DAWSON - Lula Mae Woodards, 85, of 906 Madison Street, Albany, GA, died Saturday, October 26, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Beulahland Missionary Baptist Church in Dawson, GA. The Rev. Lanorris Dixon, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery, Dawson, GA.
Lula attended the public schools of Terrell County, GA. She was employed as a housekeeper for Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cruikshank for a number of years.
Mrs. Woodards was preceded in death by her husband, G.G. Woodards. Left to cherish her memories are three first cousins, Frances Ravon and Martha Dublin, both of Albany, GA, and David Jennings Jr. of Newark, N.J. A second cousin, Anna Ree Sheffield of Dawson, GA., and a host of friends and loved ones.

ALBANY - Frank Deming, 51, of 3104 Treeline Lane died Tuesday, October 29, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA, following a brief illness.
The funeral service will be Thursday, 2 P.M. at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery at Albany, GA. The Rev. Nathan Godley and the Rev. Nancy Scarbrough will officiate.
A graduate of Valdosta High School, Florida State University and The Stonier School of Banking, Rutgers University, Mr. Deming had lived in Albany for the past 28 years. He was a financial planner for Merrill Lynch at the time of his death. Active in community affairs, Mr. Deming was a member of the Dougherty County Rotary Club, Leadership Albany and worked with the American Heart Association. Mr. Deming served on the Deerfield-Windsor Board of Trustees, which he chaired in 1999, as well as the Albany Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors.
A member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church, Mr. Deming served on the Pastor-Parish Committee, the Administrative Board and the Finance Committee, which he formerly chaired. He was also a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class and a former member of the Board of Trustees.
Mr. Deming's father is the late Lionel E. Deming.
Survivors include his wife, Harriette Cooper Deming of Albany; son, Zack Cameron Deming of Athens; daughter, Meredith McCree Deming of Athens; mother, Caroline T. Deming of Valdosta; sister, Kay Deming of Atlanta.

ALBANY - Ruth C. DesJardines, of Albany, died Tuesday, October 29, 2002, at Phoebe Worth Hospital. The remains have been cremated.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kimbrell-Stern. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, New Rochelle, NY, at a later date.
Born December 5, 1907, in Brooklyn, NY, she was retired as an executive secretary with Standard Container Corporation in Montclair, NJ. After retiring, she lived in Clearwater, FL, for several years. She moved to Albany in 2000.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Mary DesJardines of Albany; three grandchildren, Lawrence DesJardines Jr., David DesJardines and Ellen DesJardines; eight great-grandchildren, Erin, Megean, Jessie, Peggy, Maria, Samantha, Mary and Ruth; her longtime friend, Mildred Stanley of Albany. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. DesJardines.
The family will receive friends following the funeral service.

SYLVESTER - Edgar L. (Big'un) Flowers, 78, of 819 South Main Street, Sylvester, died Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church with interment in Hillcrest Cemetery. Dr. Dan Williamson will officiate.
A native of Worth County, Mr. Flowers was the owner/ operator of Big'uns Drive In for many years. He was a foreman of construction in building the Sylvester Elementary, Holley and Sumner schools in the mid 1950's. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of A.B.A.C.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Hatcher Flowers of Sylvester; daughter and her husband, Lila F. and Neal Barrett of Newnan; son and his wife, Earl and Denise J. Flowers of Jackson, Ala.; three sisters, Elynr Faircloth of Moultrie, Osie Mae Grimes of Sylvester and Mary Kate McLeod of Darien; five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Earl and Osie Alma Jones Flowers.

SYLVESTER - James Hadden, 66, of 143 Reese Drive, Sylvester, died Monday, October 28, 2002, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 6 p.m. today at his residence, with cremation to follow. The Rev. Dorsia A. Atkinson Jr. and the Rev. Eurl E. Hand will officiate.
A native of Soperton, Mr. Hadden was born August 24, 1936. He had lived in Worth County since 1980 and was formerly employed with Worth County Public Works Department as a heavy equipment operator. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and had served in the Air Force. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Jamie L. Hadden of Sylvester; three sons, James A. Wininger, Robert L. Wininger, and Tommy D. Wininger, all of Sylvester; four daughters, Debi Checketts, Jennifer Hadden Childs, Tanya Paramore and Nikki D. Wininger, all of Sylvester; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The remains will be at the residence where the family will receive friends.

