Travis Chatman
ALBANY - Travis "Kip" Chatman, 81, of Oakfield, GA, died Tuesday, December 24, 2002, at Crisp Regional Hospital.
His funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Dale Thornton will officiate.
A native of Colquitt County, Mr. Chatman had lived in Albany since 1926. He attended local schools and graduated from Albany High School in the class of 1939. He enlisted in the US Air Force and served as a ground crew mechanic for bombers in Italy. His first aircraft was a B-17 Flying Fortress. That plane flew and returned from 83 bombing missions before the plane was retired. He was honorably discharged in October of 1945. Mr. Chatman began work with Southern Bell on October 22, 1945, and worked there for 37 years until his retirement. Mr. Chatman was a member of the Methodist faith and attended the Avalon Men's Bible Class.
Survivors include his wife, Leona Carroll Chatman of Oakfield, GA; two sons, Dan Chatman of Oakfield and Dixon Chatman and his wife Denise of Leesburg; two grandchildren, Chris Chatman and Ashley Chatman; a sister, Wilma Adams and her husband Lee of Albany; a brother, Max Chatman and his wife Bobbie of Worth County; a daughter-in-law, Faye Chatman of Athens; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.

A native and lifelong resident of Albany, Mr. Mercer was retired from Flint River Cotton Mills after 41 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Mercer of Albany; daughter, Diane DenHoed and husband John of Putney; son, Johnny T. Mercer and wife Mandy of Leesburg; grandchildren, Fay Roberts, Jeff Davis, Steven Davis, Clay Mercer, and Mallary Mercer; great-grandchildren, Dana, Shayla and Abigail (Abby).

ALBANY - The graveside funeral service of Walter James (Rat) Parrish, 62, of 106 Gatewood Drive, Albany, who died Monday, December 23, 2002, will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Thundering Springs Cemetery. The Rev. Jimmy Hagadorn will officiate.
A native and lifelong resident of Albany, GA, Mr. Parrish was a truck driver and was of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Parrish of Albany; two sons, Frank Parrish and Cody Parrish, both of Albany; two stepsons, Curtis Toole of Chipley, FL, and Rusty Toole of Bonifay, FL; a stepdaughter, Barbara Tharp of Bonifay, FL; two brothers, Paul Parrish of Metter and Billy Parrish of Albany; and three sisters, Mary Lee Peters of Sylvester, Lillie May Aycock of Dearing, GA, and Minnie Smith of Poulan.
Mr. Parrish will lie-in-state at his residence from Wednesday at noon until Thursday at noon.

ALBANY - Robert "Bob" Sutherland, 60, of Albany, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Sutherland was a native of Petoskey, Michigan, and had lived in Albany for the past 44 years. He was retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sutherland, of Albany; mother, Esther Sutherland of Holly Hill, FL; sons, Bobby and James Sutherland, both of Albany; son and daughter-in-law, David and Tammie Clark of Albany; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Bill Carson of Albany and Sandra and Mike Usrey of Albany; sister and brother-in-law, Ronnie and Johnnie Casey of South Port, FL; and three grandchildren.

A native of Dallas, TX, Mr. Watkins was a member of First United Methodist Church, and was retired from Cleve Wester's Tire Mart after 19 years of service. He was a member of the Exchange Club of Albany, the Sportsman Club, and the Flint River Power Squadron. Mr. Watkins served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ada Watkins of Albany, GA; two sons, David Watkins of Albany, GA, Jim Watkins and his wife Sarah of Allen, TX; two granddaughters, Allison and Ealnor Watkins, both of Allen, TX.

A native of Clio, Alabama, (Barbour County), Mrs. Ivey had lived most of her life in Early County. She was a retired registered nurse and was a member of Bluffton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Hugh Ivey of Camilla; one daughter, Ann I. Hardy of Blakely; one brother, B.F. Ketcham of Ozark, Ala.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Hugh Ivey Sr.; parents, R.E. Ketcham and Maggie Ann Lewis Ketcham.

He was born December 3, 1948, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, to the late Robert and Rita Johnston. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Smyrna.

COLEMAN - Robert William "Bob" Moore, 79, of Coleman, died Tuesday, December 24, 2002, at Patterson Hospital in Cuthbert. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, December 26, 2002, at 2 p.m. from the graveside in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Clay County according to Lunsford Funeral Home.
Mr. Moore was born March 20, 1923, in Clay County, son of the late James Coran Moore and Ola Boyett Moore. He was a retired farmer, a member and deacon of Coleman Baptist Church, a member of the Randolph County Commissioners from 1973-1993, and a former member of the Randolph County School Board. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James B. Moore and George C. Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Morgan Moore of Coleman; a daughter, Kathy Moore Gillespie of Covington; a son, Billy Moore of Coleman; a sister, Merle Moore Ware of Carnegie; and one granddaughter, Mikki Moore of Coleman.
