ALBANY - George Walter "Gee" Butler, 59, of Rt. 1, Box 885, Newton, died Friday, February 28, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Second Mount Zion Baptist Church with Brother Jesse Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Randolph County, Mr. Butler was formerly employed at Firestone Tire Company and later was a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Williams Butler, of Newton; a daughter, Shanda White of Atlanta; a son, George R. (Sharon) Butler of Atlanta; his mother, Dosha Jones Cooper of Newton; three grandchildren, Aaron White, Takshia Butler and Brandon Butler of Atlanta.

ALBANY - G. Douglas Collins Jr., 96, died Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at his residence.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Camilla. Dr. Joe Beauchamp will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Born November 23, 1906, at Flint Community, Mr. Collins was the son of Addie Lee (Martin) and George Douglas Collins Sr. In 1929, he received a BS in Agriculture degree from the University of Georgia, where he was a member of Alpha Zeta, honorary fraternity. He earned a Master's in Agricultural Economics from the University of Tennessee in 1932. He married the former Hazel Rebecca Swearingen of Robertson County, Tennessee, on September 11, 1945, in Nashville, Tennessee. For over thirty years, Mr. Collins was a statistician with the USDA Crop Reporting Service, working in Knoxville, Raleigh, Washington, and Nashville.
Upon his retirement in 1964, he returned to Mitchell County with his wife and daughters, where he was an early participant in managed tree farming. He was a member of First Baptist Church which he served as treasurer for 23 years, was a deacon, and a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
He is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Seth Harp of Midland; daughter and son-in-law, Anne Douglas Collins and Bruce Crauder of Stillwater, OK; brother and sister-in-law, Marion and Ann Collins of Camilla; sister-in-law, Maxine Collins of Americus; four grandchildren, Mary Rebecca Harp of Houston, Texas, Leslee Harp Shannon and her husband, Stephen of Dallas, Texas, Douglas Collins Crauder and Robert "Robbie" Collins Crauder of Stillwater, OK, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, his parents, sister, Laurie Marion Collins and brothers, Julian Walden Collins and William Martin Collins.

ALBANY - Lois Worthy Banks Forrester, 95, of Tucker, formerly of Leesburg, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Meddow Brook Nursing Home in Tucker.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church of Leesburg. The interment service will held at the Georgetown Cemetery in Georgetown, GA, at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Bobby Harrell will officiate.
A native of Quitman, GA, Mrs. Forrester had lived in Georgetown for over forty years before moving to Leesburg in 1950. She had since moved to Tucker, GA, several years ago. Mrs. Forrester was a member of First Baptist Church of Leesburg and the Agape Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace R. Forrester.
Survivors include two daughters, Mabel B. Williamson of Tucker, GA, and Carolyn B. Harris of Ft. Worth, TX; six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

ALBANY - Lucy Mae Haley-Rushin, 94, of 125-B Merritt Street died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Second Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Albany with interment in Floral Memory Garden Cemetery. The Rev. Lorenzo Heard will officiate.
Born March 31, 1908, in Mitchell County, Mrs. Haley-Rushin was a homemaker. She attended Mitchell County public schools. She was a member of Greater Second Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school scholar and former member of the usher board.
Survivors include two daughters, Ida Mae Rushin and Dicy L. Hall, both of Albany; one son, Willie James Williams of Albany; one daughter-in-law, Josephine S. Williams of Albany; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The remains of Mrs. Haley-Rushin will lie-in-state at the church Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Born March 15, 1913, in Terrell County, Mrs. Harris-Gatewood was a homemaker. She attended Terrell County public schools. She was a member of Bible Way Baptist Church and the Golden Key Club.
Survivors include six daughters, Ada Smith, Bernice Kimbrough, Ruby M. Harris, Betty S. Weston, Bessie L. Jackson and Christine Roberts, all of Albany; three sons, Arlucious Jones, L.C. Harris and Jessie J. Harris, all of Albany; one brother, Dewitt Harris of Sebrings, Fla.; 39 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

ALBANY - Richard Alvin Jones, 78, of 609 South Jackston Street, died Thursday, February 27, 2003, at Palmyra Medical Centers.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater Second Mount Olive Baptist Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. Darrell Leggett will officiate.
A native of Grady County, Mr. Jones was a graduate of Monroe High School and attended Albany State (College) University. He had retired after 33 years of employment at Marine Corps Logistics Base in March of 1998. He was a member of C.K. Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and Boy Scout leader for more than 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia Alfreda Hudson Jones of Albany; two daughters, Christola Z. Jackson of Albany and the Rev. Felecia M. Jones of Richmond, VA; two sons, Riccardo A. Jones of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Michael H. LITHIA SPRINGS - Carmel McGee, 83, of Lithia Springs, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003.
Mrs. McGee was a graduate of Brenau College and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She was a member of Peachtree Baptist and Briarlake Baptist Churches in Atlanta, and Byne Memorial Baptist Church in Albany.
She is survived by son Doug Hickman of Lawrenceville; daughter, Cheryl Collins of Medway, MA; stepsons, Dr. Dan McGee of Abilene, TX, Johnny McGee of Villa Rica; stepdaughters, Esther Cloud of Lithia Springs, Myra Marshall of Franklin, TN, and Edy Yarborough of San Antonio, TX; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at White Columns Chapel, Lithia Springs, with the Rev. Gene McGee and Dr. Dan McGee officiating. Interment will be at 4 p.m. at Peachtree Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Saturday.

COLQUITT - Peggy S. Conner, 68, of Arlington died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at Calhoun Memorial Hospital.

Born March 31, 1934, in Monticello, Fla., Mrs. Conner was a member of Arlington Baptist Church and was the owner of Conner Insurance Agency in Arlington. She authored the book, "History of Arlington Baptist Church." She was a member of the Arlington Garden Club, the Daughters of the Revolution, Arlington Woman's Club, and the Toali Campfire Council. She was a dedicated civic worker and served on the Arlington Centennial Celebration Committee and the Arlington Recreation Council. She also participated in Boy Scout activities and the Arlington May Day festivities. Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Stewart.
Survivors include her husband, L. Mitchell Conner Jr. of Arlington; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Conner Lee and Larry Lee of Fayetteville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leon M. and Pam Conner III of Arlington and Gregory Stewart and Cindy Conner of Blakely; sister and brother-in-law, Jean Stewart Taylor and Charles Taylor of Destin, FL; sister-in-law, Ann Stewart of Colquitt; four grandchildren, Meagan Elizabeth Lee, Rebecca Lynn Conner, Benjamin Mitchell Conner and Gregory Canton Conner; and a number of nieces and nephews.

UNADILLA - Funeral services for Valdivielso "Val" Kinchens of Unadilla will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Lynwood Baptist Church in Pulaski County. Burial will be private. Mr. Kinchens, 47, died Monday, March 3, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Kinchens was a native of Dooly County. He attended Dooly County schools and had been employed as a custodian with the school system. He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church.
