Mrs. White attended the public schools of Terrell County, GA. She was a housewife.

Peters, Evonne (Albert) Powell, Moses (Rushie Bell) White, all of Dawson, GA, and Elijah "Sonny" (Vern) White of Dania, FL; two sons-in-law, Ernest Jackson of Dawson, GA, and Thomas Threats of Providence, RI; three sisters-in-law, Mattie Pickett of Dawson, GA, Louise Pickett of Miami, FL, and Mary Grier of Lumpkin, GA, one brother-in-law, Kenneth White of New York, NY; five special friends of the family, Sharon Jones of Albany, GA, Walter Lee Davis of Clewiston, FL, Leonce Moreau of Ft. William P. Birchfield
ALBANY - William P. (Bill) Birchfield, 83, of 1410 10th Ave. in Albany died Thursday, October 24, 2002, at Palmyra Medical Centers.
The funeral service will be today 11 A.M. at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Tony Haefs officiating.
A native of Chambers Co., AL, Mr. Birchfield had lived in Albany most of his life where he was a member of Gillionville Baptist Church, retired as chief engineer of K-Country and the Johnny Reb radio station. He was past-commander of American Legion Post 30, he was post Adju for 13 years and also was past Chef de Gare of Post 40 & 8. Mr. Birchfield served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Trudy Birchfield of Albany, GA; three daughters, Linda (Rhett) Iler of LaVista, NE, Deborah (Bert) Miller of Milton, FL, Cyndi (Jon) Bell of Pensacola, FL; one son, Randy (Virginia) Flick of Albany, GA; four grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Eunice Saines of Columbus, GA.
Mr. Birchfield was preceded in death by a grandson, Shawn Eugene Mortland.

Suzanne M. Shingler Fowler
DONALSONVILLE - Suzanne M. Shingler Fowler, 54, of Albany passed away Thursday, October 24, 2002, at her residence.
The funeral services will be held Sunday, October 27, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville with interment in Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA, with the Rev. Henry Irwin and the Rev. Jerry Lott. Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA.
Mrs. Fowler was born in Dougherty County, GA, on May 5, 1948, to the late Morrison P. and Marveen Mizelle Hall Shingler. She was a photographer for The Albany Herald for a number of years. She represented The United Press in this area and won several photography awards from The United Press. She raised exotic animals and Kiko goats. She was the founder and first president of the Georgia Ostrich Association, as well as being very active in the Kiko Goat Association.
She is survived by her husband Wayne Fowler of Albany; two brothers, William M. (Bill) Shingler Sr. and Dell of Donalsonville, GA, and Morrison P. Shingler Jr. and Angie of Perry, FL; a sister, Caroline Kicklighter and Charlie of Macon, GA; two special nephews, Billy and Jim Shingler of Donalsonville, GA; four stepsons, Kevin Fowler of Atlanta, GA, Scott Fowler and Melisa of Kingsport, Tenn., David Fowler and Ruth of Dunwoody, GA, and Todd Fowler and Delia of Tallahassee, FL; and one stepdaughter, Elizabeth Fowler of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers will be Graham Culliford, David Fowler, Todd Fowler, John Thompson, Billy Shingler and Jim Shingler.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 305, Donalsonville, GA 39845.

James Robert O'Hare Sr.
ALBANY - James Robert O'Hare Sr., 85, of Albany, died Wednesday, October 23, 2002, at his residence.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Teresa's Catholic Church with interment in Floral Memory Gardens. The Rev. Finbarr Stanton officiated.
A native of Durham, NC, Mr. O'Hare served six years in the US Navy, 14 years in the US Air Force and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict, retiring at Turner Air Force Base. He worked with civil service and retired after 16 years of employment. He was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church for over 40 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the local YMCA.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Renzo O'Hare of Albany; two sons, James Robert O'Hare Jr. and wife Betty of Albany and Michael Anthony O'Hare of Leesburg; two daughters, Barbara O'Hare White and husband Roger of Albany, and Patricia O'Hare Taylor and husband Dwight of Gardendale, AL; seven grandchildren, Jamie Holland, David O'Hare, Derrek White, Kelly Taylor Prang, Todd White, Holly White, Kendall Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Prang and Abigal Prang; brother, Leo O'Hare of Burlington, NC.

