ALBANY - Brodis J. LaMarr, 77, of 230 Sunrise Drive, died Friday, November 22, 2002, at Palmyra Nursing Home.
The funeral services will be conducted at noon today from the sanctuary of Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Daniel Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Garden Cemetery.
A native of Cordele, he was one of 12 siblings of Jesse and Lelia LaMarr. BJ can best be remembered as a band director. The last 29 years of his teaching career were spent as director of Monroe High School Band.
He was married to Myrtice Robinson LaMarr and to this union were born three sons, Brodis (Linda), Kenneth, and Ecitrym (Carlita). He was the grandfather of four, Caron, Brodis III, Brian and Amina LaMarr.
His organizations included the Fort Valley State University, Vandercook School of Music, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Criterion, and American Legion Post 512. BJ will best be remembered for his dedication to music.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his wife, Myrtice Robinson LaMarr.

GORDON - William Berman Akins, 82, of Asbell St., died Saturday, November 23, 2002, in Dublin.
Services were held Monday morning 11 a.m. at Irwinton Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Jackson officiating. Burial followed at 3:30 p.m. in the Brushy Creek Cemetery in Ocilla.
Mr. Akins was a native of Bullock County but made his home in Wilkinson. He was the son of the late James L. and Elizabeth Kennedy Akins. Mr. Akins was a retired educator for over 40 years. He was the principle at Gordon Elementary School, Wilkinson County High School and Wilkinson County Elementary School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. Mr. Akins was a member of Irwinton Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Zelda Akins of Irwinton; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy A. and John Gibbs of Watkinsville, Susan A. and Denton Hardy of Albany; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Becky Akins of Dublin and Bill Jr. and Paula Akins of Dallas, PA; brothers, John L. Akins of Registar and James I. Akins of Athens; nine grandchildren.

AMERICUS - Jenny Herndon Drew, age 74, died early Monday, November 25, 2002, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today from the graveside at Oak Grove cemetery with the Rev. Johnny Watts and the Rev. Frank Kirkland officiating..
Mrs. Drew was born December 18, 1927, daughter of the late John Herndon and the late Flonnie Beasley in Durham County, North Carolina. She graduated from Americus High School and attended Georgia Southwestern University. She retired from Manhatten Shirt Company after twenty five years. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest Drew of Americus; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Henri Drew of Albany, GA. A daughter-in-law, Lauralyn Drew of Andersonville, GA. One brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Herndon of Albany, GA. One grandson, Troy "Tad" Drew of Andersonville, GA, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. One son, Ken Drew preceded her in death.

ALBANY - Mildred (Millie) Driscoll Brown, 80, of Albany, died Thursday, November 28, 2002 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital following an illness.
Her funeral service will be Monday 10 a.m. at St. Teresa's Catholic Church. The Rev. Finbarr Stanton will officiate. Interment will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery.
A native of Springfield, MA, she had lived in Albany since 1961. She was a 1940 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Springfield, MA. She was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Albany.
Survivors include her husband, William J. Brown of Albany; a son, Michael J. Brown and his wife, Debbie of Albany; three grandchildren, Nolan J. Brown, Kathleen P. Brown and Rebecca Ann Brown, all of Albany; and a sister, Doris Hennebery, Springfield, MA.

BYRON - Eddie Callahan, 59, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2002. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Warner Robins, with burial in the Leesburg Cemetery in Leesburg at 4 p.m.. Visitation will be from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. today (Friday) evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Callahan, a native of Edison, was the son of the late George C. and Doris Hubbard Callahan. He was a supervisor in the aircraft maintenance division at Timco Aviation Service in Macon. Mr. Callahan was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Griffith Callahan of Byron; sons, Wade Callahan of Pella and Michael Callahan of Albany; daughter, Shanna Callahan of Warner Robins; stepdaughters, Kelly Wheeler of Warner Robins and Sandy Griffith of Galena, MO; stepson, Dane Griffith of Wichita, KS; grandson, C.J. ALBANY - Donell Curry, 46, of 100 Railroad Street, Oakfield, died Sunday, November 24, 2002, at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Grove Baptist Church in Oakfield with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Donnie Ray Hall will officiate.
A native of Worth County, Mr. Curry was born January 12, 1956. He was educated in the public schools of Worth County. He was a member of Zion Grove Baptist Church and served on the usher board.
Survivors include his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Curry Sr.; children, Latonya, Pamela, Todrick, Jacquette, Jatrice, Jamel and Matrelle Curry. A loving friend, Ms. Hilda Langs; eight brothers, Robert (Annie) Curry, Charles Curry, Wayne (Michelle) Curry, Alonzo (Margaret) Curry, Michael and Jerome Curry; five sisters, one preceded him in death, Forrestine Curry, Dorothy (Bonnie), Gwendolyn (Joe) Hoskins, Gloria (Eddie) Gaint, Cassandra (Broderick) Evans; several uncles, aunts and nephews, and a host of other relatives.

ALBANY - The graveside funeral service of Daisy B. Harrison, 81, of 101 Pelham Drive, Leesburg, GA, who died Wednesday, November 27, 2002, will be conducted Saturday, 11 a.m. at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery, Macon.
A native of Dublin, Mrs. Harrison had lived in Leesburg for the past four years. She was a retired sales clerk with Belks Department Stores in both Dawson and Albany. She was of the Methodist faith and the widow of Beebe Ray Harrison.
Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Harrison of Blairsville, Irene Harrison of Eufaula, AL, Connie Brown and Regina Summerford, both of Leesburg; a sister, Susan Maynard; a brother, George W. Blizzard; and 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The remains have been cremated. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, at Eureka Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Bill Edge officiating.
Born June 26, 1947 in Taylor County, Mr. Lawson was a retired fireman with the Dougherty County Fire Department and a member of Eureka Baptist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Juanita Jones-Dedeaux of College Park.
The repast will be in the church fellowship hall immediately after the memorial service.

A native of Randolph County, Mr. Newberry was retired from the Army. He attended Randolph County Public Schools. He was a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church, where he was deacon and a member of the Golden Key Club and member of the American Legion of Post 512.
Survivors include a son, Arrie B. Newberry Jr. of Albany; two daughters, Gloria Newberry-Sibley of Albany and Hederka E. Newberry of Atlanta; three sisters, Doris Newberry-Dyson of Albany, Johnnie Ruth Bell of St. Petersburg, FL, and Catherine Kitchen of Dawson; two brothers, Arthur Kemp of Clearwater, FL, and Henry Kemp of Hartford, CT; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The remains of Mr. Newberry will lie-in state at the church on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
