ALBANY - The funeral service of Charles E. Smith, 86, of 308 Collins Street who died Monday, November 11, 2002, will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Bobby Marshall will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens.
A native of Luverne, AL, Mr. Smith had lived in Albany since 1940. He was retired longtime manager at Bennett's Feed and Seed and a member of the Albany Gospel Chapel. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Spring Smith of Albany; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Wayne and Norma Smith of Albany; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Dave Reed of Albany; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Diane and Tony LaSalle, Debbie and Danny Willoughly and Patricia Pollock, all of Albany. A stepson, Phil Spring of Albany; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven step grandchildren and 17 step great-grandchildren.
Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society Dougherty County Unit, 323 Pine Avenue, Albany, GA.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

COLQUITT - Myrtle Oliver Billings Clenney, 93, of Jonesboro, died Monday, November 11, 2002, at Beverly Health Care of Jonesboro.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Colquitt Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Colquitt City Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Morris will officiate.
A native of Baker County, Mrs. Clenney was born September 21, 1909. She was a homemaker and a member of Morningview Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL. Mrs. Clenney was the daughter of the late James Alford Oliver and Fannie Carter Oliver. She was married to the late Gary Arnold Billings for 46 years, and to the late John Coleman Clenney for 22 years. He son, William Jefferson Billings, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Billings King of Jonesboro, and Carolyn Billings Brannen of Beech Island, SC; six grandchildren, Eddie Carroll Brannen, William David Brannen, Dennis Keith Brannen, Wallace Jerfferson Billings, Pamela Brannen Bernard, and Karen Brannen Landry; six great grandchildren, Robert Brannen, Sean Granger, Brady Bernard Bridget, Brannen Snipes, Britney Bernard and Katherine Bernard.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.

FITZGERALD - Bennie L. Kennedy, 86, of Fitzgerald died Monday, November 11, 2002, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and the Rev. Tom Braziel will officiate.
Mr. Kennedy had lived in the Fitzgerald community all of his life. He was a 1935 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. He retired after 45 years a locomotive engineer with CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and a member of Arbor Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce E. Kennedy of Fitzgerald; son, Bennie L. Kennedy Jr. of Fitzgerald; daughter, Brenda K. Hardy of Fitzgerald; daughter-in-law, Janet Kennedy of Leesburg; sister, Mary K. Adamson of Manchester, GA; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Allison of Haddock, Jay Drexler of Fitzgerald, Eric Kennedy of Leesburg and Benja Kennedy of Tifton; two great-grandchildren, Rebecca Allison and Ben Allison, both of Haddock.
He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Kennedy; parents, George L. and Emma (Burdette) Kennedy and six brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be 7 p.m.-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