Alan Edward Shaw
SYLVESTER - Alan Edward Shaw, 63, died Wednesday, October 23, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA, from injuries suffered in an accident.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Banks Funeral Chapel with cremation to follow.
Mr. Shaw was born February 16, 1939, in North Weymouth, Mass., to Carleton Ford Shaw and Madeline Vivian (Means) Shaw. Besides North Weymouth, Mr. Shaw lived in Rockland Houghs Neck, Rutland, Jefferson, Brookfield and North Brookfield, where he resided for 32 years before moving with his parents to Georgia.
Mr. Shaw was educated at the Upsala Street School, Worcester, Mass., public schools in Jefferson, Brookfield and North Brookfield, Mass., and graduated from The American School for the Deaf, West Hartford, Conn. He had received a Certificate of Participation Award from Lions Learning Rehabilitation and Independent Living Center and a Personal Achievement Award from AARC. He managed the Lashaway Tepee Gift Shop, East Brookfield, Mass., and later ran Shaw's Portable Appliance Store, North Brookfield, Mass. Mr. Shaw was a talented woodworker and artist until prevented by muscular dystrophy.
A resident of Sylvester, GA, for 20 years, Mr. Shaw was a familiar sight around town as he visited friends in his motorized wheelchair. He was loved by all who knew him for his cheerful outgoing personality, his humor, kindness and independent spirit. Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his parents and his aunt, Natalie (Means) Hall of San Diego, CA. He leaves two sisters, Jeannette K. Shaw-Lynch, Fargo, ND, and Laurel T. Shaw Leslie, West Brookfield, MA; two nieces, Kara (Lynch) Dalton (Ian), North Grafton, MA, and Erin (Lynch) Cooper (William), Aberfoyle, Scotland; a nephew, Derek A. Lynch (Susan Schwan), Osseo, MN; two grandnephews, Jack and Jordan Dalton; a grandniece, Rachel Cooper; cousins, Mike and Georgia Bronson, Lake Jackson, GA; Phillip Hall and Candy McFall, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Lance and Linda Hall, Richardson, TX.

Marie Dean Smith
ALBANY - Marie Dean Smith of Albany, GA, died Thursday evening, October 24, 2002, at the residence of Dr. Duncan and Deborah Marsh.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Nancy Scarbrough and the Rev. Nathan Godley will officiate.
Mrs. Smith graduated from Auburn University with a degree in music education. She taught sophomore English at Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery, AL, for 10 years and was also employed as a band director at Bellingraph and Baldwin Junior High Schools. Mrs. Smith was the first female band director in the state of Alabama. Her principal instruments were the oboe and bassoon. Mrs. Smith had also served as a social worker with the Alabama State Board of Pensions and Security. Upon her retirement, Mrs. Smith had lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Dr. Duncan Marsh for the past 21 years. She was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church. She was married to the late Elno A. Smith Jr. of Montgomery, AL, for 28 years.
Survivors include three other daughters, Denise Smith Rosen of Land O'Lakes, FL, Daphne Smith Guy and husband Bob of Birmingham, AL, and Dr. DeMoi Smith Crawford of Silverhill, AL; granddaughters, Stacey Strickland of Orlando, FL, Yvonne Hargrove of San Francisco, CA, Amie Marsh-McCook and husband Jody of Athens, GA, and Lauren Crawford of Silverhill, AL; grandsons,Michael Crawford of Silverhill, AL, and Adam Rosen of Land O'Lakes, FL.
The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Home Sunday from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m.
