DONALSONVILLE - John E. Sims Sr., 79, of Donalsonville, GA, died Saturday, November 23, 2002, at Tallahassee Memorial Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, FL.
The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, November 26, 2002, at Reynolds Chapel in Donalsonville, GA, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Randy Carnley officiating. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany, GA, with Masonic rites and military honors.
A native of Pooler, GA, he moved to Albany, GA, in 1940, and married in 1941. He proudly served in the Army during World War II as a battlefield commissioned officer, where he was a recipient of the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart. He was wounded in France in 1945.
He was the owner of the John Sims Bakery and the Dixie Sandwich Company for more than 30 years in Albany. He retired to Lake Seminole, GA, in 1979.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and Hasan Shrine Temple of Albany, GA, for over 50 years. He was also chaplain of the Salem Masonic Lodge #267 in Reynoldsville, GA, and a member of Reynolds Chapel.
During his retirement he enjoyed gardening and fishing. He helped build the new Reynolds Chapel dedicated in 2002.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ometer Olivent Sims, of Donalsonville, GA; three sons, John E. Sims Jr. of La Verne, CA, Michael R. Sims of Lilburn, GA, and Stephen W. Sims of Nashville, GA; and one daughter, Brenda Sims Thompson of Tallahassee, FL; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Reynolds Chapel Building Fund, 2676 Burke Road, Donalsonville, GA 39845.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery in Smithville. The Rev. Karl Smith will officiate.
Mr. Brown was a native of Leesburg.
Survivors include his son, Taquavious Terrell Lewis of Atlanta; a devoted grandmother, Carrie Walters of Leesburg; and one sister, Latrice M. Bivens and a brother, James Brown, both of Leesburg.

SYLVESTER - Gene Caulder, 61, of 136 East Church Street, Poulan, died Sunday, November 24, 2002, in Lee County.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Banks Funeral Chapel with interment in Wright's Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. Chuck Smith will officiate.
A native of Worth County, Mr. Caulder was born April 23, 1941. He was the son of the late Walter O'Berry Caulder and Eva Minnie Price Caulder. He had lived in Worth County most of his life. He was a truck driver and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Becky L. Caulder of Albany; son, Steven G. (Toni) Caulder of Vada; two brothers, Carson Caulder of Tifton and Lamar Caulder of Lakeland, FL; a sister, Carolyn C. Downs of Leesburg; and two grandchildren, Tori Caulder and Jamie Mathis.

ALBANY - Brodis J. LaMarr, 77, of 230 Sunrise Drive, died Friday, November 22, 2002, at Palmyra Nursing Home.
The funeral services will be conducted at noon Wednesday from the sanctuary of Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Daniel Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Garden Cemetery.
A native of Cordele, he was one of 12 siblings of Jesse and Lelia LaMarr. BJ can best be remembered as a band director. The last 29 years of his teaching career were spent as director of Monroe High School Band.
He was married to Myrtice Robinson LaMarr and to this union were born three sons, Brodis (Linda), Kenneth, and Ecitrym (Carlita). He was the grandfather of four, Caron, Brodis III, Brian and Amina LaMarr.
His organizations included the Fort Valley State University, Vandercook School of Music, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Criterion, and American Legion Post 512. BJ will best be remembered for his dedication to music.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his wife, Myrtice Robinson LaMarr.

SYLVESTER - I.J. Medders, 90, of 1855 Medders Road, Sylvester, died Sunday, November 24, 2002, at Palmyra Medical Centers.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church with interment in Providence Cemetery. The Revs. Bruce Gordon and Jerry Cooper will officiate.
A native of Worth County, Mr. Medders was a retired farmer and retired surveyor of Worth County after 22 years. During World War II, Mr. Medders served as supervisor of the Sweet Potato Dehydration Plant. He was the first in Worth County to receive the FFA American Farmer Degree in 1936. He was also a member and former chairman of deacons at Antioch Baptist Church where he also served as former church treasurer and Sunday School teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Medders would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary December 10, 2002.
Survivors include his wife, Gracie McCrary Medders of Sylvester; four sons, Harlan (Pat) Medders of Sylvester, Byron Medders of Maysville, and Doyle (Joyce) Medders and Roger (Billie) Medders, both of Sylvester; one sister, Vesta Mae Calhoun of Sylvester; nine grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
His parents, Chester Marion Medders and Myrtie Kizzie Reynolds Medders and a daughter-in-law, Llewellynn Medders preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
