Wanda "Joy" Andrews Wright

David E. Miles Funeral Home announces the death of Wanda "Joy" Andrews Wright, 61, of Madeira Beach, FL, passed away August 27, 2012, after a long battle with breast cancer. Born in 1951, she is the daughter of Juanita Britt Andrews and the late Bill Andrews. Joy worked as a Senior Loan Processor for many home builders in the southeast for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her father, an infant daughter, Amanda Jay Daniel and a nephew, Cameron Ray. Survivors include her husband, Rick Wright of Madeira Beach, FL; her mother and one sister, Julie Hopkins both of Baxley; one daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Bill Crenshaw of Lake Placid, FL; two grandchildren, Katie Crenshaw and J.C. Crenshaw of Lake Placid, FL; several aunts and cousins also survive. Memorial services will held Wednesday, September 5, at 4:00 p.m. at the David E. Miles Funeral Home Chapel with Joey Andrews officiating. Visitation will be held at 3:00 p.m. prior to the memorial services on Wednesday. David E. Miles Funeral Home is in charge of these arrangements.

Kevin M. "Kev" Bergeron

David E. Miles Funeral Home announces the death of Kevin M. "Kev" Bergeron, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 28, 2012. He was born on December 23, 1964, in Kodiak, Alaska. Kev loved fishing, the World Wrestling Federation, grilling out and spending time with his daughter, Jenny. He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Bergeron. Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Bergeron of Seneca, SC; his mother, Betsy Bergeron of Waterford, CT; one sister and brother in-law, Nancy and Jeff Flewelling of Augusta, ME; two nieces, Krystle and Mikaela Flewelling; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and other family also survive. Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 2 from the chapel of David E. Miles Funeral Home. Visitation was held at 3:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Sunday. David E. Miles Funeral Home was in charge of these arrangements.

Virginia Beckworth Beasley Ford

Virginia Beckworth Beasley Ford, 85, passed a Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Memorial Health Center. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Jacksonville, the VFW Auxiliary Women's Group and the Women of Moose Chapter 305. She was preceded in death by her son, Hershel Vennon Beasley; a brother, Harley Daniel Beckworth; and a sister, Dora Beckworth Dukes. Survivors are a sister, Olivia Beckworth Artz of Knoxville, TN; two brothers, James Maxwell Beckworth of Columbia, S.C. and Robert Holt Beckworth, Sr. of Macon; and several nieces, nephews and other family also survive. Funeral services were Wednesday, September 5, at 12:00 p.m. at the David E. Miles Funeral Home chapel. Visitation was held at 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral on Wednesday. Interment followed in the Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery. David E. Miles Funeral Home was in charge of these arrangements.

Josephine Chancey Moody

David E. Miles Funeral Home announces the death of Josephine Chancey Moody, 74, who passed away Thursday, August 30, at her residence under the care of Southern Care Hospice. Survivors include two sons, Danny Johnson and wife, Nancy of Baxley, and Joey Johnson and Debra of Baxley; five grandchildren, Jessica Pearce and husband, Joe of Baxley, Jill Johnson of Baxley, Danielle Squires and husband, Eric of Baxley, Derek Johnson and wife, Angel of Baxley, and Dustin Johnson of Baxley; four great-grandchildren, Halie Pearce, Taylor Johnson, Ali Johnson, Evan Johnson, Emmett Squires and Anna Squires, all of Baxley; step-daughter, Patti Moody Chancey; two step-grandchildren, Michael Ray Baker, Jr. and Emma Baker; step-great-grandchild, Abigayle Baker; one brother, Claude Chancey and wife, Jo of Kissimmee, FL and other family members also survive. Visitation was held Saturday, September 1, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Baxley First Baptist Church. Funeral Services were held Sunday, September 2, at 2:00 p.m. at the Baxley First Baptist Church with the Reverend Keith Alderman, the Reverend Mike Redwine and Rowell Poblete officiating. Interment followed in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Allen Lightsey, Glenn Crummey, Marty McIntyre, Michael Mayers, Henry Jones and Haden Rozier. Honorary pallbearers were all friends and family in attendance. The family gathered at the home of Michael and Bedell Mayers. David E. Miles Funeral Home was in charge of these arrangements.

Woodrow "Woody" Wilson Moore

Woodrow "Woody" Wilson Moore, (USNR) ADJC, 92, born September 22, 1919 in Houston County, TN, went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2012. He started his Navy career in 1940 serving 30+ years. He was an active member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God and had a strong love for his pastor and the church. Woody was a great storyteller and always had something to talk about. He was an avid military historian and musician. He loved bowling and golfing and continued to play up until last year. Woody was a very humble man who never considered himself a hero but rather a true American. He was preceded in death in 1993 by his former wife, Margie Louise Moore. He is survived by his wife, Florence Moore; five children, Melver W. Moore (Margaret), William E. Reiter (Patricia), Phyllis E. Cason (James H.), David Ruttan (Sharon), and Ruth Dennis (Carl); 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. The family received friends from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL. Funeral service were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 15, in the Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, at Miles Family Cemetery in Baxley, with full Military Honors. David E. Miles Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Russell Dewayne Roddenberry

David E. Miles Funeral Home announces the death of Russell Dewayne Roddenberry, 43, who passed away August 28, 2012, after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Appling County, and had lived in Jacksonville for the past several years. His parents, Doc and Ruth Miller preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons, David Wade Roddenberry of Alma and Josh Aaron Roddenberry of Alma; one grandson, Hagen James Roddenberry of Alma; one brother, James Roddenberry and wife, Glenda of Irwinton; one sister Kim Branch and husband, Wayne of Baxley; and several nieces, nephews and other family members also survive. Visitation was held Saturday, September 1, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 2 from the chapel of David E. Miles Funeral Home. David E. Miles Funeral Home was in charge of these arrangements.

