Russell Dewayne Roddenberry
(July 15, 1969 - August 29, 2012)
Russell Dewayne Roddenberry, 43, who passed away August 28, 2012 after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Appling County, and had lived in Jacksonville for the past several years. His parents, William "Doc" Miller and Ruth Harden Miller preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons, David Wade Roddenberry of Alma and Josh Aaron Roddenberry of Alma; a grandson, Hagen James Roddenberry of Alma; a brother, James Roddenberry and wife Glenda of Irwinton; a sister Kim Branch and husband Wayne of Baxley; several nieces, nephews and other family members also survive. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 1, 2012 from 6-8 pm from the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 2, 2012 at 2 pm from the David E. Miles Funeral Home Chapel. Josephine Chancey Moody

David E. Miles Funeral Home announces the death of Josephine C. Moody, 74, who passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012 at her residence under the care of Southern Care Hospice. Survivors are two sons, Danny Johnson and wife Nancy of Baxley, and Joey Johnson and Debra of Baxley; five grandchildren, Jessica Pearce and husband Joe of Baxley, Jill Johnson of Baxley, Danielle Squires and husband Eric of Baxley, Derek Johnson and wife Angel of Baxley, and Dustin Johnson of Baxley; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Johnson, Ali Johnson, Evan Johnson and Emmett Squires all of Baxley; step-daughter, Patti Moody Chancey; two step-grandchildren, Michael Ray Baker, Jr. and Emma Baker; step-great-grandchild, Abigayle Baker; brother, Claude Chancey and wife Jo of Kissimmee, FL and other family members also survive. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 1, 2012 from 6-8 pm at the Baxley First Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, September 2, 2012 at 2 pm at the Baxley First Baptist Church with the Reverend Keith Alderman, Reverend Mike Redwine and Rowell Poblete officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery**. Active pallbearers will be Allen Lightsey, Glenn Crummey, Marty McIntyre, Michael Mayers, Henry Jones and Haden Rozier. Wanda "Joy" Andrews Wright
(Born January 19, 1951 - Died August 27, 2012)
Wanda "Joy" Andrews Wright, 61, of Madeira Beach, (Pinellas Co.) FL, passed away August 27, 2012 after a long battle with breast cancer. Born in 1951, she is the daughter of Juanita Britt Andrews and the late Bill Andrews. Joy worked as a Senior Loan Processor for many home builders in the southeast for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her father, an infant daughter, Amanda Jay Daniel and a nephew, Cameron Ray. Survivors include her husband, Rick Wright of Madeira Beach, FL; her mother and one sister, Julie Hopkins both of Baxley; one daughter and son in-law, Renee and Bill Crenshaw of Lake Placid, FL; two grandchildren, Katie Crenshaw and J.C. Crenshaw of Lake Placid, FL; several aunts and cousins also survive. Memorial services will held Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 4 pm at the David E. Kevin Michael Bergeron
(December 23, 1964 - August 28, 2012)
Kevin M. "Kev" Bergeron, passed away unexpectantly Tuesday, August 28, 2012. He was born December 23, 1964 in Kodiak, AK. He loved fishing, World Wrestling Federation, grilling out and spending time with his daughter Jenny. He was preceded in death by his father Gene Bergeron. Survivors are his daughter, Jennifer Bergeron of Seneca, SC; mother, Betsy Bergeron of Waterford, CT; sister and brother in-law, Nancy and Jeff Flewelling of Augusta, ME; two nieces, Krystle and Mikaela Flewelling; several aunts, uncles, cousins and other family also survive. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 2, 2012 at 4 pm from the David E. Miles Chapel. Visitation will be held at 3 pm prior to the funeral service on Sunday. David E. John Samuel Beck, Sr.
John Samuel Beck, Sr., 61, of Clayton, passed away Saturday, September 22, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Macon County, N.C. and was the son of Jefferson Davis Beck, Jr. and Alice Maria Speed Beck. In addition to his parents, a brother, Ned Beck, preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn Beck; three sons, Dr. Scott Beck and his wife Allison of Rabun Gap, Johnny Beck and wife Torri of Warwoman Community, Joey Beck and his wife Brooke of Warwoman Community; one sister, Wanda Dunn of Tallulah Falls and three grandchildren, Timothy Beck, Tucker Beck, and Lawson Beck; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Sam served proudly in the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. He was a consultant for Casteel Property Management, served on the Rabun County DFACS Board, was past Director of Georgia State DFACS Board. He was a past member of the RCD Board. He was Commander of the American Legion Post 220. Sam loved his grandchildren very much and thoroughly enjoyed helping others. He attended Antioch Methodist Church and his hobbies included being an avid train lover. The family received friends at Beck Funeral Home on Monday, September 24, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 25, at Antioch Methodist Church with Pastor James Turpin, Pastor Larry Cannon, and Pastor Jim Carver officiating. Billy Hutchinson
Billy Hutchinson, 79, of Lee County, died Monday, September 24, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, September 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Bobby Moye officiated. Interment followed in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery. A native of Baxley, Hutchinson had resided in Lee Co. for the past fifteen years after moving from Albany. He was retired from Albany Water, Gas and Light and after retirement he and his son owned and operated Hutchinson's Hauling and Lawn Care. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Hutchinson; one son, Billy Rodney Hutchinson and one daughter, Sherrill Ferrari, all of Lee County; one brother, Way Hutchinson and one sister, Winnie Doyle, both of Baxley; and three grandchildren, Ben Hutchinson, Christian Hutchinson and Dustin Ferrari. Rev. Prince Colvin Ogden, Jr.
