ALBANY - Phyllis Ann Duke, 53, of Fort Gaines, GA, died Saturday, November 9, 2002 in Albany.
The funeral service will be Tuesday 2 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern. The Rev. Frank Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Dawson.
A native of Colquitt County, GA, Mrs. Duke has lived in Fort Gaines for 10 years, and was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Givens of Fort Gaines; two daughters, Pam Taylor, her husband, Cleve and Shelia Wells, all of Leesburg; one son, Tony Duke of Albany; five grandchildren, Cayla, Candice, Daniel and Baby Boy Wells, Tiffany and Tyler Taylor; her mother, Wada Juanita Boyd of Newton; five sisters, Patsy McLeod and Marlene Smith, both of Newton, Onita Wilkerson and Darlene Eppley, both of Albany and Debra Bailey of Moultrie; three brothers, Jimmy and Larry Boyd of Moultrie and Clay Meeks of Dexter.
Mrs. Duke was preceded in death by her father, James Boyd Sr. of Moultrie.
The family will receive friends today (Monday) from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home, and will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Wilkerson, 414 Branch Road, Albany, GA 31705.

ALBANY - On November 9, 2002, Elizabeth Fraser McNamara, formerly of Decatur, GA, died at her home in Albany.
Mrs. McNamara had been a member of First Christian Church in Albany since 1989. She was a member of both Ruth Group and the Explorers Group; she also served as a deacon, was on the missions committee and was active in the prayer group. Prior to relocating in Albany, she was a member of Druid Hills Presbyterian Church in Decatur, GA. She had been active for many years in Beta Sigma Phi, NARFE, and Senior Friends at Palmyra.
Mrs. McNamara was predeceased by her husband, James McNamara, her sister, George Anna Fraser, and her two brothers, William Fraser and Keane Fraser. She is survived by a nephew, Robert Fraser of Decatur and two nieces, Patty Ann Hunlock of Douglasville, and Judy Fraser of New York City. She also leaves behind two goddaughters, Judge Carol Lougee of Madison, CT, and Pat Fleming of Nantucket, MA.
Services will be held at Kimbrell-Stern on Wednesday, 11 a.m. the Rev. Tommy Lowery officiating. Interment will be following in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday between the hours of 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

ALBANY - Charlotte Allen Van Ness, 89, died Saturday, November 9, 2002 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. The remains have been cremated.

SYCAMORE, GA - Services for Gerald Barnette, 76, of 5010 Bussey Road, Sycamore, GA, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Barnette died Sunday, November 10, 2002 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany after a short illness.
Mr. Barnette was a native and lifelong resident of Turner County, GA, the son of the late Erastus Jasper and Pauline Edwards Barnette. He was a farmer, businessman and a retired school bus driver for the Turner County Board of Education for 37 years. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and former church treasurer. He was the widow of the late Lottie Kendrick Barnette.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Barbara Barnette of Sylvester and Keith and Jill Barnette of Sycamore; a daughter and son-in-law, Jerilyn and Richard Griffin of Sycamore; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today (Monday) evening from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Henry Otis Morris
AMERICUS - Henry Otis Morris, 100, of 2001 South Lee St., Americus, died Saturday evening, November 9, 2002, at Sumter Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday from Shiloh Baptist Church with interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Revs. Hugh Harbort and Erskine Kale will officiate. Deacons of Shiloh Baptist Church will serve as active pallbearers, and members of the Men's Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Morris, a native and lifetime resident of Sumter County, was born September 12, 1902, a son of the late Henry J. Morris and Lucinda Veal Morris. His wife, Mrs. Ruth Coogle Morris, preceded him in death in 1976.
Mr. Morris was a very active member of Shiloh Baptist Church and all of its activities as long as his health permitted. He served as church treasurer for many years, participated in the outreached visitation program, brotherhood, and Sunday School, and served as a deacon. He was former farmer and later was employed by Pure Oil Company for which he made fuel deliveries to farmers.
The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. today (Monday). At other times, friends may call at the residence of Herschel and Flossie Morris, 117 Lake Jennifer Drive, Americus.

ALBANY - Charles Patrick Bradley, 54, died Sunday, November 10, 2002, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
The funeral service will be Wednesday 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Putney with interment in Desoto Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. David Benton and the Rev. Nancy Scarbrough officiating.
Born in Americus, Mr. Bradley had lived in Albany most of his life, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Putney. He was a 1996 graduate of Dougherty High School and worked for Robertson Optical. Mr. Bradley was a member of the Woodman of the World.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Key Bradley of Albany; daughter, Laci Shea Bynum and her husband, Danny of Albany; sister, Susan Wright of Albany; niece, Shaunna Paige Crawford of Albany; and a nephew, Robby Wright of Destin, FL.

ALBANY - The funeral service of William Issac Layfield, 68, of 157 Society Street, Leesburg, who died Monday, November 11, 2002, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Leesburg. The Rev. Bobby Harrell will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery.
A native of Macon County, GA, Mr. Layfield had lived in Leesburg since 1963. He was a self-employed floor covering mechanic, a member of First Baptist Church of Leesburg, and was an Army veteran.

Mrs. Wallace was a native of Roswell, GA, and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie Joe Wallace, and her parents, Homer Hopkins and Jewell Fouts Hopkins.

A native of South Portland, Maine, Mr. West was born November 24, 1948. He had lived in Worth County for the past 29 years and was retired from Worth County Board of Education as an eighth grade teacher. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Mr. West was preceded in death by his father, Vernley Buckminster West Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Rogers West, of Sylvester; a son, John W. West of Sylvester; a daughter, Kathryn L.