ALBANY - William "Bill" Kenneth Lockhart, 67, of Hiawassee, GA, formerly of Albany, died Saturday, October 26, 2002, at his residence.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, 11 A.M. at Kimbrell-Stern. Interment will be in Pine Forest Baptist Church Cemetery in Sumner, GA. The Rev. Dan Robinson will officiate.
A native of Guin, AL, Mr. Lockhart served twenty years in the Military Police in US Air Force, retiring in Albany. He worked with the Dougherty County Sheriffs Office as jailer, patrolman and investigator. He worked security for Roses Stores Inc., Rosenbergs, and Gayfers Department Store. He had a black belt in Judo, taught classes in self-defense and did private investigations. He was a Mason.

DAWSON - Thomas Allen Arnold Sr. of Ft. Gaines, formerly of Dawson, died at his residence on Tuesday, October 29, 2002.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Ft. Gaines with the Rev. Walter Flint officiating. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Dawson.
Mr. Arnold was a native of Terrell County, born February 7, 1916, son of the late Howard L. Arnold and the late Nettie Allen Arnold of Parrott. He graduated from Parrott High School in 1932, and attended Georgia Teacher's College in Statesboro. He served as a Second Lt. in the U.S. Army in World War II.
He owned and operated Terrell Cleaners for several years after the war and became affiliated with R.D. Smith Insurance Agency, July 1, 1955, purchasing the business several years later. He worked for many years in the agency and became well known in the industry across Georgia. He was a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia, served as president in 1961-62, and received the prestigious Gus Naumen Award for outstanding service as an agent.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Gaines, a member and past-president of the Dawson Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow and a member and past president of the Georgia Southern University Athletic Alumni Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn Chapman Arnold, of Dawson.
Survivors include his wife, Lanell Harrell Arnold of Ft. Gaines; a son, Thomas Allen "Tommy" Arnold Jr. of Atlanta; a daughter, Kathy Arnold Wade of Parrott; a brother, H. Arnold, DDS MS of Albany; six grandchildren, Shelton Arnold Greene of Nashville, TN, Ashley Arnold Grabow of Saratoga, WO; Heather Arnold Davis of Columbus, Whitney Arnold Trino of Duluth, Lindsay Wade and Edward Wade, both of Parrott; and three great-grandchildren.

MOULTRIE - Lexie Juanita Folsom Dorminey, 88, of Ellenton died Tuesday, October 29, 2002, surrounded by her family in the house in which she was born.
Funeral services will be held Friday at Buck Creek Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Andy Croft and the Rev. Jon McCranie officiating, with burial at Buck Creek Cemetery.
She was born on September 27, 1914, in Colquitt County to the late Sallie Baker Folsom and Nathan W. Folsom. Mrs. Dorminey had lived in Colquitt County all of her life.
Mrs. Dorminey was a retired educator, having taught or served as principal for 39 years in Colquitt County Schools. She served her community in many ways: Tax Counseling for the Elderly, 15 years; Colquitt County Retired Teachers Association Member and All Offices, 27 years; Retired Teachers Association Area II Directors, four years; Buck Creek Baptist Church Clerk, 30 years; and Colquitt County Baptist Association Secretary, two years.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Lloyd Dorminey; a daughter, Dr. Julia Dorminey of Americus; a son, Lex Dorminey and his wife, Debbie Dorminey of Albany; and a daughter, Sally Dorminey and her husband, Ernie Moman of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Jennifer Dorminey, Ashley Dorminey, Sarah Moman and Nathan Moman; a sister, Mildred Mullis of Ellenton; a brother, Sidney Folsom and wife, Phyllis Folsom of Cordele; a sister-in-law, Mae Folsom of Norman Park; and a close friend, Barbara Willeby. Her brother, Hilton Folsom, precedes her in death.
