William S. Bell
ALBANY - William S. Bell, 85, of Leesburg, died Friday, December 6, 2002 in Sylvester.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at Leesburg Cemetery. The Rev. Bobby Harrell will officiate.
A native of Preston, GA, Mr. Bell had lived in Leesburg for 45 years. He worked as a mechanic with Lee County Public Works Department and also worked with Cannon Truck Service. He was an Army veteran serving in World War II and a member of the Baptist faith. He and his wife who preceded him in death on November 15 celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on November 11, 2002.
Survivors include three sons, William Max Bell and his wife, Mary Alice, John Spence Bell and and his wife, Eva, all of Sylvester, Jimmy King Bell and his wife, Vickie of Marietta; a daughter, Martha Sue Collins and her husband, Mike, of Leesburg; a sister, Sue B. Kirton of Okeechobee, FL; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Those desiring may make memorials to the Building Funds at First Baptist Church of Leesburg, 135 Main Street, Leesburg, GA 31763.
The family is at the residence of Mike and Martha Sue Collins, 208 Groover St., Leesburg and will receive friends Tuesday, 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern.

Gladys Baker Bush
BLAKELY - Gladys Baker Bush, 93, 11740 Columbia Road, Blakely, died Saturday, December 7, 2002 at Early Memorial Nursing Home in Blakely.
Funeral services will be held today (Monday) at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Blakely, with burial in Blakely Cemetery. The Rev. Willie Beasley will officiate.
Born on November 5, 1909 in Early County, Mrs. Bush was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Blakely. She was the daughter of the late Perry Eugene Baker and Bertha Mae Williams Baker, also the widow of Homer Elmo Bush Sr.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Summerford and Emily Regan, both of Blakely; five grandchildren, Rhonda Bush Freeman of Columbia, AL, Robyn Bush Ezell of Webb, AL, Candi Everson Vickers, Joseph Clifton Bush Sr., and Homer Andrew Bush, all of Blakely; and 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Homer Elmo Bush Jr. and a grandchild, Timothy Jennings Everson.
Pallbearers are the following Mike Ezell, Tommy Freeman, Ben Freeman, Gerald Smith, Cliff Bush, Andy Bush, Joseph Bush and Fred Forsee.

COLQUITT - Inez K. Cobb, 89, of Albany, formerly of Colquitt, died Friday, December 6, 2002 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services where held on Sunday at Colquitt Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Colquitt City Cemetery. The Rev. Don Bazel officiated.
Born on February 12, 1913 in Baker County, Mrs. Cobb was a retired school teacher after 35 years and a member of the Georgia Retired Teacher's Association. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Colquitt.
Survivors include a son, Jimmy Cobb of Colquitt; two granddaughters, Claudia Cobb of Athens and Elizabeth Cobb of New York, NY; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Will and Caroline Cobb of Gainesville; a sister, Martha Cook of Albany; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Kelley of Colquitt; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Terry Bullard, Parks Callan, Don Brown, David Lovering, Russ Simmonds and Edwin Wilkin.

James Melvin Watford
COLUMBUS - James Melvin Watford, 56, of Upatoi, GA, died Sunday, December 8, 2002 at the Medical Center, Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, Columbus, with the Rev. Russell Horne officiating. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends today (Monday) from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus.
Mr. Watford was born July 25, 1946 in Houston County, AL, son of the late Marion and Robbie Ozell Watford. He was retired from R.P. Packaging. He was a member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edwina Watford of Upatoi; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Birdie Watford of Waverly Hall, Timothy Andrew and Kathy Watford of Smith Station, Tony Ross and Trina Watford of Phenix City; stepsons, Richard Lemont Bradley of Upatoi, and Michael Dale Bartley of Waverly Hall; a sister, Geraldine Horne and her husband, Thomas of Columbus; brothers, Johnny Lafayette Watford of Buffalo, NY, and Larry Ronald Watford of Columbus; and eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Ione Ramsey Barker
ALBANY - Ione Ramsey Barker, 97, died Sunday, December 8, 2002, at the Heather Hill Nursing Home in New Port Richey, FL.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2002, 2 P.M. at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Barker will officiate.
Born October 20, 1905, in Mitchell County, Mrs. Barker grew up in the Flint/Baconton area and graduated from Baconton High School in 1924. She taught school in Baconton before going to work with the Dougherty County Department of Family and Children's Service where she worked as a secretary/case worker for many years retiring at age 73. She was a long time member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church and lived in Albany for several years before moving to New Port Richey, FL, in 1993 with her daughter.
She was the daughter of Doc and Leona Hayes Ramsey, who were Mitchell County pioneers, as well as their parents whose lineage goes back many generations in Mitchell Co. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Early Barker and two sons, George R. Barker and Raymond C. Barker Sr. Her greatest joy was her family and friends in both Albany and in New Port Richey, especially her extended family at Heather Hill Nursing Home.
Survivors include her daughter, Earlone Barker Persall and her husband Les of New Port Richey, FL; two daughters-in-law, Cheri King Barker of Baconton and Eleanor M. Barker of Bogalusa, LA; eight grandchildren, Cary Barker of Albany, the Rev. Jeff Barker and his wife Vickie of Baconton, Steve Persall and his wife Dianne of Clearwater, FL, Karen Bush and her husband Alban of Pine Bluff, AR, Brenda Livley and her husband Brad of Bogalusa, LA, Terri Graham of Houston, TX, Eleanor Lomzenski and her husband Jon of Bogalusa, LA, Cheryl B. Persall of New Port Richey, FL; and ten great-grandchildren.

ALBANY - Salvatore Giuseppe "Joey" Magaddino, 44, of Albany died Saturday.
His funeral service will be Thursday 10 A.M. at St. Teresa's Catholic Church with entombment to follow at Crown Hill Mausoleum. The Rev. Jacek Szuster will officiate.
A native of Castellamare Del Golfo, Sicily, Italy, he had lived in Albany for over ten years. He was a raised in the Catholic faith. In Albany, he worked with his family at Picnic Pizza.
Survivors include his parents, Giuseppe and Rosa Magaddino of Nashville, TN; three brothers, Vito Magaddino and his wife Josephine of Albany, Vincent Magaddino and his wife Maria, of Staten Island, NY, Sammy Magaddino and his wife Bonnie of Nashville, TN; three sisters, Caterina Oliveri and her husband Salvatore of Nashville, TN, Gina Mannino and her husband Vinnie of Albany, Sara LaMattina and her husband Angelo of Nashville, TN; 17 nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and nephews.
A prayer service will be recited at Kimbrell-Stern Wednesday at 6 p.m. with visitation to follow.

Mrs. Cummings lived in Terrell County most of her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dawson. She was also a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her son, Lewis T. Cummings of Pace, Fla.; her daughter, Ethel Mims of Shellman; and her sister, Myrtis Moncus of Orlando, Fla.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Driggers was born September 4, 1918, in Miller County, the daughter of John W. Widner and Edell Duce Widner. She was a homemaker and a member of Hebrew Free Will Baptist Church in Donalsonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. W.S. Driggers, a daughter, Gail Driggers Spooner, a son, Leroy Driggers, and a great-granddaughter, Leah Long.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth W. and Jan Driggers of Pavo, and Troy D. and Sara Long of Bainbridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Frazier Warren of Donalsonville; 11 grandchildren, Troy Doug Long Jr. of Norfork, VA, Carolyn L.
