Joyce Ann Martin Edwards
EAST POINT, GA - Joyce Ann Martin Edwards, 52, of 342 Chase Woods Circle, Jonesboro, died Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at Southern Regional Medical Center, Riverdale.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at J.S. Hammonds Missionary Baptist Church, Palmetto. The Rev. Willie R. Starks will officiate. Interment and graveside rites will be Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Floral Memory Gardens, Albany.
A native of Dougherty County, Ms. Edwards grew up in Albany before moving away to Clayton County. She attended the public school of Albany, and was a 1969 graduate of Monroe High School. She continued her education at Albany Area Technical School, Clayton State College and University. For over 26 years, she was an surgical technician at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale.
Ms. Edwards, was a member of the First Mount Olive Baptist Church while growing up in Albany, after moving she became a member of the J.S. Hammonds Missionary Baptist Church, Palmetto where she served the church faithfully as a member of the usher board. She was member of the Sisters of Faith Chapter No. 818, and Order of Eastern Star.
Left to cherish loving memories are two daughters, Nekisha "Nikki" Edwards and Kayla Daniels of Jonesboro, GA; mother, Grace Martin of Albany; sister, Dorothy Martin of Albany; a brother, Lester Martin of Albany; two nephews, Frederick Jones of Atlanta and Lester Martin II of Albany; and one niece, Carmyn Martin of Albany.
The remains of Ms. Edwards will repose at the Poteat Funeral Home, 1015 Cedar Avenue, Albany, from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Monday, March 3rd for viewing and signing the guest book by friends in the Albany area.

Charles William Fussell
ALBANY - Charles William Fussell, 39, of 2303 Pembroke Lane, died Friday, February 28, 2003 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Funeral service today (Sunday), 3 p.m., at Kimbrell-Stern, with a private interment service to follow. The Revs. Bobby Harrell and Tony Haefs will officiate.
An Albany native, Mr. Fussell was the property manager at Fussell's LaCha Farms in Leesburg. He was a graduate of Deerfield-Windsor, attended Auburn University and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his parents, Charles H. and Amelia T. LAMAR, AK - James Richard Gill Sr., 62, of Lamar, Arkansas, formerly of Albany, Georgia, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2003. He was retired from the U.S. Navy.

ALBANY - The memorial service of Donald Ray McCook, 67, of 1902 Colquitt Ave., who died Saturday, March 1, 2003, will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Harris will officiate.
A native of Worth County, Georgia, Mr. McCook had resided in Albany for the past forty five years. He was a retired insurance adjuster with Crawford and Company and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, June McCook of Albany; two daughters and their husbands, Elaine and Michael Walters of Monvobi, WI, and Lis and Russell Brown of Albany; two sons, Donald (Don R. McCook II and his fiance', Lisa Castongia of Albany, and Jody and Amie McCook of Athens, GA; and nine grandchildren, B.J. Jeremy, Rebecca, Lance, Katelyn, Samantha, Donald (Trey), Emily and Annie; and two great-grandchildren, Colten and Cailey.

ALBANY - Terrell Lee "Terry" Pittman, 51, of 3202 Higgins Drive, died Friday, February 28, 2003 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

A native of Macon, GA, Mr. Pittman had lived in Albany most of his life and was a member of Beacon Baptist Church. He was a self-employed trim carpenter and was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. Buford L. Pittman.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Chapman Pittman; two daughters, Carly P. Alderman and her husband, Dr. Troy Alderman of Leesburg, and Magan Pittman of Albany; a son, Michael Lee Pittman and his wife, April of Albany; two grandchildren, Will and Connor Alderman; his mother, Ann Veal Pittman of Albany; a sister, Linda P. Beck and her husband, Tim; two brothers, Ronnie Pittman and his wife, Cheryl, and the Rev. Bruce L. Pittman and his wife, Kim, all of Albany; and several nieces and nephews.