Coni Solomon
August 15, 1950 - September 5, 2012

Coni Gail Halligan Solomon, 62, of Athens, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012. This cherished daughter, loving wife and joyful, giving mother was a native of Glynn County. Mrs. Solomon was the daughter of James Halligan of Athens, and the late Loyce Jordan Halligan. She was a graduate of Athens High School, Class of 1968 and attended South Georgia College in Douglas where she met her beloved husband of 42 years. She enjoyed a long career in newspaper, beginning with the Athens Banner-Herald and ending with the Gwinnett Daily Post. She was also a member of Westside Baptist Church in Snellville, where she enjoyed working in the nursery. Survivors in addition to her father, include her husband, Samuel Solomon of Snellville; daughter, Staci Lyn Solomon Moon of Snellville; son, Andrew L. Solomon and wife, Joy of Dacula; brother, Jimmy Halligan and wife, Dale of Atlanta; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Noah, and Sarah Gail Moon and Ellie and Gracie Solomon, and a number of nieces and nephews. Celebration of life and heavenly homegoing were held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8 in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home in Athens with the Rev. Ben Lehmann officiating. Bernstein Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Athens, was in charge of arrangements.

Jackie Branch
September 26, 1942 - September 11, 2012

Jackie (Jack) Branch, 69, of Norcross, passed away Tuesday, September 11. Jack was born in Baxley, to Isham and Sina Causey Branch. He was a 1960 graduate of Appling County High School and later earned a Bachelor's Degree from Valdosta State College. Jack was an Air Force Veteran. He spent his career working at Bell South until he retired in 1992 and operated his own business contracting with local communication companies. Jack was preceded in death by his son, Brian; his sisters, Hattie and Nita, and his parents. Jack is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mary Kitty Johnson Branch; daughter, Victoria (Vickie); brother, Jim Branch and sisters, Annette Collins and Ivelyn Little. Jack was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time outdoors, and tending his vegetable garden. His friends and neighbors were often the recipients of the gardens bounty. Jack enjoyed maintaining machinery such as his tractors and heavy equipment. In the last few years, Jack enjoyed substitute teaching at Oglethorpe County Schools in Lexington, and volunteering at Oglethorpe County Elementary School where he helped in the library and read stories to the children. At his request, no service will be held. Those interested may donate in his memory to the American Heart Association or The National Kidney Foundation. Arrangements were by Tim Stewart Funeral Home of Lawrenceville.

Richard Ryan Berry

Richard Ryan Berry, 32, of Tifton, passed away on Sunday, September 16, at his home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Fred Evers officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Tifton. The body will lie in state at the church an hour before the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, at Northside Baptist Church. Jason Berry, Brandon Stone, Scotty Stone, Blake Stone, Colby Mayers, Andrew Suarez, Eli Stone, Beth Spence, Neisha Richards, Autumn Richards, Katie Mayers, Maddy Lezert, Abby Hamrick, Liz Hamrick and Carrie Berry will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick McClellan's Sunday School Class, Northside Baptist Church Choir, Rick Berry's Sunday School Class, the staffs of TRMC Oncology Center and Georgia Power Co., and special friends Josh Pope, Tony Tucker and Ricky Roberson. Ryan was born on August 26, 1980 in Augusta to his parents, Brenda Stone Berry and Richard Lee Berry, both of Tifton. He had lived in Tifton since he was nine years of age. Ryan graduated from Tift County High School in 2000 and he had helped to manage the football team. Ryan had worked with Lowe's in Tifton, and his dream job at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. He truly enjoyed music and was an active member of the Northside Baptist Church choir and while in school, he was a member of the Tift County High School Chorus. His hobbies were attending Northside Baptist Church, Nick McClellan's Sunday school class, growing flowers, and organizing fireworks shows for friends and family at every holiday possible. Ryan had a special talent of making people happy because he was always smiling and wanting to share with others. In addition to his parents, Ryan is survived by two brothers and sister in law, William Christopher and Nicole Berry, Colorado Springs, Co. and Benjamin Thomas Berry, Tifton; maternal grandmother, Velma Stone, Baxley and paternal grandmother, Mae Berry Newsome, Thomasville; uncles and aunts, R. L. and Diane Stone, Mickey and Gay Stone, all of Baxley, Stanley and Joan Stone, Vidalia, Sandra and Al Suarez, Macon, Lynnette and Norman Moseley, Jesup, Tom and Debra Berry, Thomasville, Gail and Jim Hamrick, Garner, N.C. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Richard Stone, paternal grandfather, the Rev. Bill Berry and an aunt, Katherine Stone. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to The Tree of Life Hospice of Tift Area, P.O. BOX 747, Tifton, GA 31793-0747, Northside Baptist Church Building Fund, 4605 Murray Avenue, Tifton, GA 31794.

Lynnette Carter Davis

Lynnette Carter Davis, 50, of Inman, died Wednesday, September 12, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Davis was the wife of Joel Robert Swager and was the daughter of the late Robert and Marjorie Cason Carter.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Davis is survived by one son, Justin Terry Davis of Inman; a daughter, Tori Lea Gillespie of Greer; one brother, Tollie Carter and his wife, Wendy of Keystone Heights, FL; two sisters, Patricia Reeves and her husband, Randall of Baxley, and Connie Sargent and her husband, Robert of Spartanburg; and two grandchildren, Whitney Miranda Gillespie and Peyton Carter Gillespie.
Visitation was at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15, at Living Waters Funeral Home and Crematory, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Tollie Carter and the Rev. Robert Swager, retired U.S. Army Colonel.
Interment was at Roselawn Memorial Gardens of Inman.
