Shirley Peavy
ALBANY - Shirley Peavy, 401 Flint Ave., longtime resident of Albany, died Friday, February 28, 2003, at Albany Health Care, following a long illness.
Ms. Peavy was born November 21, 1945. Her mother, Evelyn M. O'Neal, formerly of Albany, preceded her in death two weeks ago. Ms. Peavy attended most Albany City Commission meetings expressing her concern about handicap access in the Albany area. Although she had limited mobility, she continued to volunteer her time helping others throughout the community.
She is survived by her brother, Leslie O'Neal of Lincoln County, GA. She was buried in Augusta.
Memorials may be made to Georgia Sheriff's Boys Ranch.

ALBANY - Floy Lee Roberts, 67, of 122 Shady Glen Lane, died Monday, March 3, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held graveside, Friday, 11 AM at Floral Memory Gardens. Dr. Ron Baxley will officiate.
A native of Dawson, Mrs. Roberts had lived in Albany for most of her life. She was employed at Coats and Clark for 20 years and retired in 1991 from Miller Brewing Company after 12 years of service. After retiring, she and her husband moved to Donalsonville in 1993 and moved back to Albany several years ago. Mrs. Roberts was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church in Donalsonville and the Women on Missions organization. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Roberts, her parents, Raymond and Dora Hasty and a brother, Raymond Hasty.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by a daughter, Peggy Lee Spillers and her husband Tom of Albany; two sons, Thomas Wayne Roberts of Panama City, FL, and Tony Raymond Roberts and his wife Lori of Leesburg; two brothers, George Hasty and his wife Jean of Albany and Floyd Hasty, also of Albany; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Kimbrell Stern from 7 PM-8:30 PM Thursday.

Jessie Willard Waters
DAWSON - Jessie Willard Waters, 86, of Dawson died Monday, March 3, 2003, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Harvey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tom Newman officiating.
Mr. Waters was a native of Worth County, born December 13, 1916, son of the late James B. Waters and Odessa Nipper Waters. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, and received the Purple Heart Medal. He lived in Haralson, prior to moving to Terrell Co. in June 2001. He was a retired parts manager with Republic Air Lines and a member of Haralson Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, John Nipper Waters of Arabi; and four sisters, Winnifred James of Ashburn, Cortez Watson of Dawson, Helen Wishum of Americus and Earle Brannon of Arabi; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

ALBANY - Lois Worthy Banks Forrester, 91, of Tucker, formerly of Leesburg, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Meddow Brook Nursing Home in Tucker.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Leesburg. The interment service will held at the Georgetown Cemetery in Georgetown, GA, at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Bobby Harrell will officiate.
A native of Quitman, GA, Mrs. Forrester had lived in Georgetown for over forty years before moving to Leesburg in 1950. She had since moved to Tucker, GA, several years ago. Mrs. Forrester was a member of First Baptist Church of Leesburg and the Agape Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace R. Forrester.

