DAWSON - Janet Louise Pittman Jones, 51, died Tuesday, December 17, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2002, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 478 Walnut Street, Dawson, GA. The Rev. Freddie Mann is pastor. The Rev. Roland Jenkins will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
She received her childhood education in the public schools of Terrell County, GA. She matriculated at the Albany State College, Albany, GA, where she received a B.S. Degree in middle grades education. She was employed with the Terrell County Board of Education as a middle grade education teacher.
To cherish her sweet memories she leaves a legacy of faith and love to her husband, the Rev. Freddie L. Jones; two daughters, Jackie Mays of Dawson, GA and Angelia P. Waller (John) of Tampa, FL; a son, Derrick Pittman Jones of Ft. Valley, GA; her mother, Eula M. Pittman and her father, A.J. Pittman Sr., both of Dawson, GA; three sisters, Patricia A. Walton of Marietta, GA, Johnnie B. Patterson (Howard), and Linda P. Jones, both of Dawson, GA; two brothers, A.Z. Pittman II (Ira Dean) of Dawson, GA, and A.J. Pittman Jr. (Janie) of Chicago, IL; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A native of Early County, Ms. McElvin was a homemaker. She received her education in 1947 graduating from the public school in Arlington. She was also a member of Hosley Chapel C.M.E. Church in Arlington.
Survivors include her mother, Julia Green of Arlington; two sons, Roy Gilbert of Jacksonville, Fla., and Eugene McElvin of Chattahoochee, Fla.; one brother, Clarence Fuller of Melbourne, Fla.; and three aunts and two uncles.

AMERICUS - Elise Stallings, 93, died at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center Wednesday, December 18, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today from the Martha McDonald Moore Memorial Chapel at Magnolia Manor with interment to follow at 3 p.m. from the Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus. In Americus, W.C. Hudson, Lynn French, and members of the Americus Kiwanis Club and members of the Americus Rotary Club are requested to serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Stallings, a member of a pioneer Worth County family, was born March 30, 1909, in Sumner, GA, a daughter of the late Thomas Lee Sumner and Lou Anna Pittman Sumner. She was the wife of the late W. Lamar Stallings.
Memorial contributions may be made to the League of the Good Samaritan, Magnolia Manor, 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, GA 31709.
A graduate of Wesleyan College, Mrs. Stallings served for 35 years as a high school English and math teacher in Georgia public schools, and was honored one year as the Teacher of the Year in Turner County. A friend to all who knew her, she was in great demand as a pianist for weddings and funerals wherever she lived. She served as the pianist for Magnolia Manor and for the Americus Rotary Club and the Americus Kiwanis Club for many years. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Americus, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Pilot Club.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sara Ward and Dr. James W. Ward of Hamilton; a sister, Cile Crouch of Albany; grandchildren, Michael and Katie Radcliff of Fayetteville, Patricia Radcliff of Lake Village, AR, and John Radcliff of Athens; great-grandchildren, Lauren Doran of Columbus and Samantha Radcliff of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews; including Ed Massey Jr. and Virginia Massey of Bronwood.

SYLVESTER - John Lee McCarty, 79, of 575 McCarty Road, Sylvester, died Friday, December 20, 2002 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 11 a.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. Danny Moree, Grady Morey and A.R. Wilbourn officiating.
Born in Worth County on March 7, 1923, Mr. McCarty was a retired farmer and a member of Evergreen Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran during World War II. He was the son of the late Homer Lee McCarty and Ida Mae Shurley McCarty.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Rouse McCarty of Sylvester; a son, Charles (Sandy) McCarty of Sycamore; a daughter, Ellen (Donnie) Yarbrough of Sylvester; two sisters, Jewell Senkbeil and Sarah Senkbeil, both of Sylvester; seven grandchildren, Michele Wilkerson, Megan Miley, Dan Ray, Terri Burgess, Candice Ray, Toby Lee Yarbrough, and Jessica Yarbrough; and seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

A native of Dougherty County, Mrs. McFarland was a member of Jordan Grove Baptist Church, where she formerly served on the number two Usher Board and Missionary Choir. She was an organizer of the Pastor's Aide Club; Treasurer of number three Missionary Circle and was a Sunday School Teacher. She also was a member of Home Union Juvenile No. 35.
She served as Worthy Matron of the International F & A.M. Mason and Eastern Stars, where she was a member for over 30 years.
Survivors include a devoted niece and caretaker, Evelyn M. Lewis; nieces, Teresa L. Warner, Ruth Houston, and Janie Porter, all of Albany, and Ann Orr of New York City, NY; nephews, Fred B. AMERICUS - Sara Nell Carroll, 72, of 106 Glenwood Road, Americus, died early Saturday morning, December 21, 2002, at her residence. A native of Montgomery, AL, born January 7, 1930 daughter of the late Marion Daniel Howell Sr. and Effie Folsom Howell, she had lived in this community for the past 30 years.
Mrs. Carroll was a member of the Nursing Honor Society, Retired Educators Association, and National League of Nurses. She was the Director of Associate Degree Program at Georgia Southwestern State University and Professor Emeritus of Nursing and a member of First Baptist Church of Americus.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Americus, with Dr. Reed Crumbliss officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Ben Hill County with the Rev. Greg Carroll officiating.
