert Bragan of Oklahoma City, OK, and Robert Frank Bragan of Baxley, GA.

Mrs. Switzer was born May 11, 1921 in Appling County, to the late Roan Hutcheson & the late Leona Roberts Hutcheson. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and preceded in death by a son, Gary Switzer. Survivors include: Her Daughter & Son-in-law, Debra & Rodney Carter of Baxley; Son & Daughter-in-law, Steve & Carolyn Switzer of Dickerson, Al; Brother, Henry Hutcheson of Baxley. 3 grandchildren, Vanessa & Ross Taylor, Joseph & Brandy Switzer, Victoria & Anthony Pearce & 1 great-grandson, Juddson Pearce.

Joel Donald Graham died at the age of 38, Thursday May 22, 2008, Joel was born Dec. 29, 1969 in Ware County. He was of the Baptist faith and was a former President of the Baxley Jaycees. Mrs. Elizabeth Beasley Carter died Monday, December 1, 2008 in the Appling Healthcare System. Mrs. Carter was born April 17, 1925 in Appling County, to the late Robert Norman Beasley and the late Gertrude Shipes Beasley. She was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church and was retired from Douglas and Harper. Survivors Include: 3 Daughters and Sons-in-law, Nancy Daley of Woodstock, Debbie and Dennis Baxley and Pat and Chris Taylor of Baxley; 2 Sons and Daughters-in-law, Roy and Jeanette Carter of Eatonton and Larry and Jody Carter of Jacksonville Florida; Brother, R.N. Beasley, Jr. of Eatonton. 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Julia Corneila Roberson, age 88, of Baxley, who passed away, Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Pavilion. Mrs. Roberson was a native and life-long resident of Baxley and had retired as a sales clerk from Woolworth's. She was a member of Norwick Baptist Church in Brunswick. She was preceded in death by her husband Flem Robertson; two brothers: Cecil and Wilton Sellers; and her parents Isaac and Pearl Sellers. She is survived by her two daughters Elaine Enterkin and husband Doug of Copperas Cove, Texas and Lynnah Jones of Jesup; three sisters; Linda Altman of Baxley, Betty Beck of Baxley, and Welda Rush of Jacksonville, Florida; and one brother: Gerald Sellers of Baxley. Visitation will be held from 6-9 Thursday at David E. Miles Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of David E. Miles Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Williamson and Reverend Dewitt Corbin officiating. Internment will follow at Satilla Baptist Church Cemetery. Claudette Craven Conner, age 77, of Baxley, died Thursday, April 10, 2008 in the Appling Healthcare System. Mrs. Conner was born September 15, 1930 in Appling County, to the late Judson Taylor & the late Haley Davis Taylor. She was a member of Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church and member of the Order of Eastern Star Baxley Chapter# 363 where she served as a past Worthy Matron. She was also a member of the 1947 & 1948 Appling County High School State Champion Basketball Team. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Craven & James Rufus Conner. She is survived by 2 daughters & son-in-law, Mary Sue & David B. Carter, Samantha & Joel Carter all of Baxley, 2 step-daughters & step-sons-in-law, Judy & Mac McAlhaney of Colorado Springs, CO & Mary & Mitchell Strickland of DeSoto, Texas; 1 son & daughter-in-law, Danny & Barbara Craven of Pt. Betty Jean Beasley age 74, died Friday, April 11, 2008 in Wayne Memorial Hospital. Miss Beasley was born July 24, 1933 in Appling County, to the late Phoye Beasley and late Sallie Mae Thomas Beasley. She was a member of the Baxley Church of God. She helped raise all of her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Beasley. Miss Beasley is survived by her sister, Eloise Taylor of Baxley, Brother, Johnnie Beasley. A host of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held Sunday, April 13, 2008 from the chapel of Swain Funeral Home. Rev. David Deen officiated. Interment followed at Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery. She was of the Baptist Faith and was preceded in death by her husband, William Perry Bentley. She is Survived by her Sister, Virginia Evans of Baxley; 1 brother, Delma Lord of Greenville, S.C.