Brown Funeral Home announces the death and funeral services of the Rev. Prince Colvin Ogden, Jr., who died Sept. 25, 2012. He was born in Appling County, on October 14, 1927 to the late Prince Ogden, Sr. and the late Asoline McLeod Ogden. Ogden was educated in Appling County, Consolidated School. He was enlisted in the Army for four years. During that time he was accepted into the Officer Candidate School, which was a significant and honorable achievement for him. Ogden retired from Ford Motor Company after dedicating 41 years of service. While residing in Buffalo, NY the Rev. Ogden founded and was the pastor of God's Deliverance Center. He was also the pastor of Jesus Rainbow Community Church in Baxley. Survivors include his loving wife, Glora Ogden of Baxley; his children, Carolyn (Robert) Patterson of Hastings, FL, Diane (Dale) Mitchell of Buffalo, NY, Sheila Richardson of Tonawanda, NY, Sheryl (Harvey) Marable of Amhurst, NY; Jonathan (Candice) Ogden of Indian Head, MD; Ladonna Ogden of Woodbridge, VA and Eugene (Mattie) Gilliam of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Lemuel Jones, Lathell Jones, Deidre Prewitt, Michael Prewitt, Sabrina Prewitt, Kayla Prewitt, Keshaun Richardson, Jasmine Ogden, Jordan Ogden, Kim Gilliam, DJ Gilliam, Kehamoney Gilliam and Beonca Gilliam; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 from Harvest Chapel Church with Pastor Agnes Sellers and Bishop Randy Sellers officiating. Marge Elaine Warrick-Williams
Marge Elaine Warrick-Williams died Sept. 14, 2012. Marge was born to the parentage of the late John Wesley Warrick and Elizabeth Littell Banks-Warrick on August 23, 1947. She lived most of her life in Atlanta and was educated at Northwestern High School in Jacksonville, FL. She continued her education at the vocational trade school in Minneapolis, MN. Marge was a very dedicated employee at AT &T in Atlanta. She retired after 20 years of service. On Sept. 14,, God unveiled his master plan and called Marge to her final resting place. Many of us do not understand "why" yet we must say, "Father not my will, but thy will be done." In addition to her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her daughter, Nikita Leann Davis, her husband, John Fowler Williams and a brother, John Wesley Warrick, Jr. Survivors include her children, Opal Felicia (Edward) Platt, Chanda Darice Clark, Richmond Lamar (Jennifer) Clark and Warren Franklin Williams (step-son); four sisters, Joyce Elizabeth Banks, Cynthia Regina Warrick, Phalanda Latrice (Quincy) Boyd and Ann Lisa (William) Smith; four brothers, Palmer Nathaniel (Debra) Warrick, Samuel Wade Warrick, Aubrey Erskine Warrick and Marvin Lewis (Eunice) Warrick; seven grandsons, Edward Platt, III, Jermail Jerkins, Eric Platt Ezekiel Platt, Kaleb Jenkins, Dxavia Clark and Isiah Clark; five granddaughters, Britiani Blackmon, Le'Kia Clark (Wendell) Baker, Britney Clark, Kenya Jenkins and Sephia Clark; special friends, Ms. Cherry, Marva Jean Harrison, Elaine Darrowson and Sheila High and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Elzie Hayes, Jr. Burial followed on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta. Active pallbearers were grandsons and nephews. Joan Grace Carroll
Joan Grace Carroll, 71 (born November 10, 1940), died Friday, October 12, 2012 at Douglasville Nursing and Rehab. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, October 16, at 10:00 a.m., at Mathews Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Lanning officiating. Interment was at 3:00 p.m. at Hazlehurst City Cemetery in Hazlehurst. Mrs. Carroll was a native of Hazlehurst, and a resident of Leesburg. She was retired from Carquest as an administrative assistant, Past President of VFW Post #2785 Women's Auxiliary and a member of Avalon United Methodist Church. Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Phoenix Carroll. Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Carroll Shemery, Worth Co.; a son, Craig Carroll, Harris Co.; a brother, Kelly Grace, Hazlehurst; two sisters, Marilyn Gribble, Baxley and Saralyn Stapleton (David), Hazlehurst; and two grandchildren, Heather Shemery and Haley Shemery. Mottie Heath O'Berry
Mottie Heath O'Berry, 89, passed away Thursday, October 11, at the Pavilion under the care of Southern Care Hospice. She was a native of Wayne County and lived most of her life in Appling County. Mrs. O'Berry was a retried lunchroom worker with the Appling County Board of Education and a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin T. "Ben" O'Berry. Mrs. O'Berry is survived by three sons, Tommy and wife Sylvia O'Berry of Granitville, S.C., Willis and wife Elnora O'Berry and Charles O'Berry, both of Baxley; seventeen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter and wife Connie Heath; one sister, Virginia and husband Wade O'Berry, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 14, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of David E. Miles Funeral Home with the Reverend Jimmy Howard officiating. Interment followed in the Friendship Church Cemetery. The family received friends Saturday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Active Pallbearers were Randall Howard, Joe Heath, David T. O'Berry, David O'Berry, Jason O'Berry and Ben Morgan.
