ALBANY - Earnie Lee Byrd-Johnson, 83, of 403-B Miller Road, Leesburg, died Saturday, October 19, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Albany with interment in Greater United Pleasant Green Baptist Church Cemetery in Lee County. The Rev. Dr. Daniel Simmons, pastor, and the Rev. Joseph Howard will officiate.
A native of Lee County, Mrs. Byrd-Johnson was a homemaker. She attended Lee County public schools. She was a member of the Golden Key Club, Slater King Adult Day Health Center and Greater United Pleasant Green Baptist Church where the Rev. E.B. Washington is the pastor.
She is survived by four loving and devoted daughters, Ethel J. (Raymond) Redmon of Albany, Jeanette Johnson and Annie J. (Kennedy) Burks of Detroit, MI, and Anne Johnson Byrd of Leesburg; seven devoted sons, the Rev. A.L. Johnson of Leesburg, the Rev. Jack (Sandra) Johnson Sr. of Edison, the Rev. Dock Amos (Eurilee) Johnson of Jamaica Queens, N.Y., Raymond Johnson of Detroit, MI, Joseph Johnson of Albany, Milton James (Yvonne) Johnson Sr. of Ypsilanti, MI, Emanuel J. (Faye) Johnson of Albany; one brother, Willie James (Caretha) Byrd of Jacksonville, Fla.; 66 beautiful grandchildren; 134 adorable great-grandchildren; 10 wonderful great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends; one sister-in-law, Annie Mae Byrd of Tampa, Fla.
Visitation will be held at Greater United Pleasant Green Baptist Church located at 1512 Philema Road (2 and 1/2 miles north of Chehaw Park) today from 7 p.m.-8 p.m.

SYLVESTER - Elizabeth Yarbrough Carr, 74, of 315 Lakeview Drive, Sylvester, died Monday, October 21, 2002, at her residence.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Northside Baptist Church with interment in Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Cooper and the Rev. Jimmy Voyles will officiate.
A native of Turner County, Mrs. Carr had lived in Worth County since 1962. She was formerly employed with Suburban Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Ann Eure of Norman Park and Wanda Adams of Sylvester; two sons, Tommy Watley of Columbus and Kenny Carr of Dallas, Ga.; one sister, Faye Arnold of Sycamore; three brothers, Herbert Yarbrough and Quinton Yarbrough, both of Sycamore, and C.S. Yarbrough of Acworth; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Carr on July 22, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Walter Scott and Nellie Lee Dryden Yarbrough.

A native of Leary, Mr. Futch had lived in Lee County a number of years. He retired after 39 years with Norfolk Southern Railroad as an engineer. He was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church where he was a deacon and worked with the youth.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Watkins Futch, of Leesburg; three sons, Steve Futch and his wife Michelle, Jeff Futch and his wife Kelly, and Kevin Futch, all of Leesburg; four grandchildren, Holli, Stephanie, Bret, and Hunter; two brothers, Roy Futch of Leesburg and John Futch of Thomasville; three sisters, Polly Shaw of Albany, Mary Weir of Donalsonville, and Francis Person of Slidell, LA.

Mrs. Mallory was a native of Miller County, but had lived in Albany for a number of years. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church and the Eva Laws Sunday School Class. Mrs. Mallory was a homemaker.
Survivors include her two sons, Don DuBose and his wife Linda of Albany, and Billy DuBose and his wife Martha of Sylvester; eight grandchildren, Mark Phillips, Kim Keaton, Todd DuBose, Keith DuBose, Angie Robison, Kellie Duke, Matt DuBose, and Adam DuBose; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mallory was preceded in death by her husbands, John B. DuBose and Clinton D. Mallory and two sons, John DuBose and Gerald Lee DuBose.

A native of Lexington, KY, Mr. Ringo had lived in Albany for 10 months where he was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church. Mr. Ringo served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a graduate of Valdosta State University and Florida State University where he received his Doctorate degree.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita M. Ringo of Albany, GA; two sons, Joseph Collis Ringo III of Jefferson, GA, and Jody Cornwell of Tallahassee, FL; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Marty Branaman of Henderson, KY.

FLORENCE, S.C. - Lois Marie Slote Starrett, 84, of 2317 W. McCown Drive, Florence, S.C., died Monday, October 21, 2002, at her residence after an illness.
Mrs. Starrett was born in Lancaster, PA, a daughter of the late Horace H. and Anna Mae Hambright Slote. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the W.M.U. She and husband were former residents of Albany, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Henry Starrett, who died in 1982.
Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Gary L. Starrett and his wife, Sandra of Byron, GA, and Craig Leroy Starrett and his wife, Lynn of Columbia, S.C.; two brothers, Vincent H. Slote of St. Petersburg, FL, and Glenn Richard Slote of Biloxi, Miss.; five grandchildren.

OPELIKA, Ala. - William Carten Cordell II, 51, of Auburn, Ala., died Monday, October 21, 2002, at his residence.

A native of Montgomery, Ala., Mr. Cordell graduated from Lanier High School in Montgomery in 1969. He graduated from Auburn University in 1973 with a business degree and in 1977 with an ADS degree. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Auburn. Mr. Cordell worked with Regions Bank in Dothan and Columbus as a commercial lender. He also worked as a commercial lender and loan officer at SunTrust Banks in Albany, GA, Columbus, GA, and Atlanta, GA. He was a member of the Jeff Davis Batter Reenacting Unit.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Butler Cordell of Auburn, Ala.; daughter, Elizabeth Ryan Cordell of Auburn, Ala.; two sons, William Carten Cordell III and Daniel Butler Cordell, both of Auburn, Ala.; three sisters, Kathryn Thornton of Charlottesville, VA, Judith Paul of Alabaster, Ala., and Jannette Cordell of Montgomery, Ala.; two brothers, Robert Cordell of Pintlala, Ala., and John Cordell of Montgomery, Ala.
