Funeral services will be held Saturday, 3 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Leary, with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. Calvin Rollins and Ivey Hines will officiate.
Born September 26, 1937, a native of Calhoun County, Mrs. Paige was a homemaker and graduated from H.T. Singleton High School in Morgan. She was organizer of the Dougherty Community Choir of Albany and a member of St. Olive Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Marsha Paige-Martin of Albany; three sons, Larry Latson of Albany, Tyrone Paige of Edison and Gary Paige of Santa Ana, CA; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Smith and Annie Vera Paige, both of Albany; one brother, Bennie Lee Paige of Morgan; and 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren

Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Salem-Seminole Baptist Church Cemetery at the Intersection of Hwy. 374 and Cannan Odom Road in Donalsonville with the Rev. Roman Hernadez officiating.

He was born in Seminole County October 25, 1959, to Edna Sue Hill and the late C. W. Burke. He attended school in Seminole County and was a welder at Brinbridge Machine Shop. He loved to fish, hunt, and spend time with his family and friends.
Mr. Burke is survived by his mother, Sue Hill Morris of Donalsonville; one son, Charles and (Heather) Burke of Donalsonville; daughter, Kayla Burke of Bainbridge; two brothers, Mitchell Burke of Ashford, AL, and Tim (Susan) Burke of Donalsonville; sister, Debbie and (Nicky) Cox of Colquitt; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, C.W. Burke; stepfather, Jimmie Morris; and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Burke and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Emmitt Hill.

EDISON - Gurlie Mae Thornton, 92, of Albany, peacefully departed this life Saturday, November 23, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at Greater Grace Church of God and Christ in Albany, with interment following service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Edison.
Gurlie lived and attended school in Edison.
She was a member of Mount Pleasant Church during her earlier life until she met and married the late Eddie R. Thornton. They later joined the Free Will Baptist Church of Cuthbert, where they served faithfully until 1958. She is now a member of Grace Emmanuel Church of God in Christ, Albany.
During her life, she did not stop wanting to better herself. She knew from the days of old how to be successful. Her success lies in the final results of taking care of her children as a dutiful housewife. As a housewife, she managed well her daily chores of washing, cooking, and cleaning her house.
She baby sat for each of her children's children. By doing this, she received the name of "Mama" rather than Grandma. Having her grandchildren from the Washington Metropolitan Area spend the summer with her was a special treat (for her and her grandchildren.) Her labor of love will not be forgotten.
Gurlie was a dutiful wife and mother of 10. Left to cherish her precious memories are: Daughters, Eddie M. Glaze of Maryland, Louise Burruss of Largo, MD, and Rebecca T. Young of Albany; sons, Hubbard Thornton of Temple Hills, MD, Frank Thornton and Joseph Thornton, both of Albany, Walter Thornton of Largo, MD, and Morris Thornton of Washington, D.C.; one sister, Rosa B. Favors of Orlando, FL; 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, two daughters-in-law, Mary and Patricia Thornton; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A native of Dothan, AL, Sandy had lived in Albany most of her life. She attended schools in Albany and attended Pinecliff Baptist Church in Mitchell County.

FITZGERALD - The Rev. Walter Hewlette Adams, 84, of Lands Crossing Community of Irwin County died Thursday, November 28, 2002, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Big Creek Baptist Church with interment in Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
A native of Wilcox County, the Rev. Adams was pastor for Antioch Baptist Church in Worth County for 29 years. He was pastor at Double Run Baptist Church in Wilcox County and Prospect Baptist Church in Ben Hill County. The Rev. Adams was a school bus driver, a Mason and former chaplain for the Irwin County Hospital and the Bank of Fitzgerald. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
