The funeral service of Eulus Charles (E. C.) Bowen, 81, of 1317 7th Ave, Albany, who died Sunday, May 30, 2004, will be conducted Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens.
A native of Houston County, Al, Mr. Bowen had resided in Albany for the past 54 years. He was a retired fireman with The Marine Corps Logistics Base with 20 years of service and was a WWII Army Veteran. Mr. Bowen was a member of Westview Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his son, Mark Bowen.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma S. Bowen of Albany, a son, Neill Bowen of Albany and a daughter, Marilyn Bowen of Albany. A granddaughter, Amber Bowen, 2 special grandchildren, Tandre’ Holland Moody and Vince Holland, 2 great grandchildren, Jay and Allei Bowen. A sister, Merle Shiver of Sylvester.
The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Mathews Funeral home.
Mr. Horace Bernard King, 81, of 166 Rainbow Court, Jasper, GA and formerly of Colquitt and Dougherty Counties, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2004, at his home.
Mr. King was born in Moultrie, Georgia, on July 19, 1923, to the late Bernard Carson and Nomie Hall King. He served in the Army during WWII and was a Deputy Sheriff for the Dougherty County Sheriff's Department in Albany, GA for 30 years. He was a member of the Rock Hill Masonic Lodge and was honored for 50 years of service. Mr. King accepted Christ as his Savior at Rose Hill Baptist church in Hartsfield, GA; the funeral service will be held there on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with Mr. King's nephew, Danny Moree officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A memorial service will be held in Jasper at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Myron Moree King of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Richard Combs of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Glenda King of Ball Ground, GA; and daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Ronald Gold of Marietta, GA; sister Lillian King Howell of Albany; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Alice King of Moultrie, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Mary King of Albany, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Lew Bevan of Naples, FL; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Cecil Bowers of Moultrie, GA; Also surviving are grandchildren Brent Whitfield of Gray, GA, Kevin King of Kennesaw, GA, Whitney Evans of Greenville, SC, Kelly Payne of Jasper, GA, and Kimberly Combs of Jasper, GA. Great-grandchildren are Gavin and Garrett Whitfield of Gray, GA and Bennett Evans of Greenville, SC, plus several nieces and nephews.
Mr. King was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Louis King and his sister, Earline King Curley.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Brent Whitfield, Kevin King, Craig Evans, Brian Payne, Cecil Bowers and Lew Bevan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ruis Phillips, Elwood Moree, Marvin King and representatives from the Dougherty County Sheriff's Department.
Family will accept friends Tuesday (tonight) from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.

The memorial service of Charles Benito (Ben) Ladrillono, 52, who died Monday, October 18, 2004, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Edd Spurlock will officiate.
A native of Hillsborough County, FL, Mr. Ladrillono had resided in Albany for the past six years moving here from Titusville, FL. He worked as a mechanic for the Florida State Marine Patrol and was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, Dan Ladrillono of Leesburg, his mother, Katherine Scott, of Albany, two sisters and their husbands, Mary and Mark Missian of Orlando, FL, and Audrey and John Kumph of Deland, FL, two brothers, David Ladrillono and Bill Ladrillono and his wife, Kay, all of Leesburg and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service of Mildred Barnette, of 1203 Forest Glen Drive, Albany, who died Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Palmyra Medical Center, will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakhill Cemetery in Newnan, Ga. Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate.
A native of Coweta County, GA, Mrs. Barnette had resided in Albany since 1956 moving here from Thomaston, GA. A former nurse, she and her husband, Elmer Barnette, owned and operated Woodall Funeral Home (now Mathews Funeral Home) for many years. Miss Mildred, as she was affectionately known, continued to serve as receptionist and hostess until recently. Mrs. Barnette was a charter member of Sherwood Baptist Church and a was a former member of the choir.
Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Ellen and John Lane of Albany, three brothers and their wives, J. B. and Sarah Storey and of Newnan, Ga., Robert and Karen Storey of Fayetteville, GA, and Leroy and Louise Storey of Conyers, GA, two grandchildren, Missy Pilgrim and her husband, Chris of Albany, Bo Lane and his wife, Tracy of Albany and one great-grandchild, Hannah Grace Pilgrim.

The graveside funeral service of Jane Delores Zoellick, 74, of Albany,GA, who died Thursday, January 20, 2005, at her residence, will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Floral Memory Gardens. Rev. Charles Harper will officiate.
A native of New Orleans, LA, Mrs. Zoellick had resided in Albany since 1948 moving here from Mississippi. Mrs. Zoellick had resided in Tallahassee and Panama City Beach, FL for eight years before returning in 2001. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. Mrs. Zoellick was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Robert Lee Zoellick.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Ray Zoellick and his wife, Ann, Timothy Joseph Zoellick and his wife, Pam, all of Lee County, Georgia, and Jonathan Lee Zoellick of Dougherty County, Georgia, a daughter, Patti Ann Ashcraft and her husband, James of Lee County, four sisters, Vivian Laiche of Picayune, MS, Juanita Shiyou of Bay St. Louis, MS, Lorraine L. Clay of Hurt, VA and Evelyn Poole of Des Moines, IA, seven grandchildren, Shannon, Eric, Shane, Erin, Tara, David, Tori and two great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Kylie Cook.