Emma Glenn Ramsey
ALBANY - Emma Glenn Ramsey, Capt. USMC, retired, 76, of Albany died Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, March 3, 2003, at 11 a.m., at St. Teresa's Catholic Church. The Rev. Finbarr Stanton will officiate. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
Miss Ramsey was born in Selma, AL, and had lived in Albany since 1971, and was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church. She graduated from Foley High School in Foley, AL, and attended Darton College. She served twenty years in the US Marine Corps. retiring in 1971, and was assigned duty at MCLB from 1966 to 1969. Upon retiring, she moved back to Albany and worked with Modern Gas Company for eight years. She was a member of the Retired Officers Association, Fleet Reserved Association, Women Marine Association, the Military Women's Memorial Association and the national and state Right of Life Association.
Survivors include four nieces, Katherine R. Dubbin, Sandra R. Buffalo, Deborah R. Keeter, all of Houston, Texas, Karen R. Westbrook of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; a nephews, Roy M. Ramsey of Culman, AL; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte J. Ramsey of Deer Park, TX, Mary C. Ramsey of Niceville, FL; and several close friends in Albany including Nancy and Frank Hall.
The family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hall, 423 Vintage Road, Albany.
There will be a rosary service held today (Sunday), 6 PM with visitation until 8 PM at Kimbrell-Stern.

Robert Richard Young
ALBANY - The funeral service of Robert Richard (Dick) Young, 77, of 2403 Cherry Laurel Lane, who died Friday, February 28, 2003, will be conducted today (Sunday) at 2 p.m. at Radium Springs Baptist Church. The Rev. Rusty Davidson and the Rev. Arvin Croy will officiate. Interment will follow in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate.
A native of Lee County, Mr. Young had resided in Albany for the past 39 years. He was an Army veteran serving during WW II. He was retired from Turner Air Force Base and Pellicano Construction Company.
Mr. Young was honored in July of 2002 at Radium Springs Baptist Church and this day was dedicated as Dick Young Day and the Prayer Room was dedicated and named the The Robert R. Young Prayer Room. He was the church prayer coordinator and had spent 28,000 hours of prayer in this room and responded to prayer needs as he was called upon. Mr. Young had served as deacon and chairman of deacons numerous times and taught the Men's Sunday School class. He was scout master of BSA Troop # 17 in Smithville and scout master of BSA Troop #14 at Radium Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Edith Dupree Young of Albany; two brothers, Henry Young of Smithville and Roy M. Young and his wife, Mattie of Albany; four sisters, Rachel Baker, Joyce Davis and her husband, George, all of Smithville, Nancy Greene of Albany and Sara Robinson of Shreveport, LA; a brother-in-law, Alfred Dupree of Americus; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Harold Hayes Chambless
DAWSON - Harold Hayes Chambless, 71, died on Friday, February 28, 2003 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus. The funeral service will be held on at 2 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Wyman Richardson officiating.
Mr. Chambless was a native of Dawson, born December 10, 1931, son of the late Clarence Griffin Chambless and Velna Ercell Hayes Chambless. He was a graduate of North Georgia College and served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He was self-employed with Chambless Gas Company and had been retired for a number of years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dawson and served as Deacon, he was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society, and one of his favorite hobbies was gardening.
Survivors include a brother, David Leon Chambless of Dawson; a sister, Varese Chambless Kirkpatrick of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.

MARIANNA, Fla. - Carl Edward Joiner, 81, of Graceville, Fla., died Friday, February 28, 2003, in Chipley, Fla.
He was a native of Newton. He retired after serving more than 31 years in the U.S. Air Force as a radar and special weapons technician and an instructor. He had lived in the area for more than 15 years.
He is survived by two sons, Don Joiner and his wife Kristin of Destin, Fla., and Jon Joiner of Wicksburg; a daughter, Sheila Folsom of Chipley, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Welcome Assembly of God Church in Dellwood, Fla. Burial will follow in the church cemetery will full military honors.
