SYLVESTER - Jeanette Wages Brown, 89, of Bridgeboro died Friday, November 1, 2002, at Phoebe-Worth Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Banks Funeral Chapel with interment in Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Bobby J. Brown will officiate.
A native of Gwinnett County, Mrs. Brown had lived in Worth County most of her life. She was a homemaker and former member of the Home Demonstration Club and the Quilting Club of Bridgeboro. Mrs. Brown had a special talent with arranging flowers and enjoyed doing so for her church. She was a member of Bridgeboro Baptist Church where she was a former choir director and Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra B. Cochran of Macon; two sons, Donald and (Melba) Brown and Jimmy and (Muriel) Brown, both of Bridgeboro; nine grandchildren, Kelli C. Martin, Robert J. Cochran, Donna B. Crowe, Janet B. Hudson, Susan B. Varnadoe, Melanie B. Ivey, James Brown, Sherry Willis and Maurice Fitzgerald; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred A. Brown and parents, James Allen and Janie Wages.

ALBANY - The funeral service of William E. "Ed" Cohagan, 79, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Albany, GA, who died Monday, October 14, 2002, at his residence after a lengthy illness, was held at 2 p.m. October 17, 2002, at Harrell Funeral Home in Austin, Texas. The Rev. Don Long officiated. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2002, in Italy Cemetery in Italy, Texas.
Mr. Cohagan was a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 28 years of service. He was also a member of many philanthropic organizations including Albany Scottish Rite Bodies, Hasan Shrine Temple where he was a member of the Legion of Honor. He also served as commander of the Southeastern Legions of Honor in 1985.
He is survived by his wife, of 58 years, Helen; sons, Michael and wife, Mary and David and wife, Christie; daughter, Kathleen Rode and husband, Curtis; granddaughters, Audrey and Misty; grandson, Jason Hugendubler and sisters, Joann Miles and Virginia Ruth Perkins.

MARIETTA - Wayne Eugene Clark, 60, of Canton, GA, formerly of Albany, GA, died Thursday, October 31, 2002, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Medford-Peden Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Fowler officiating. Burial will be at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta.
A Dallas, GA, native, Wayne served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was awarded U.S.M.C. Good Conduct Medal and Rifleman's Marksmanship Medal. He lived in Albany, GA, before moving to Canton last year. He worked as an automobile salesman for Albany Lincoln Mercury, Albany, GA.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Wayne Clark of Woodstock, GA, and Garland Anthony Clark of Acworth, GA; three daughters, Nina Reid and Trina Frost, both of Canton, GA, and Ivy Savelle of Albany; two brothers, James E. Clark of Kennesaw, GA, and Thomas C. Clark of Chicago, IL; a sister, Phoebie Jean Ramsey of Atlanta; 12 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

CAMILLA - Byron Thomas Cooper, 66, of Pelham died Friday, November 1, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Wooten and the Rev. Franklin Russ will officiate.

Born January 18, 1936 in Mitchell County, Mr. Cooper was a Federal State Peanut Inspector and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mr. Cooper was the son of the late B.J. and Jewel Faircloth Cooper. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia Akridge, Doris Crosby and Jewel Moore; and three brothers, Deloyd Cooper, Charles (Dick) Cooper and Collis Cooper.
Survivors include his wife, Marzine R. Cooper of Pelham; a daughter, Rhonda Cooper of Pelham; a stepdaughter, Gloria Lowe of Cairo; three stepsons, Wayne Hurst of Pelham, Michael Hurst of Pelham and Billy Hurst of Pelham; five sisters, Flora Bell Singleton of Camilla, Mildred Barber of Greensboro, Fla., Louise Smith of Pelham, Jeanne Pollock Adams of Camilla and Margaret Bedsole of Havana, Fla.; a brother, Franklin D. CAMILLA - Dr. Clyde A. Stevenson Jr., 85, of 144 South Harney Street, Camilla, died Thursday, October 31, 2002, at Mitchell County Hospital.

A native of Camilla, Mitchell County, Dr. Stevenson was born September 5, 1917. His parents were the late Dr. Clyde A. Stevenson Sr. and Ruth Walker Stevenson. He was a retired dentist. Dr. Stevenson was an Army/Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Camilla United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Louise H. Stevenson of Camilla; son, David Stevenson of Atlanta; daughter, Mary Ryan of Burlington, NC; sister, Lucretia Watts of Hampton, VA; and four grandchildren.