A native of Bergen County, NJ, Mr. Hurter had resided in Oakland, NJ, for thirty six years before moving to Albany in 1992. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and a retired truck driver for Sam Braen and James Construction Company in New Jersey. Mr. Hurter was a former member of the Albany Christian Church, a lifetime member of the Volunteer Fire Department in New Jersey, a member of the Oakland Rod and Gun Club, a member of the White Flag Hunting Club in Albany, GA, and he was a member of the American Legion in New Jersey and transferred his membership to Albany in 2000. He was an avid bird and deer hunter. Mr. Hurter was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Annie Marguerite Jones Hurter of New York, NY.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Alma E. Hurter of Albany, a son and his wife, Donald and Therese Hurter of Ramsey, NJ, three daughters, Alma Jean Hurter of Albany, Audrey Hurter of Pompton Lakes, NJ and Laura Laverty DiValerio and her husband, Joseph of Glenolden, PA, a sister, Dorothy Ziehl of Oakland, NJ, a niece, Deborah Poquette of Highland Mills, NY, a nephew, George Ziehl of Oakland, NJ, and six grandchildren, Jade Hurter, Keith Hurter and Jake Hurter, all of Ramsey, NJ, Billy Laverty, Marley Laverty and Dan DiValerio, all of Glenolden, PA.

Mr. Joseph (Joe) Topshe, 88, of Albany, died November 27, 2005 at his residence after a brief illness. A funeral mass will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church. Rev. Finbarr Stanton will officiate. Interment will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery.
A native and life long resident of Albany, Mr. Topshe was a well known and well loved traveling automotive parts and accesories salesman in the Southwest Georgia Area. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty years, Louise Bolton Topshe.
During World War II, he served in the 10th Armored Infantry Battalion of The 4th Armored Division under General George Patton. His tour of duty included Germany, Belgium and Czechoslovakia and he took part in the liberation of France.
Mr. Topshe was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church and a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the VFW Political Action Committee. Mr. Topshe was a twenty year member of The Benevolent Protective Order of The Elks and was also a past member of The American Legion Post # 30.
Survivors include his loving daughters, Michele Carswell and her husband, William, of Albany and Dena Topshe of Ty Ty, Ga., grandchildren, William Joseph Carswell and Camille Carswell, both of Albany, his sister, Nora Ernest of Albany, a brother, Norman Topshe of Atlanta and numerous nieces.
A rosary will be recited Monday (today) at 6:00 P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 P.M.

A native of Turner County, Ga., Chris had resided in the Albany area since 1988. Chris was a 1999 graduate of Lee County High School, had attended Darton College and was a sales representative for Flint Beverages.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Jennifer and Tommy Bullington of Albany, two sisters, Amy Jones of Leesburg and Brook Bullington of Albany, a brother, Cory Bullington of Albany, his maternal grandmother, Jo Ann Owens of Rochelle, Ga. and his maternal great-grandmother, Eugenia Owens of San Paplo, Ca, two nephews, Ayden Harris and Devin Harris and a niece, Desiree McDaniel.

The memorial service of Howard Austin Craven, Sr., 81, of 408 Lovers Lane Rd., Albany, Ga., who died October 25, 2004, will be conducted Wednesday at 4:00 P.M. at Philema Road Baptist Church. Rev. Dan Harris will officiate.
A native of Grady County, Ga., born to Richard Ivey Craven and Roxie Viola Scroggins Craven, Mr. Craven had resided in Albany since 1957, moving here from Cairo. Mr. Craven was a World War II combat veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre on The USS Pringle, he worked with Modern Baked Enamel for twenty years and was the retired owner of Craven and Wright Body Shop. For the last year, Mr. Craven ran his lawnmower repair shop.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Ethridge and her husband, David, of Albany, Ga., Pamela Craven of Worth County, Ga. and Rose Burnham and her husband, Stan, of Madison, Ga., a son and his wife, Howard and Cindy Craven, Jr. of Leesburg, Ga., a brother and his wife, Luther and Liz Craven of Cairo, Ga., a sister, Marie Smith of Hawkinsville, Ga., the mother of his children and her husband, Kathleen and Jake Tillery of Albany, Ga., fifteen grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren. Mr. Craven was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Clyde Craven, Sr.
