DAWSON - Carey Jackson, 83, formerly of Sasser, GA, died Saturday, October 26, 2002, at Georgia War Veteran's Home in Milledgeville, GA.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2002, at Countyline Missionary Baptist Church, Sasser, GA. Bishop W.J. Toomer will officiate. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
Mr. Jackson attended the public schools of Terrell County, GA. He served in World War II and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Telfair, of Orlando, FL; four nieces, Sharon Lynn Jackson and Nadine Johnson, both of Albany, GA, Aileen Blackshear of Dawson, GA, and Celestine Risby (Frank) of Ft. Valley, GA; three nephews, Roderick (Carrie) Jackson of Dawson, GA, Ralph Jackson of Albany, GA, Harvey Jackson (Viola) of Columbus, GA; a Godson, Lasey Norwood of Douglas, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

BAINBRIDGE - C. Frances Rich, 83, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., died Tuesday, October 29, 2002, in Perry.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church in Bainbridge with interment in Oak City Cemetery in Bainbridge. Pastor Robert Baggs will officiate.
The active pallbearers will be Bob Rich, Joe Rich, Billy English, Derry Cannon, Rusty Simpson and Ben Lee.
Miss Rich was born October 22, 1919, in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Robert Lloyd Rich Sr. and Cecil Harrell Rich. She graduated from Bainbridge High School and received a B.S. in physical education from the University of Georgia. She was a U.S. Navy Waves veteran of World War II and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a retired stock broker with Goodbody and Co. in Dallas, Texas, and had lived in Santa Rosa Beach, FL, since 1990.
Miss Rich was an avid golfer. She was the Ladies Golf Amateur Champion in Georgia in 1953 and later she was the Ladies Golf Amateur Champion in Texas. She served on the Senior Women's Committee for the U.S. Golf Association, was a member of the Women's Southern Golf Association, Past President of the Georgia Women's Golf Association, and a member of the American Red Cross, and the Legionnaires. She was a member of the Santa Rosa Beach Golf Club and the Trillium Links and Lake Club in Cashiers, N.C.
Survivors include her brother, Jack G. Rich of Tallahassee, FL. She was considered to be the matriarch of her nieces and nephews, which consisted of nine nieces and nephews, 17 great-nieces and great-nephews, and six great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

DONALSONVILLE - John Ritchie, age 80, of Iron City, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 1, at 11 a.m., at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville with interment in the Corinth Cemetery in Iron City, GA, with the Rev. Jim Houseal and the Rev. Ramon Hernandez officiating. Visitation will be 5 p.m.-7 p.m. today at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA.
Mr. Ritchie was born in Early County on February 8, 1922, to the late Joe and Mae Conner Ritchie. He married Mildred Smith nearly 57 years ago and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Iron City United Methodist Church in Iron City, GA, and also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Smith Ritchie, of Iron City; four daughters, Barbara and (L.J.) Miller of Brinson, GA, Carolyn and (Kevin) Clancey of Athens, GA, Connie and (Billy) Barber of Bonaire, GA, Sharon and (Bruce) Phillips of Donalsonville, GA; three sisters, Frances Brown and Doris Ritchie of Ozark, AL, and Martha Leiberman of New York. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

SYLVANIA - Mills A. Daughtry, 81, of Sylvania, died Wednesday morning, October 30, 2002, in Screven County Hospital.
He was born in Screven County, GA, and lived there all his life. He was a member of Sylvania First Christian Church, served as a school crossing guard with the Sylvania Police Department, worked with Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home, and was retired from the Torrington Company, Sylvania Plant, Security Department.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva Lariscy Daughtry of Sylvania; a daughter, Faye D. Raines of Albany; two granddaughters and sons-in-law, Cindy Raines and Kip Adams of Newnan, GA, and Julie Raines and Keith Chandler of Albany; four great-grandsons, Thomas Keith Chandler Jr. and Taylor Daughtry Chandler both of Albany, Blake Kipling Adams and Mills Davis Adams both of Newnan; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Daughtry will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Minister George Pevey and Emory Alloways officiating. Burial will be in the Screven County Memorial Cemetery.

ALBANY - Dr. Noble passed away Thursday, October 17, 2002, in New York City. Funeral services were held at The Church of the Ascension in New York City on October 26, 2002.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at The Episcopal Church of St. John and St. Mark in Albany.
Dr. Jeanne Laveta Noble, the eldest child and only daughter of Floyd G. Noble and Aurelia P. Noble was born on July 18, 1926, in Albany, GA. She went on to become a scholar, authority on higher education and a civic leader who made pioneering contributions to women's organizations and the arts. Her educational career began under the tutelage of her grandmother in the public schools of Albany, GA. A graduate of Howard University, Jeanne received her masters and doctorate in education from Columbia University and completed additional studies at the University of Birmingham in England.
Dr. Noble is survived by two brothers, John (Barbara) Noble Sr. of St. Louis, MO, and William (Alma) Noble of Albany, GA; four nephews; two nieces; three great nephews,; three great nieces and other relatives and extended family members.

ALBANY - Lt. Samuel Clark Perkins, 55, died Monday, October 28, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday from the sanctuary of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Albany where the Rev. Daniel Simmons is the pastor and the Rev. Edward J. Heath will officiate.
Lt. Perkins was the son of the late John Flood and Willie B. Monds. He was joined in Holy matrimony on January 6, 1978, in Waycross, to Cynthia A. Perkins. He was educated in the public schools of Dougherty County, Albany State University and Georgia Southern University. He had worked for Albany Technical College, the Albany Police Department (retired), Albany State College, Dougherty County School System, Waycross School System, Bacon County School System, Harambee Child Development and Sears.
In addition to his loving and devoted wife of 24 years, survivors include five daughters, Samantha Perkins Washington (George) of Alma, Pamela A. Willis, U.S. Army, Fort Stewart, Jalyn N. Willis of Albany, Vanessa M. Willis and Tracy J. Hollmon, both of Marietta; one granddaughter, Shania Washington of Alma; four brothers, Edward Monds (deceased), John Flood (Dorothy), Willie Flood, Melvin Perkins; three sisters, Ida Brown (Thomas), Shirley Poole (George) and Ruby Perkins, all of Albany; one uncle, Benjamin Perkins (Mary) of Albany; one aunt, Alice Perkins of Tifton; a host of nieces, nephews and many sorrowing friends.

A native of Early County, Mrs. Webb-Holmes was a homemaker. She attended Tift Street School in Albany and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Willie C. Holmes of Albany; one sister, Lillie M. McDowell of Albany; five children, Shirley Williams (Milton) of Jonesboro, Rossia Rodriquez (Octavius) of Griffin, Jacqueline Hall (Russell) of Tampa, Fla., Mattie James (Roosevelt) of Albany, Tommy Holmes (Tracey) of Albany; two stepsons, Willie C.
