ALBANY - The memorial services for Peter Michael John Bailey, 65, of 3523 Wexford Drive, who died Wednesday, December 25, 2002, will be conducted Saturday 11 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Patricia Peets will officiate. A private interment will be in St. Patrick's Episcopal Church Columbarium.
A native of England, Mr. Bailey had resided in Albany for the past 21 years. He had served in the Royal Air Force. He was a mechanical engineer retiring from Miller Brewery. He was a member of Dougherty Lodge #592 F & AM, a member of Hasan Shrine Temple where he was a member of the Legion of Honor. He was of the Episcopal Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Bailey of Albany, GA; a son, Thomas Andrew Michael Bailey of Anderson, S.C.; a daughter, Nichola Michelle Bailey of Anderson, S.C.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Yeager was born April 14, 1913, in Harris County, GA, daughter of Albert Grant and Carrie Bass Grant. She was a seamstress and was a member of Manchester First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Joe Collier of Albany; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis L. Yeager.

LINCOLNTON - Charles A. "Charlie" Hiers Jr., 80, of Partridgetown Road died Friday, December 6, 2002, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 9, 2002, at 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with the Revs. Gerald Hollis and Terry Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hiers was born in Lake Park, GA, on November 13, 1922, the son of the late John A. Hiers Sr. and Lena Corbett Hiers. He had served in the Navy during WW II in the Pacific Theatre. He retired after many years as an instructor at Albany Technical College. Mr. Hiers moved from Lake Seminole to Lincolnton about two years ago. He was an active member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Hiers son, Charles A. Hiers III preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Cox Hiers; daughter, Patricia H. Partridge of Lincolnton; sisters, Lena Maude Harrell of Valdosta and Anna Grace Tucker of Monticello; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

ALBANY - Donald L. "Don" Barnes, 61, of 304 Timber Lane, passed away at his residence Friday, December 27, 2002.
Funeral service will be held Monday, at 10 a.m. at Acree First Baptist Church, with interment at Andersonville National Cemetery at 2 p.m. with full military honors. The Rev. Stanley Hendrix officiating.
Mr. Barnes was born in High Point, NC, and has lived in Albany for the past 27 years. He retired from the United States Marines and was employed as a security guard at Miller Brewing Company since 1978.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Barnes of Albany; his mother, Mary Mitchell of Lexington, NC; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Barnes, and David and Penny Barnes, all of Atlanta; two brothers, James Barnes and Willie Barnes, both of High Point, NC; and two grandchildren, Sydney and Jonathan Barnes.
The family is at the residence.
Visitation will be today (Sunday) from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

A native of Sale City, GA, Mrs. Davenport had resided in the Albany area since 1944. She was a homemaker and had been married to Herschel Arthur Davenport Sr. for over 50 years. She was a member of the Amazing Grace Baptist Church and she was a former crossing guard at Magnolia Elementary School. Mrs. Davenport was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Ladies Auxiliary, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and the Air Force Sergeants Association Auxiliary
Survivors include her husband, Herschal Davenport Sr. of Lee County; a daughter and son-in-law, Edythe (Eydie) Carolyn and Rick McDaniel of Albany; seven sons, Robert Ashley Davenport and his wife, Masami of Worth County, Wayne Lamar Davenport of Albany, James Richard Davenport and his wife, Sandra, Herschal Davenport Jr., Larry Joseph Davenport and his wife, Andrea, Michael Scott Davenport and George Wesley Davenport, all of Lee County; three brothers, John Wesley Daniel of Graceville, FL, William Allen Daniel of Lee County and Billy G. Daniel of Albany; two sisters, Annie Ruth Whitley of Union City, and Mary Grace Long of Jacksonville, FL; and 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
