Frankie Mae Barrow Hurt Shiver
ALBANY - The funeral service of Frankie Mae Barrow Hurt Shiver, 83, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Albany, GA, who died Wednesday, December 25, 2002, will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2002, at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Marion Sizemore will officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens.
A native of Dooly County, GA, Mrs. Shiver had lived in Albany since 1949 before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a homemaker and a member of the East Albany Baptist Church. Mrs. Shiver was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Hurt.
Survivors include a daughter, Gail Swindle of Melbourne, FL; a son, Frank Hurt of Tennessee; a sister, Shirley Stumph of Doylestown, PA; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Marie C. Steward-Hibbler
ALBANY - Marie C. Steward-Hibbler, 73, of East Saint Louis, IL, died Friday, December 20, 2002, at Saint Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis.
The funeral will be at noon Saturday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Shellman with interment in the church cemetery. Elder John Wayne Leggett will officiate.
A native of Randolph County, Mrs. Steward-Hibbler was born February 25, 1929, and attended Randolph County public schools. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Rosemary Nwosu, Edward Riley Jenkins, Reginald Jenkins and Sereatha Ann Jenkins-Wedlow, all of California; a devoted friend, Lucius Clarence Johnson of East St. Louis, IL; her sisters, Essie Stevens of Edison, Mamie Zackery and Mary Thomas, both of Daytona Beach, FL; Pastor Louise Washington of Albany; her brothers, Arthur Blackmon of Cocoa, FL, and Alvin Blackmon of Chicago, IL; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family of Mrs. Hibbler will receive friends and relatives at the home of her sister, Louise Washington, of 509 Westover Blvd., Apt. 1005, Albany.

Robert Sutherland
ALBANY - Robert "Bob" Sutherland, 60, of Albany, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service will be held Friday, December 27, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Putney United Methodist church with the Rev. Don Woeltjen officiating.
Mr. Sutherland was a native of Petoskey, Michigan, and had lived in Albany for the past 44 years. He was retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base. He was a member of Putney United Methodist Church and served as past chairman of the Trustees Committee, Sunday School superintendent, usher and a member of the PPR Committee, Discoverers Sunday School Class and Spirited Seniors. He was a member of NARFE, American Legion Post 400, Golden Key Club and Senior Friends.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sleep Sutherland of Albany; mother, Esther Sutherland of Holly Hill, FL; sons, Bobby and James Sutherland, both of Albany; son and daughter-in-law, David and Tammie Clark of Albany; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Bill Carson of Albany and Sandra and Mike Usrey of Albany; sister and brother-in-law, Ronnie and Johnnie Casey of South Port, FL; and four grandchildren.
The family is at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Sleep, 1302 Edgewood Lane, Albany, GA.

Louis M. Watkins Jr.
ALBANY - Louis M. (Lem) Watkins Jr., 79, of 2406 Temple Avenue in Albany died December 22, 2002, at his residence.
A memorial service will be Saturday, 2 PM at First United Methodist Church Walden Chapel. The Rev. Robert Beckum officiating.
A native of Dallas, TX, Mr. Watkins was a member of First United Methodist Church, and was retired from Cleve Wester's Tire Mart after 19 years of service. He was the former manager of Miller Buick Company in Albany. He was a former member of the Exchange Club of Albany, the Sportsman Club, and the Flint River Power Squadron. Mr. Watkins served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ada Watkins of Albany, GA; two sons, David Watkins of Albany, GA, Jim Watkins and his wife Sarah of Allen, TX; two granddaughters, Allison and Eleanor Watkins, both of Allen, TX.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service.

Mrs. Connell was a native of Henry County, born November 17, 1903, daughter of the late Carl Edward Wise and Carrie Lou Calloway Wise. She had lived in Terrell County since 1921. She was a homemaker and the widow of Jessie Lee Connell. She was a member of Warwick United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Raz Wise, of Bronwood and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
