SYLVESTER - Betty Lou Russell Hiers, 80, of 2184 Cannon Road, Moultrie, died Friday, December 27, 2002 at her daughter's residence in Dougherty County.
A graveside funeral service will be held 3 p.m. today (Sunday) in Sardis Cemetery in Colquitt County, with Pastor Robert Baggs officiating.
Born in Colquitt County on August 18, 1922, Mrs. Hiers was the daughter of the late John Louis Russell and Ophelia Dunlap Russell; also she is the widow of Charles A. Hiers. She is of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Hiers returned to Colquitt County in 1995 after residing in Ingliss, FL, for several years.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Phyllis and Bob McGirt of Albany and Judy Byrd of Atlanta; two brothers, J.T. Russell of Moultrie and Marvin Russell of Sarasota, FL; and four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today (Sunday) in the Social Hall of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church from 2 p.m. until the hour of service.

ALBANY - George E. Reddick Sr., 86, of 225 Story Lane, Leesburg, died Saturday, December 28, 2002.

A native of Morven, GA, Mr. Reddick had resided in the Albany area most of his life. He was employed with Aultman Motors for over 40 years and retired as a sales manager. Mr. Reddick served in the U.S. Marine Corps During World War II and was a former member of the Lions Club and Elks Lodge. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Reddick of Leesburg; a daughter, Faye Poston of Atlanta; four sons, Charles Reddick of Columbia, AL, George E. Reddick Jr. of Albany, Bo Godfree of Leesburg, and Bobby Godfree of Atlanta; a sister, Lois Clower of Albany; and 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

DAWSON - Deacon Tyree King Sr., 100, of 509 King Drive, Sasser, died Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at the family residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2002, at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Sasser, Terrell County, where the Rev. Angelo Tumblin is pastor. The Rev. Marcus Glass, pastor of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Dawson, where Deacon King was a member, will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Dawson.
He was educated in the public schools of Stewart County, and worked as a farmer sharecropping for many years, and eventually he obtained his own farm in Sasser.
He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Syrea Green King of Richland in 1926. This union was blessed with 14 children. All 14 are still living. Deacon and Mrs. King was honored in Jet Magazine when they celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary on April 4, 2001.

Born on November 21, 1952 in Miller County, Mr. Musgrove was a control monitor with Georgia Pacific Paper Mill and of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Rayburn died on Friday, December 27, 2002 at the Calhoun Nursing Home in Edison.
The son of Clarence Andrew Rayburn Sr. and Beulah Rowena Patten Rayburn, he was born on October 22, 1918 in Lakeland, GA. Mr. Rayburn was a veteran of the Unites States Army, having served during World War II. He was a retired farmer and school bus driver for the Thomas County School System. He was married to Dorothy Lee Eddings Rayburn, who survives. Mr. Rayburn was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Shirley Rayburn of Edison; a sister, Betty Jean Peters of Boston; three brothers, Elwood Rayburn of Brunswick, Carl Rayburn of Boston, and Wallace Rayburn of Augusta; two grandsons, Stan and Stacey Rayburn; and three great-grandchildren, Amanda Leigh Rayburn, Riley Jo Alice Rayburn and Colby Warren Rayburn.

A native of Baker County, GA, Mrs. Barry had lived in Albany since 1943 where she was a member of Raleigh White Baptist Church.

A native of Winnfield, LA, Mrs. Burke had resided in Putney for more than 40 years. Mrs. Burke retired as a secretary from Coats and Clark with over 27 years of service.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Stiles and her husband, Chuck of Ohio, IL, and Catherine Green and her husband, Paul of Athens; a son, Thomas Patrick Giggey and his wife, Linda of Putney; five grandchildren, Susanna Giggey, Patrick Giggey, Nicholas Giggey, Megan Stiles, and Benjamin Green; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Bessie Mae Donalson of Putney; and several nieces and nephews.

ATLANTA - Hazel C. Spence, 85, died at A.G. Rhodes Nursing Home in Atlanta, on Sunday, December 22, 2002. She was born in Garden Gove, Iowa, and lived in Albany for many years before moving to Atlanta in 1981. Mrs. Spence retired from Coats and Clark Inc. in 1974. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Albany. Mrs. Spence's husband, Henry I. "Jelly" Spence, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Louise and Jane Spence, both of Atlanta; a son and daughter-in-law, H. Warner "Bunk" and Celeste Spence of Statesboro; and two grandsons, William and Christopher Spence.