Julian Webb
DONALSONVILLE - Judge Julian Webb, 91, of St. Simons Island, GA, formerly of Donalsonville, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2002, in St. Simons.
Funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Lott officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery.
Judge Webb was born in Dooly County, GA, on October 2, 1911, to the late Vester Ottis and Flossie Irene Woodruff Webb. He married the former Jo Smith September 25, 1935, in Donalsonville. A graduate of Valdosta High School, he was graduated from Mercer University with the AB and the LLB (J.D.) in 1932, and he received the honorary Doctorate of Law from Mercer in 1988. Judge Webb was named outstanding Alumnus of Walter F. George School of Law in 1997.
Judge Webb was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1932, and the Supreme Court of the Untied States in 1943. He served on the legal staff of Farm Credit Admin., Columbia, S.C., from 1933-1942. Judge Webb opened his law practice in Donalsonville in 1943. He served as the city attorney from 1945-1974 and was president of the City Attorneys of Georgia 1966/67. He served as the county attorney 1971-74 and again in 1985. He was several times president of the Pataula Circuit Bar, and served on the Georgia Disciplinary Board from 1964-1967. He was a member of the Atlanta Lawyers Club, a member of the Georgia Bar Foundation, a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a member of the American Judicature Society, and the American Law Institute. He was a delegate to the World Peace through Law Conference in Geneva, Switzerland in 1967 and in Washington, D.C. in 1975.
He was appointed by Gov. Jimmy Carter to the Court of Appeals of Georgia and elected Judge of the Court of Appeal of Georgia in 1974. He resigned as Presiding Judge of the Court of Appeals in 1979. He was the judge (pro bono) of the Juvenile Court of Seminole County in 1981, a member of the National Council State Court Representatives from 1975 to 1978 and chairman of the Judicial Council of Georgia 1978/79.
He was a member of the Georgia Senate from 1963 to 1974, serving as Assistant Floor Leader in 1963 and Floor Leader in 1964. He was Pres. Pro Tem of the Georgia Senate from 1967 to 1969 and a member of the Georgia Constitution Revision Commission in 1963 and 1969. Judge Webb served on the Governor's Judicial Processes Comm. from 1971 to 1973, the Criminal Law Study Comm. from 1972 to 1974 and the Governor's Comm. on Court Organization and Structure from 1975 to 1979.
Judge Webb was a faithful member of Friendship United Methodist Church of Donalsonville serving as a lay leader and chair of the Administrative Board and Chairman of Trustees. He was the Sunday School teacher of the Men's Bible class for over 45 years (class was named the Julian Webb Bible Class in 1983.) He was chairman of the Thomasville District Trustees, member of the Church Court of Appeals of the Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference, the organizer and President of Georgia Investment Corp. of the Methodist Church. He was one of the founders and many years chairman of Board of Trustees of Magnolia Manor at Americus, South Georgia Conference Methodist Home for Aging. Also he was a delegate to many annual conferences, to the Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference and to World Methodist Conference, London, England in 1966.
He was Pres. and Deputy Dist. Gov. of Lions Club, Director of Chamber of Commerce, and Citizen of the Year in 1984.
Judge Webb was a charter member and past Master of Seminole Masonic Lodge, past High Priest of Royal Arch Masons, member of the Knights Templar, the Scottish Rite Temple, past Potentate of Hasan Shrine Temple and past Director of Royal Order of Jesters.
He was the former owner and publisher of the Donalsonville News, former owner of Seminole Drug Co. and was engaged in farming for many years. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Chattahoochee Industrial Railroad.
Judge Webb was selected Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who in American Law. Arthur K. Bolton, former Attorney General of the State of Georgia, had these words to say about Judge Webb, "Judge Webb, while in the General Assembly, was very instrumental in securing passage of the present Appellate Court Retirement System of Georgia, and this did as much to strengthen our appellate judicial system in Georgia as anything done in recent history. He was not just a legislator, he was a statesman. He was not just a Judge of the Court of Appeals, but he was a jurist and a scholar."
Amidst all of the Judge's honors and accomplishments, he was first and foremost an adoring father, called "Fafa" of twin daughters, Joanna "Jody" Webb Custer and Julianna "Judy" Webb Cheshire of St. Simons Island.
Judge Webb is also survived by five grandchildren, Julie Custer Attman of St. Simons Island, Anna Cheshire Levitan of Boston, MA, Rob Cheshire of Austin, Texas, Clay Custer of Logan, Utah, and Webb Cheshire of St. Simons Island and eight great-grandchildren; one nephew, Jack Webb of Snellville and two grandnieces.

Jayne Powell Chapman
ST. SIMONS ISLAND -Jayne Powell Chapman of St. Simon Island died Saturday, October 26, 2002. She was born August 26, 1921, in Thomasville.
Jayne spent her early years in Albany attending Dougherty County schools and graduating from Albany High School. She continued her growing interest in church and religious work by attending Asbury College in Kentucky. She continued her interest in religious activities through the Christian Council of Women and later in Habitat for Humanity in Georgia and Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Chapman, who is buried in Atlanta. She is survived by her brother, Jack (Anita) Powell of Hoover, AL, and two sons, Larry (Cindy) Chapman of Safety Harbor, FL, and Alan Chapman of Ashville, NC, and five grandchildren.
Recently she resided in St. Simons Island. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2002, at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2002, at St. Simons By The Sea Methodist Church in St. Simons Island, GA.