ALBANY - Jerry Raymond Glover Sr., 63, died Monday, March 3, 2003, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hall & Hall Funeral Chapel with interment in Andersonville National Cemetery.
A native of Mobile, AL, Mr. Glover was born August 12, 1939. He was a printer with Moore Business Forms. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Glover of Albany; three sons, Ronald Wilson Davis of Perry, Jarrett Leigh and Stacie Glover of Haynesville, and Jerry Glover Jr. of Leesburg; two daughters, Jeanni and Frank Cummings of Hope Mills, N.C., and Deborah Glover of Albany; a stepdaughter, Teresa Ann Carranza of Valdosta; two brothers, Skipper and Cherrie Glover of Benton, AR, and Sparky Glover of Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Joyce Galyean of Baton Rouge, LA, and Joan Strickland of Phenix City, AL; granddaughter, Lori Glover of Albany; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Redd Coes
UNADILLA - Elizabeth Redd Coes was born July 7, 1945, in Bibb County, Macon, GA, to the parentage of the late Deacon Hayward Redd Sr. and the late Sister Jimmie Lee Brown Redd. She answered the call of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, February 22, 2003, in the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA, after a very brief illness.
At an early age she joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Macon, GA. She was a very active member from childhood through her adult life. She served in the Sunday School, BTU, Youth Department, Senior Choir and performed other Christian duties. She attended Bibb County public schools and was a graduate of Peter G. Appling High School where she played basketball. She attended Macon Area Vocational and Technical School, The Theological Seminary of Macon and many other seminars and workshops in both her Christian and professional life.
She worked as a salesperson for Joycine's of Macon and The Medical Center of Central Georgia Physical Therapy Department for (15) plus years. In 1969, she met Alvie Coes Jr. of Dooly County while he was an apprentice working in a local funeral home. On December 19, 1970, they joined in holy matrimony. They both continued to work in the church and serving the community in many ways.
In 1973, they moved to Jeffersonville, GA, where they co-founded and operated the Community Chapel Funeral Home. On December 5, 1974, their first child was born, Alvita Elizabeth Coes. This was a joyous time for the family. A few years later they moved back to Macon, GA. In 1983, they moved to Dooly County, Unadilla, GA, where established and operated Alvie Coes Funeral Home for the past 20 years. After moving to Unadilla, GA, she joined Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Pinehurst, GA, where she served as senior mission president, Sunday School teacher, pastor's aid, program committee and in many other areas where needed. She was a school bus driver with the Dooly County Board of Education, substitute teacher, employed with the University of Georgia/ Dooly County 4-H as a certified program assistant. This was her heart, helping children be what they can be. She was a member of the Dooly County NAACP where she served as treasurer, Dooly County Planning & Zoning Board, American Cancer Society Board, Keep Vienna Beautiful Comm., Vice Chairman of Unadilla Housing Authority, Citizens Bank Advisory Committee, Downtown Development Authority, Dooly County Recreation Board, the Georgia Union Missionary Baptist Association, Women Auxiliary Department, Georgia Union First District, field worker for the association, Sunday school and BTU Congress, The Association Witness March, Dooly County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and worked as a poll worker for the Dooly County Election Board. She helped sponsor and support many civic and social charities including St. Jude Hospital for Children. She was the co-owner and secretary of Alvie Coes Funeral Home, Unadilla, GA. She was recognized as Who's Who in Georgia by then Lt. Gov. Pierre Howard and in 2001, honored as Professional Woman of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce.
Liz was a lovable and outgoing person. No one was a stranger to her. She tried to help anyone in need, always going that extra mile in her service. She lived a respectable life with her family whom she loved very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sarah Redd Troutman; two brothers, Hayward Redd Jr. and James Redd.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, a loving husband, Alvie Coes Jr.; two beautiful children, Alvita Elizabeth Coes and Master Alvie Coes III, both of Unadilla, GA; a loving sister, Doretha (Lynn) Ross of Stone Mountain, GA; a devoted brother, the Rev. Dennis (Denise) Redd of Powder Springs, GA; a host of devoted nieces and nephews; three uncles, Marvin Brown of Jeffersonville, GA, Dennis Brown of New Jersey and John Hobgood of Columbus, Ohio; three aunts, Essie B. Walls and Gladys Hobgood, both of Columbus, Ohio, and Irene Brown of Jeffersonville, GA; a loving godmother, Gassie Tenes of Vienna, GA; other sisters and brothers-in-law, Qwendolyn Redd of Atlanta, GA, Mr. and Mrs. John (Earlene) Lester of Vienna, GA, and the Rev. and Mrs. Eddie L. (Margaret) Burnette of San Antonio, Texas; a host of cousins, other relatives and many, many sorrowing and beloved friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday in the Dooly County High School Gymnasium in Vienna, GA, at noon.
The family will receive friends at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Pinehurst, GA, today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.
The body will be placed in the gymnasium Saturday at 10 a.m. Repast and fellowship will be in the high school cafeteria after the service.
